So today Evol decided to take a break from adventuring. He has over 500 hours logged thousands of weapons made. Thousands of armor made. An enchanted set of just about every kind of armor for any situation. Probably 200000 septums between every ownable house in skyrim so he went home to ysolda (?) And their kids to relax and live the family life. He'll come out and do a few quests. Maybe go giant and dragon hunting or milk some mammoths but for the most part he's on vacation.

Assaj
My Vampire Necro-Butcher left Anise's cabin and went to riverwood. She saw a archer who asked her to deliver a message so she did and he started following her around. She then went to Windhelm but ran into some bandits along the way and disposed of them. In windhelm she heard ran into some storm cloaks and recognized ulfric from Helgen. She was going go join the rebellion but decided to adventure on her own a bit longer. After feeding and sleeping she ran to whiterun to do some bounty hunting. After a couple days of that she sent Faendal home and went back to Anise's cabin to rest and do some Alchemy.

Took Lieth the Bosmer out for a spin. She took husband Vilkas to fight a dragon at Autumnwatch Tower, and he chose to stay behind after the battle to inspect the dragon bones. So little elf went to Riften and finished some business with the Thieve's Guild.

She also picked up her old buddy Marcurio for some good times. They're adventuring out in Falkreath somewhere, with big plans of heading to Solstheim to find the Deathbrand Treasure.

Deera, khajit female:
- Delivered the Golden Claw to Lucan and sold loot. Said goodby to Sven.
- Headed towards Whiterun, took carriage from the stables to Riften.
- Helped Shadr, slept a night in Bee and Barb and joined Thieves Guild
- Collected some depts for Thieves Guild

Shani, dunmer rogue and her troupee of Teldryn and riekling:
She's getting rid of those small, misc. quests in her list of things to do.
- Killed bandits in Orotheim for bounty and cashed the bounty from Alsfur in Morthal
- Spent a night in Ivarstead and then started to look her way to Autumn Watch.

I didn't have much time to play during the weekend.

Veldura, my wood elf archer had pretty much been running around hunting around Whiterun, selling the pelts to the merchants.

Juligus, my Imperial, had officially joined the Legion.

Celutha, my Dunmer, is in Raven Rock with Jannessa touring (my RP) the remains of her old hometown where she grew up.

Hist-Tongue, Argonian druid in the making and emissary of the Hist,
- arrived in Windhelm, where the first thing he saw was two Nords threatening a Dunmer woman; gave the gift of charity to Angrenor Once-Honored and was about to high-five Rolff Stone-Fist for showing those slave-owning Greyskins where it's at when Rolff proceeded to say something very unfriendly about "Dark-elves and Argonians", whereupon Tongue taught him never to mention these two in one breath by beating the living daylights out of him (not even wearing his Gloves of the Pugilist for fairness's sake; beast-race claws ftw!".
- met a brawl-loving Nord woman named Valla (3DNPC) and, over-confident from his recent victory, challenged her to a fight, which ended in him getting beaten the daylights out of and losing 100,- septims;
- was appalled to learn under which conditions his compatriots had to live and work on the Windhelm docks and decided to do something about it. Turned out all it took was to buy Torbjorn Shatter-Shield a drink. Really, Scouts-Many-Marshes, Neetrenaza and Stands-in-Shallows, you could have tried that yourselves, couldn't you?
- brought a serial murderer to justice (the right one);
- attempted to retrieve Shahvee's amulet of Zenithar from Uttering Hills Cave; killed the bandits outside and those in the ice cave part, but was forced to flee with a bloody nose from those further down. Sorry, Shahvee, you'll have to wait a little longer. (Besides, what business does an Argonian maid, lusty or not, have worshipping the Imperial divines?)

Shani, dunmer rogue, Teldryn Sero and little riekling warrior:
- Killed a dragon at Autumnwatch Towers and she got the third and final word for Market for Death-shout. Admittedly, Teldryn did most of the killing, Shani was busy looting.
- Started to walk towards Riften. Few bears later happened to Treva's watch and had a shooting contest with bandits on the walls of the fort. They won (chaos-enchanted ebonybow vs imperial or hunting bows....)
- Then she run into Stalleo and agreed to help him to clear the Fort from rest of the bandits. And she's still there, killing bandits. Did find what she believes are the bodies of Stalleo's family.

Today I hit my last dragon priest mask. I've never been to the time travel sanctuary, so this should be fun.

Shani, dunmer rogue, Teldryn Sero and riekling warrior:

- Continued killing bandits in Treva's Watch. Found dragonplate armour in one of the chests...it looked hideous on Shani.
- Turned over the Fort to Stalleo, didn't have heart to tell him about the bodies (that's how I RP it, since there's no dialogy option for: "sorry, I think they're dead".
- Went to Riften, sold loot, bought some light armour training from Grelka untill she couldn't train her higher.
- Lied to Sibbi Black-Briar and fetched the reward from Meadery. (like she would turn in the poor woman for a jerk like him).
- Went to Windhelm, sold more loot, fetched an item from Suvaris.
- Shani returned to College of Winterhold, dropped off the item from Suvaris to Sergius. Then she withdrew to her Arch-Mage's quarters, slept, enchanted untill she run out of filled soulgems and mixed potions. Her enchanting is nearly 100, need more soulgems!

It is fun. Watcha think?

Lieth and Marcutie-o (Marcurio) rummaged through their backpacks and traded items, cleared out Bthardamz, had a few party nights in Markarth with some ale and skooma, did some work for the Jarl, and killed a ferocious Frost Dragon.

Bosmer also picked up doggy "Vigilance" from her cannibal friend at the Markarth stables. Marcurio immediately voiced his disapproval of having a pup along on their adventures. But Lieth only cares about what Vilkas will say when she brings a second dog to the house. He's going to be [&@%!], since they already have Meeko and a fox. :/

Hist-Tongue, Argonian druid in the making and emissary of the Hist,
- returned to Riften, killing the bandit leader of Rift Watchtower on the way, and collected his bounty from Anuriel;
- set out westwards the next morning because he had promised Bolli to take a purchase agreement to Kleppr in Markarth;
- crossed the Rift, variously fighting and running from wolves, bears, frostbite spiders, bandits and trolls;
- reached Ivarstead, where he delivered some mead from Romlyn Dreth to Wilhelm the innkeeper, found the remains of Narfi's sister and comforted him with her necklace, and unmasked the ghost of Shrouded Hearth Barrow;
- was appalled to find that every hamlet in Skyrim seems to have its own sawmill, and added Temba Wide-Arm to his list of people to be exterminated at the earliest convenience;
- discovered an apparently abandoned shack formerly owned by an alchemist and now squatted by a nutcase Stormcloak supporter (3DNPC Godrod the Hammer), spent two nights and a day there and did a lot of brewing;
- crossed the mountains and discovered a camp of Stormcloaks at the border of Falkreath hold; did some trading with their quartermaster and was about to ask whether he could drop his bedroll somewhere and camp with them (it was getting dark by then) when one of them told him "I think you've come to the wrong place, my friend". Being forced to continue his journey in the dark caused a bit of a drop in his sympathy for the 'cloaks;
- discovered the ruins of Helgen and found a lot of useful stuff there, but hesitated to spend the night there although it was already past midnight, the place being haunted by a lingering aura of danger (in other words, One Does Not Simply Sleep in Helgen Keep);
- was stumbling down into the valley through pitch-black darkness, leveling his illusion skill by casting Darkvision, when he saw lightning and ice shards flashing across the road in front of him; knowing he was no match for a hostile mage yet, being laden with too much loot to run and also considering that there might be worse than mortal mages afoot in the depth of the night, he chose to sneak around the battle and nearly lost his way a few times until he reached Riverwood at last shortly before dawn;
- had a few hours sleep and a good meal at the Sleeping Giant, did some trading with Alvor and Lucan, solved the love triangle between Camilla, Faendal and Sven in Faendal's favour but immediately regretted it when he found out where Faendal works (really, is everybody in Skyrim a woodcutter or associated with them? :Angry: );
- followed a snow fox which led him to the cabin of a friendly old hermit lady whom he assisted against an attacking wolf (no, he didn't go into her cellar; you don't just go rummaging about in other people's homes without their permission, that's rude!);
- discovered the Guardian Stones and obtained the blessing of the Mage. Not having to make do with a magicka pool of 120 any more will make a huge difference.

* left Anise's cabin and headed to Helen, then east from there. She ran most of the way til she discovered a shack that belonged to a missing alchemist. She then continued in walking, cause the sun came up, east til she hit riften. She then killed bandits for the jarl as well as do quests for various townsfolk and a priest in the temple of Mara and the hall of the dead. She raised enough money to buy honeyside and was appointed the title of Thane of the Rift. She then dumped nearly all her gear and headed to windhelm to join the stormcloaks and did missions for them up to when she acquired the jagged crown. She then went to whiterun to get a quest from the companions and a townsfolk who wanted a family sword back.

Today was the day where I finally figured out what was breaking my Dawnguard. Turns out it was staring me in the face.
I was reading through the comments on the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch when I noticed somebody complaining about having to deactivate Dawnguard because of an issue exactly like mine. An article was posted as a reply that pointed me to the Impatience of a Saint quest.

It's funny how I never though to check that one before. I've looked everywhere but at that one little quest. It just seemed so... Innocent.
Heck, it's even on the wiki ("If you leave the Soul Cairn without starting this quest or leaving the quest incomplete your game may start to crash." Somehow that doesn't quite get the severity of the crashing and C++ errors across). So innocent, yet so game-breakingly awful. One little fetch quest has the potential to break everything. And nobody has any idea how.

So... With the information that doing the quest should prevent my saves from dying, I decided to give Dawnguard one last shot.
I created a male Altmer with the intention of joining the Volkihar. He's thin with orange eyes, black hair, a little bit of scruff on his chin, and dark discoloration around his eyes. He didn't really do too much today since I felt more like finishing Oblivion's main quest.

I can't remember what his name is right now, but I do know that I only bothered to set him up. He's wearing a set of Hooded Thalmor Robes (technically a modified version so it's counted as weak armor) and wielding two enchanted Elven daggers, an Elven bow, and multiple spells.

Do'radza Khajit thief,
- fetched Runil's diary from Halldir's Cair, got two Halldor's Staves!
- after returning the journal, got Thaned, made Rayya steward at lakeview Manor
- Helped Barbas to be united with his master (had two doggies following him for a while and kept tripping over them).
- Did thieves guild jobs enough to open the Windhelm special job.
- showed Summerset Shadows where the chicken pee, so to speak
- headed towards rendezvous with Karliah and Brynolf but found different dwemer ruin instead.

Crixius, imperial gladiator,
- escaped Helgen with Hadvar, cleared Bleak Falls Barrow
- delivered the dragonstone, killed a dragon
- did bounty hunting at Silent Moon Camp
- killed a mammoth to get a tusk for Ysolda
- went to Riften, talked Maramal
- Proposed Ysolda
- while waiting for the wedding day, has been investigating skooma problem

Deera, khajit sneaky mage-archer
- completed joining thieves guild, got her new set and picked up jobs
- took carriage to Windhelm, did some burglary
- next stop, Whiterun...emptied Uthgerd's house, helped the priest Andur, made friends with the Jarl, wondered about dead vampires and helped Irileth kill a dragon.
- after getting thaned in Whiterun, returned to Riften and started the Goldenglow - quest. Last save -in Arigoth's room- (or whatever his name is).

More like what I did in Skyrim this week but a few highlights.

I found out that Believe the Magic Dragon will indeed attack even though dragons aren't active in my play through. Seems my sneaking at Goldenglow was better than I thought. Wouldn't have been much of an issue but an unknown factor with UFO caused Aela to stand and watch while Believe attacked me. Deciding to alternate between trying to figure out what was wrong with Aela and fight off a dragon at the same time was a poor choice. In the end I figured out that I simply needed to tell her to be more aggressive in combat for her to engage in combat with beast enemies.

Fought off two mammoths solo without any risk of dying only to be nearly killed by a swarm of mudcrabs.

Became guildmaster of the Thieves Guild then decided to join the Companions. Then I remembered what a pain in the ass the first major quest of the Companions is when you do it at a higher level, mostly because of how much of a useless yoke Farkas is. I've never had a follower that blew my cover as much as he has.

Finished the Companions questline and am now trying to decide which I should do first, kill the Dark Brotherhood or join the Dawnguard.

Also somewhere along the line my sweet little thief became an angel of death.

Deera, female khajit:
- ended up killing Aringoth and few merecenaries. Emptied the safe and returned to Ragged Flagon. Got reward, and Brynolf directed her to speak Maeven Black-Briar.
- turned in jobs foe Vex and Delvin, got new ones.
- aaaand back to Whiterun after a talk with Lady Maven.
- Deera find herself sneaking to Uthgerd's house again... Forged business ledger in Drunken Huntsman, accidently hit a guard while fighting vampire and had to pay bounty.
- in Bannered Mare, talked with Saadia and Mallus.
- Poisoned skeever nest and mead vat. Those skeever managed to crowd her and she had tough time with tem and crazy mage.

p-sto, you've done more in a week of playing Skyrim than I do in a whole month. :D

p-sto wrote:

Mauin, congratulations on finally clearing that issue up! It's so annoying that something so minor could break a game. You'd expect the people working on the UDGP would have fixed it by now...

Anyway. Hist-Tongue, Argonian druid in the making and emissary of the Hist, during the last three days
- tested his newly boosted magical powers by some bandit hunting around Riverwood. After clearing the old watchtower under Bleak Falls Barrow he proceeded to rid the barrow itself of its outlawed occupants and was just filching Arvel's pockets for the Golden Claw when a shiver as of someone running an icicle down his back warned him that the old ruins harboured far worse enemies than bandits, so he quickly secured the claw and made a very quiet retreat, vowing to investigate the secret of BFB some other day. (I.e. I'm using Living Takes Time and have set it so that I can't loot while there are enemies nearby, and since Tongue is in no shape yet to deal with Requiemified draugr I had to drag Arvel's corpse to a safe distance to take the claw. Quite immersive.)
- tried to return the claw to Lucan Valerius, but apparently his sister choosing a middle-aged woodelf over a handsome Nordic bard had left poor Lucan so distraught that he refused to talk about the claw at all; Tongue and Camilla agreed that it would be better for Tongue to keep the claw for the time being and try again when some grass had grown over the love triangle;
- visited Whiterun, did some trading and crafting and enchanted his gear with Fortify Conjuration and +Magicka Regen;
- took a carriage to Markarth to deliver Bolli's message to Kleppr and witnessed a murder in the market square which nobody seems to want to investigate except for an ex-miner named Eltrys; did some investigations of his own and secured the victim's diary but was warned by the city guards not to meddle with the matter; he doesn't want to antagonize the authorities, so he's letting it rest for now;
- helped Brother Verulus to re-open the Hall of the Dead and dealt with Nimhe the Poisoned One for Calcelmo (Argonian poison immunity ftw!);
- had his first run-in with the Forsworn outside Kolskeggr Mine and came out victorious but found the fight hard enough that he's not going after them yet if he can help it;
- travelled back east toward Riverwood/Whiterun on foot via Old Hroldan and Falkreath and started his crusade against woodcutters and lumbermillers by killing Leontius Salvius and Hert (I don't think he even realized that the latter was a vampire, and if he did it wouldn't have made any difference);
- had his closest encounter yet with a spriggan at Roadside Ruin; the fair creature warned him not to come any closer but did not attack him, preferring to retreat into her tree instead. She did however tolerate that he looted the bodies of the two bandits she'd obviously killed, so that's as close to a friendly relationship as he's likely to get at this time.

Spent a lot of time in the Soul Cairn with Serana, looking for the 10 pages of the first volume of St Jiub's Opus. I found 2 pages in the first parish section, then minced around the second parish before getting fed up of not finding any. Ended up getting out an actual amp of the cairn that shows you where the pages are. Still had a tough time finding a few of them, being hidden behind chests and just getting lost on the paths in general.

Found them all in the end and gave them to Jiub. Found 3 spell tomes for conjuring boneman, mistman and wrathman, and defeated the large reaper, which reaped little reward for my trouble. The Cairn was pretty much devoid on enemies by the end of the trip, although I was surprised that we did not encounter the dragon, Durnehviir, again, as we had done when first in the cairn to get the Elder Scroll from Valerica.

It's a stealthy bug. There are multiple teams trying to find out what causes it, but nobody has managed to figure it out yet. Can't really fix it if they don't know what causes it. All anybody knows is that Impatience of a Saint is [&@%!] up for no good reason. Ignoring the quest or not completing it can destroy saves. No warning. No reason. *poof* Crashing like mad.

I never used to have that issue, but I think doing that reinstall after I finished Dragonborn for the first time (probably a few weeks after it was released) somehow triggered it. Somehow. Well, it's either that or I was just lucky those first times I went through Dawnguard as well.

Anyway... I decided I didn't like that Altmer I created to test out the Dawnguard fix, so I created a Dunmer male.
Reused the name Nyralor Fenris (those who have read Vulom's origin stories should recognize the name). And a bit of the appearance, too. Mostly the red hair.

So far, this Dunmer male has initiated Dragon spawns. Not going to bother with the main quest. Once he returns to Jarl Balgruuf, he will simply do Dawnguard. And hope that doing Impatience of a Saint will prevent the blasted bug that cost me so many incarnations of my characters. Mostly Vulom.

Vulom III, Vulom IV, Vulom V, Wild-Like-The-Sea, Vara Rydilis, and probably a whole lot more...

The Cairn was pretty much devoid on enemies by the end of the trip, although I was surprised that we did not encounter the dragon, Durnehviir, again, as we had done when first in the cairn to get the Elder Scroll from Valerica.

Yeah the soul cairn has the ability to disorient the play with the layout and the way everything looks. I have been there about 12x and stil need the map to remember whwere all the pages are. I find that half the time the reapers dont drop there bone weapons which stinks for what you get from them for your time.

Gilda, Fighter / Cleric type: traversed Skyrim with carriages looking for soul gems to buy just so Feandal can fill them. Met a dragon in Whiterun than met a dragon at the college and hope to go get a dragon priest mask from Vathume.

Crixius, imperial gladiator:

- Married Ysolda, had a wedding nigh in her house.
- Went to Cragslane Cavern to get the Skyrim rid of skooma dealers...that didn't go well, he's only gets past the bouncer near entrance. (synonym for versatile seems to be "sucks at everything).

Kalima Serano, dunmer sorceress and vampire:
-Continued clearing Redwater Den and she sucks at using vampire powers (or I do.. third person view disorients me, with werewolf it doesn't matter that much).

Kyra Frostblade, nord werewolf, with Serana:
- Talked with carriage driver and had to pay for the knowledge where the Moth Priest might be. There was also two vampires to kill outside the stable.
- Cleared Cragslane Cavern, she had no trouble with at all.
- took carriage to Solitude but didn't enter the city, instead they walked towards the Dragonbridge.
- There was some ruckus at that Stormcloak camp near Dragobridge that involved a werewolf, dragon, horse and Serana. The dragon and most of the stormcloak soldiers got killed. The werewolf was almost killed by horse (she was waiting for return to human) and Serana kept killing soldiers well _after_ everything had calmed down and everyone else had stopped fighting. Kyra had to run away from the camp before everybody got killed.
- Reached Dragonbridge, spent rest of the night at the Inn and talked with the villagers.

p-sto, you've done more in a week of playing Skyrim than I do in a whole month. :D

Thanks, I blame avoiding side quests and having too much time on my hands for that. Though I have to say it looks like you got a fair amount done in your day of playing.

I decided to slow things down by doing some of the radiant quests for the Dawnguard with my Dunmer. Turns out that most of them are quite fun.

Also decided to make a new character. Was originally going to make a male to change things up but I just couldn't make a decent looking Khajiit male and I hate going with the presets.

No weapons, no armour, just horrible claws of fury. Grandmaster mod ftw. But I think she's going to sit on the shelf for the moment as I haven't really thought about what I want to do with beyond play style.

Haha, touché... although tbh I tend to sum up a few days at a time in these posts. Took me half a year to complete the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood quest lines with my other character thanks to no fast-travelling, getting distracted easily and meticulous (some might say pedantic) roleplaying. But then I've done most things in Skyrim so often that I'm in no particular hurry to get anywhere; for me the fun is in the journey, not the goal.

Lieth resurrected her dusty Nightingale Armor in some chest in her Riften home. And after permanently moving her family to Breezehome, she hid some stolen treasures in her daughter's chest. The little girl isn't using it for anything, and Bosmer ran out of room in her pockets.

Shen then whisked up husband Vilkas for a trip to Solstheim, clearing out bandit camps along the way.

Nyralor spent most of his time slaughtering innocents in Vampire Lord form. I haven't done that in a long time.

Anyway, he did eventually continue with the Dawnguard quests... Sort of. He went back to the Castle and returned the Bloodstone Chalice, then got his new orders from Harkon. He is now slowly making his way to Dragon Bridge to find that Moth Priest.

Of course, along the way, he got attacked by three or four groups of Dawnguard weaklings. One of them carried a 'Writ of Dawn.' It made him laugh.
