Ulfric Stormcloak?

He has been in the uprising at Markarth, something the dragonborn didn't take part in. It also could have been the murder of high king torygg.
He holds great powers, such as commanding the stormcloak army, or the ability to shout.
As for the curse part... not so sure. But tell me if I'm right.

Incorrect, but good reasoning. Astrid hasn't been cursed anyway, and she hasn't witnessed some big event/happening.

What happened recently that was really bad in Skyrim that didn't involve the player in any way? One faithful, loyal, powerful cursed person (Vampire, as you've deduced) witnessed it.

The answer is Sybille Stentor and the event she witnessed is the death of High King Torygg.

Correct! She has served the Solitude Court for over 20 years (Faithful, loyal) she personally saw Torygg killed, she's a powerful mage, and she is a vampire.
