Bomani ran into some Alik'r mercenaries, that he had been hired to protect a certain Hammerfell noble from, just inside Whiterun's gate. So, he followed them outside, and disposed of them. After a stint in the Dragonsreach Dungeon, he informed Iman, and then dealt with the Alik'r once and for all.

Now that she was safe, for now, Bomani trekked to the Forsaken Cave, to aquire a couple alchemical artifacts (The White Phial and the Ring of Pure Mixtures) from Curamil's undead grasps.

Dalvus had a busy weekend - he successfully infiltrated the Thalmor Embassy for the Blades, and then went to investigate Dimhollow Crypt for the Dawnguard. The woman she found there was almost normal. Not like any vampire he'd ever met. When her father offered to turn him into a Vampire, he was shocked. He refused, of course. It wouldn't do for the Dragonborn to become a Vampire.

By this point, his backpack was getting heavy, so he headed to Heljarchen Hall.

Marilyn, having cleared Cragslane Cavern and arrived in Windhelm, split up with Gorr for the time being; they may meet again some day, but for now she can't stand the sight of him. During the next couple of days and nights she stole Viola Giordano's jeweled pitcher, investigated the murders that had been occurring in Windhelm and got the Butcher locked up (or so she thinks; I know better, but by Marilyn's book anybody who pays her decent money for a strange amulet is a good guy, while she generally mistrusts wizards). She also talked to Aventus Aretino and was very personally moved by his request (being an orphan herself and having been kicked out by her foster parents) - so much so that she resolved to fulfill it without charge.

In between she also did some dungeon delving, retrieving an Interesting NPC's family sword from Uttering Hills Cave (and dealing with Captain Kjar's runaway crew member at the same time) and Shahvee's amulet from Stony Creek Cave. It's different alone, but all in all she's handling herself quite nicely. Archery is quite powerful in Requiem, so at level 14 with 27 in Archery and the first two perks she oneshots most bandits - unless they're higher level and wearing heavy armour, which is a pain in the neck; but that's what poisons are for (also crossbows, but the one she had was broken by an enemy's power attack; yeah, that can happen too).

So my Argonian (Shade Ebonscale from here on out) Definitely went off the deep end today...I think 336 years have finally driven him mad (I have headcanon for how he is the same Argonian I played during TES III and TES IV. Don't give me that look)

Shade went into every dungeon he could today, found all the human skull that could physically be picked up, and carted them all to Solitude where he set them up at the city gates and immediately began chucking them at any passerby...including the guards.

In order to test out her new flaming familiar spell, Sylmirie went around Hjaalmarch like a boss exploding everything in her path. That is all.

Did some questing for Arniel Gane's odd Dwemer experiment.
Visited Ancient Ascent and learnt a word for the new Animal Alliance shout.

Went to Shadowhill Hollow (?) to retrieve a staff and made use of my newly acquired detect life spell. Ive been wanting this spell for a while, as i dont like surprises, and it saves on me sneaking and throwing voice. However, it does use a lot of magicka at the moment.
I disposed of several Spellswords and was left with enemies that the detect life spell showed up as fuzzy blobs. Definitely not people. They looked like possible arachnid shapes. My most loathed and detested foe in Skyrim is the frostbite spider, so I did not feel happiness when I started to walk towards webs.
I had Marcurio with me, so I mustered up the courage and summoned my Dremora. CoweringWaiting at the cavern entrance I gladly watched the red dots disappear from the compass as the trusty Dremora did his job.
I found a dark elf woman caught in webs, so I freed her and had to escort her out of the cave.
As I walked toward the dead bodies of the recently slain spiders, I looked into the vast cavern they were in. To my horror, utter horror, another horrible spider decended on its web down from the ceiling. It wasnt even a regular one, it was a GIANT one.
Now, I wish I could say that I ran into battle or at least stood my ground, any slight show of heroics, but no. I am ashamed to say that I gasped in absolute horror, literally shoved Marcurio out of my way and legged it back down the tunnel. I then let the Dremora and Marcurio finish it off.
I do wish I was braver with the spiders. There isnt really anything else that I flee from, but these creatures.... Oh how they afflict me so. A bane to Skyrim. Many a quest not attempted for their presence. Why must they be so damn big!

Anyway, got the staff and found the elf woman waiting at the cave exit. It said I had to lead her out, but she was so close to the hole that I couldnt get to her without 'exiting' the cave myself, and she would not follow. In the end, without much hope, I tried the Unrelenting Force shout on her and, lo and behold, she went flying right into the black exit hole. It said id succeeded in helping her out, but when I left she was not outside, so who knows where I fus-ro-dahed her off too.

Fun highlight: got telekinesis spell. It brings a whole new element of fun to being lazy.
Sad: killed a fox thinking it was a wolf
Funny: speaking with Tolfdir and seeing J'zargo sneak past behind him towards the Hall of Elements with a shock spell armed in one hand. Up to no good I suspect!

I started playing Skyrim again recently. Started by switching body mods from UNP to CNHF 2.5. To test it, I created a new Nord warrior named Fjara Tundra-Strider. She wears the CNHF conversion for Ebony armor (basically the male version reshaped for the CNHF female body. Sternum safe) and originally wielded a Daedric Bow and Sword. I had to switch, though, because my PC was freezing up for a few seconds every time I switched to the Daedric Bow (and only the bow). Might be a mesh issue.

Anyway, she has ran around Skyrim killing Dragons for a while. She was in the Rift earlier and thought that she would join the Dawnguard. They sent her to Dimhollow Crypt, where she encountered some wolves with the Vampires instead of the usual Deathhounds (in the first chamber. There were Deathhounds through the rest of the Crypt). Fjara stopped outside of Dimhollow with Serana. She'll go to the Castle some other day.

Solved a murder mystery - no, not "Blood on the Ice." The mystery of how my main character notched her first and only murder when I wasn't looking. Apparently, it was a Talos worshipper that she tried to save from some Thalmor but accidentally killed during the fight. Checking her stats on save files before and after the incident confirmed it. So that's solved. She now has a murder on her rapsheet, but I'm ignoring it for roleplay purposes.

Other stuff. My main character, Jess:
1. Hired a mercenary for the first time.
2. Attempted to mentor Erik the Slayer
3. Briefly got lost in the Reach and encountered some friendly Forsworn (?)
4. Freed another prisoner from some Thalmor
5. Tried to flirt with Erik.

Long version:
Spoiler:
Delia-Jessamine Maric, troubled but improving Breton stealth-mage, left Markarth after dissing Molag Bal by returning his mace. It was late afternoon, and she was heading to "anywhere that isn't the Reach". Because it was getting late, she stopped at the Old Hroldan Inn for the night. Jess had never been there before, and as a former tavern wench, she wanted to check it out. Not much to it, though it has some history. The innkeeper seemed nice but her kid kept warning her not to get drunk (how did he know?) and bragged about the linens.

The next morning, Jess woke up to a scream and soon she had another quest. But of course, the quest would require going to a Forsworn outpost in the backcountry of the Reach, not something she wants to do alone. And she doesn't have any friends in this part of Skyrim that she can bother to go with her. Then she remembered Erik, the aspiring mercenary in Rorikstead. She had never hired a mercenary, but decided to go see if Erik was still among the living.

Entering the inn at Rorikstead, she saw Erik ("The Slayer"), who admitted that he hadn't had any actual fighting experience yet, but Jess hired him anyway. His gear was... cheap. Iron armor and an iron sword. They traveled north and soon were ambushed by bandits, who they defeated in a tough fight. Jess did not use her most powerful magic, wanting to see Erik fight. He fought hard, but Jess was concerned about his gear. She decided they needed to go to Solitude to properly outfit Erik. Along the way, they were attacked by a "Thief" with ebony armor and a steel sword. Jess asked Erik if he liked the equipment of the now-dead "Thief". Erik said he preferred light armor and a heavy weapon. "So picky," Jess thought. (I had looked up his skills on the wiki).

They reached Solitude in the afternoon and Jess took Erik to Proudspire. "You need to learn how to prepare because you won't always have me to save you." Jess was surprised by her words and realized that she was trying to mentor someone for the first time. Her stock of materials was low, so they had to hurry to visit the merchants before they closed. After dinner on the porch, they went to the forge for some after-hours smithing.

"What are you laughing about?" Erik asked. Jess answered "Nothing." Actually, she had imagined putting Erik in Elven gear. The thought of a Nord mercenary in Elven gear was funny to her.

Instead, she began making Erik a set of leather armor and tempering a steel battleaxe she bought from Beirand. She explained as she worked. "These are better than what you have, and better than most things you might find. The leather is soft. It won't make much noise if you bump into something. And it's dark and blends in. The Thieves Guild uses leather armor and theirs is the best... from what I've heard... this is almost as good... not that I would know...nevermind. I tempered the axe to make it better than the ebony ones the merchants carry, and it's lighter, too. But if you're going to be a mercenary, you should learn to smith for yourself. I only know leather, steel, and moonstone. But you wouldn't want Elven gear. Someone might mistake you for a Thalmor agent. There. As good as what I give my friends, and I haven't lost one yet. Don't be the first." Back at Proudspire, she enchanted a ring and necklace identical to the ones she gave Torvar a few days earlier. She gave them to Erik, along with some food and extra health potions from her stock.

It was getting late, so she told Erik that he could sleep in Jordis' bed. "If you're lucky, maybe Jordis will get sleepy, too, but don't count on it." Jess went upstairs, changed into a robe that, ironically, had once belonged to a follower of Vaermina, and slept.

After breakfast, they headed into the Reach, encountered and killed several hostile Forsworn, and easily completed their objective. All the while, Jess explained her actions to Erik: Staying hidden and near cover, sniping from high ground when possible. Jess opted for poisoned arrows and she did not use combat magic since Erik did not know any magic himself. The only magic she used was to calm the animals they encountered during the journey.

When attempting to return to Old Hroldan, they became lost in an area of the Reach she had never been in. After displaying so much confidence when trying to mentor Erik, Jess began to panic inside. Then they were attacked by a Dark Brotherhood assassin - "If only they were as good at fighting as they are at finding me" (Note that I have no idea why the DB attacks her). The fight alerted a group of Forsworn nearby. Surprisingly, they were not hostile. Jess had never seen friendly Forsworn before, but it calmed her down and she and Erik soon were back in a familiar area, near Karthwasten.

When they encountered a group of Thalmor agents leading a prisoner, Jess smiled coldly. They had already seen her and Erik, so a stealthy attack was out of the question. Her dark eyes shining like ebony, Jess asked Erik "Are you a true son of Skyrim?" While the puzzled Erik pondered the question, Jess approached the group. When they warned her away, Jess answered by summoning a frightening Daedra the likes of which Erik had never seen. She then slashed the bindings of the prisoner and handed him a dagger. The three Thalmor suddenly found themselves outnumbered. Jess paralyzed the agent nearest the prisoner and chased down the Thalmor mage, his spells hitting her with little effect. She struck the mage over and over with her dagger until he was dead. The other two Thalmor were dead by the time she returned. The newly freed prisoner cautioned Jess about her "dangerous magic" and ran away.

Jess began stripping the Thalmor of their gear and asked Erik to carry some of it, but when she noticed Erik equipping an Elven axe in place of the steel axe she had given him, she stopped and took it back. "You use Elven weapons," Erik said. The Breton joked, "But I'm not a Nord. Do I have to explain how to be a Nord, too?" Jess took the Thalmor mage's equipment, but left the other gear on the bodies. They resumed walking to Old Hroldan.

Back at the inn, Jess decided to flirt with Erik and put on her Amulet of Mara. To her embarassment, he did not respond to her flirting, and she felt humbled. "Maybe I shouldn't have made fun of him." The next day, they walked back to Rorikstead and Jess released Erik from service, allowing him to keep the armor and battleaxe. She wondered if she had been a good mentor.

I'm giving Kyra and Mjoll a much needed and well deserved break after realizing how insanely OP I've made them. I was at a dead standstill after I got sick and tired of Dwarven excavations and Dwemer ruins. I went and did a couple more Daedric quests to break up the monotony. The Masque of Clavicus Vile strangely accentuates and compliments her ebony armor in a completely alien sense, and since it's apparently of ebony design, make and origin, she still gets all her Heavy Armor perks, including Matching Set. I didn't even have to temper any of it to put her over the armor cap, while Mjoll now sports her previous Epic set of Orcish. My first hint about how stupidly powerful my character had become was in the aftermath of A Daedra's Best Friend, when she went to complete The Black Star. Kyra, alone and unaided, ventured inside Azura's Star to cleanse it of it's unholy inhabitants and restore the Daedric artifact to it's previous former glory. At level 48, she was met by three Dremora Valkynaz, which she proceeded to cut down with a Bound Sword as her sole weapon of choice before dispatching Malyn Varen. I don't think her health ever dropped below half. She and Mjoll retired back to Whiterun and Breezehome for some R&R before venturing out again.

I was showing off to the kid who insisted on going and getting Wabbajack. I decided to humor him, but not save, so off to Solitude we went. After a short holiday dinner party with Sheogorath, we found ourselves back in The Blue Palace and he was begging me to try it out. I had never been in The Blue Palace before and I couldn't think of anybody I would rather try it out on than Elisif the Fair. The next thing I know, I'm pulling an "Ulfric Stormcloak" routine and being besieged by the entire Solitude Guard, as well as several "Essential" NPCs. Everything in The Blue Palace that wasn't "Essential", died. I got bored and left the Palace only to have the massacre resume in the streets of Solitude as the "Essential" NPCs followed us outside and the town Guards attacked. Kyra and Mjoll left a trail of Guard bodies from the Blue Palace to the city gate. Finally, there were no more guards and the only thing still moving were the "Essential" NPCs, which by this time were just being annoyingly bothersome. We left the city hoping they wouldn't keep following us, but no such luck. The kid was just sitting there in amazement, slack-jawed, when he wasn't hyper actively yelling for me to keep using the Wabbajack, which mercifully ran out of charges giving me an excuse to ditch it, and I was bored and disgusted. I handed him the Xbox controller, telling him to have fun and knock himself out, but not to save. Last thing I saw on my way outside for a smoke was him giddily dual-wielding Bound Swords and running toward Meridia's Shrine, playing a black armor-clad ninja in third person mode (yawn). I think I broke my game.

The Jarl had placed some bounties upon giants, in Whiterun Hold, so Bomani went out to collect, and make the hold a safer place to live.

Felina and Onmund took out Mehrune's thugs at his shrine. They broke into the tiny temple and looted the place. She scored a new ebony bow...only thing is that its too heavy for her little body to carry. So Onmund has a new bow now. :)

On the way back down the mountain, they happened upon a cave with torches lit in front of it. Only an ice wraith and two wolves were inside the cave but it had some treasures in it. After some lunch and a--uh, nap--they made their way back towards Windhelm. But they rode past a group of bandits fighting, which perked their curiosity. And thus began their investigation of some Pale Lady's blade that had been stolen.

Marilyn (II) returned to Riften, paid a visit to Goldenglow Estate and, making her way through the tiers of mercenaries protecting Aringoth, discovered that she enjoys sneaky killing far too much for the good of her precious soul. Grelod, here I come.

@Aarah - If it makes you feel better, spiders are the only animal (are they considered animals?) my mage will kill, and she kills them with a vengeance.

Delia-Jessamine Maric, mostly sober and trying to be responsible Breton stealth-mage:
1. Found a cave and an interesting note at Sleeping Tree Camp. Sold a bottle of sap to an unlikely dealer - and kept a bottle for herself.
2. Enlisted Torvar for a trip to Winterhold to make sure it hadn't fallen into the sea while she had been neglecting her thane duties.
3. Couldn't help a hunter who had been attacked by a vampire.
4. Doesn't have time to deal with Falkreath's problems.
5. Discovered that she can summon two Daedra at a time.
6. Finally got a Dibella statue to stand upright.

Long version
Spoiler:
Her attempt at flirting with Erik the Slayer made Jess realize that she was still reluctant to commit to marriage. And recent events, including her mentoring of Erik, made her feel more like a responsible citizen again. She decided to continue taking care of long neglected thane duties by traveling to Winterhold to make sure it hadn't fallen into the sea since the last time she was there. She wanted Torvar to go along, so the first stop would be Whiterun.

On the way, Jess took a shortcut and found Sleeping Tree Camp. She avoided the giants and mammoths, and collected a bottle of sap from the strange tree. So that's where it comes from. She had never tried it before, nor skooma. She had enough problems with wine and ale.

Jess entered the cave. A giant was inside, but he couldn't see her. She muffled herself and crept in further, finding a dead Orc carrying a bottle of sap and a threatening note from a Whiterun citizen that Jess wouldn't have suspected of such dealings. Interesting!

The trip to Whiterun was uneventful and she found the dealer in the marketplace. She found herself intrigued by the citizen with the secret business. Jess sold the dealer a bottle of sap... and kept one for herself.

At Warmaiden's, Jess crafted a set of hide armor as a fashion change from her previous set of mixed studded and leather pieces. Her skills must have improved, as the new set seemed better made than the previous one. She looked forward to trying it on. She would have to wait to try further improving her Elven bow and dagger.

Jess rented a room at The Bannered Mare, as is her custom when in Whiterun. After a nap, she went to Jorvaskrr to see Torvar and to train with Vilkas, who sometimes tutored her in the use of heavy weapons. The small-framed Breton tired quickly when swinging a two-handed weapon, but it couldn't hurt to learn. She returned to the Bannered Mare for dinner and sleep.

The next morning, Torvar was still asleep when Jess arrived to collect him for the trip. They would go to Riften first. Approaching Helgen, a panicked hunter ran up to them claiming that he had been attacked by a vampire. Unfortunately, Jess could not help him, as she did not have the right potion - only hawk feathers, which he would not accept. He marked the location of the attack on her map - Bloodlet Throne - so she could avoid it. No problem, the Breton had no intention of going near the place. She had enough to deal with in Haafinger, The Rift, and Winterhold without taking care of Falkreath's problems, too.

The hunter ran toward Helgen, apparently not knowing that it had become a haven for bandits since the dragon attack over a year and a half earlier. They ran after the hunter and killed the bandits, but there was no sign of the hunter. There were more bandits on the road east of Helgen, where Khaajit merchants were frequently attacked. Whoever is in charge of Falkreath Hold really needs to do something about the bandits, Jess thought.

Further along the dangerous road, Torvar and Jess saw two frost trolls. Jess summoned a flame atronach to help in the fight, and was surprised to discover that she was immediately able to summon a second one!

Torvar and Jess stayed in Ivarstead for the night, where Jess relaxed while listening to Lynly Star-Sung play the lute. She thought about her newfound ability as a summoner and wondered if the ability was surfacing now that she was staying (mostly) sober. The next morning, they continued to Riften, where for the first time Torvar saw Jess's other home, Honeyside (now cleared of evidence of her Thieves Guild and Nightingale associations). Jess spent the afternoon trading and smithing. Later, Torvar helped her place a decorative statue of Dibella in Honeyside (I have tried and failed many times to get one to stand upright and finally succeeded - for roleplay, I'm crediting Torvar with it).

They would continue to Winterhold the next morning.

I did the peace treaty in ''Season Unending'' the other day, for the first time. That right there is the best event in Skyrim's entire main questline. Really, compared to the rest of the lacklustre questline, this was the only time where I felt that what I was doing and the decisions I was making had some importance to them. Nicely done with this one.

I loaded up my Forsworn character to test out a new skin texture. Nice, but the neck seam drove me off. I'll wait until the author fixes that and then download again.

Anyway, I got bored of just wandering around with her, so I decided to go on a massive murder spree. So far, I've slaughtered the populations of Whiterun and Solitude. I've got over 50000 bounty in both locations.

Also, I got killed in one shot by the Ebony Warrior in Whiterun. Seriously. My little Forsworn has 2100 health (and magicka and stamina) and he killed her in one shot. I swear the damage he does is erratic. Sometimes he doesn't do much, sometimes he does. That was one of them.

[&@%!], I forgot to kill Riverwood. I'll have to do that tomorrow. Kinda important to remember them if I want to finish off Whiterun.

Ajiran joined the Companions, then decided to head off to visit Elsweyr (Moonpath to Elsweyr), but after she got chewed to death by a lowly spider--twice, no less, and on apprentice difficulty--I decided to hold off and come back when she's got better armor and more health...

Meanwhile, Zhalira went on a pickpocket spree in Riverwood (she's currently sitting at 40 pickpocket), then headed off to Bleak Falls Barrow to fetch Lucan's golden claw. Next stop will be Windhelm, as there is a certain little boy there she's interested in talking to.

@ snail's pace good choice! You get them spiders, get em!

Saved a frantic man from a gnarly fate, when he was attacked by vampires, by giving him a cure disease potion. He ran off before I could ask him where it happened.

Chanced upon an odd green glowing light in the wilderness. I approached it cautiously and it exploded, unleashing magical anomalies that attacked. They were, however, eventually slain.

Decided to check out Shroud Hearth Barrow in Ivarstead. Got rid of its weird inhabitant, and then received the Sapphire claw, which allowed further entry into the depths of the Barrow. Have only encountered draugr and skeletons so far, and several traps, to which Marcurio is annoyingly oblivious to. I have had to reload a few times to resurrect him, due to his complacency, triggering giant hammers and poison darts, not to mention getting himself stuck underwater.

Have not found anything of interest in the barrow yet, but the journey continues...

Shade spent the better part of today doing some recon to rescue a fellow Argonian who seems to be trapped in a deep cave system...he used to be a miner, but now he's held prisoner. Shade managed to get a few rooms in before finding that Darkwater is full of Chaurus and falmer...foes he hasn't encountered yet on this adventure. So he had to beat a hasty retreat and go find more ingredients for invisibility, health, and stamina potions. The pass seems to be flooded in some parts, so it's good that he can breathe underwater...it wouldn't do to leave a Hist-Brother trapped in a place like this.

Felina got into a fist fight with Benor today. Not her usual manner of doing things but she experienced a fiery moment. :| The fight lasted a bit of time and she almost lost, considering Benor is huge compared to her. And Onmund's berating didn't help her nerves any. "Who taught you to fight?"

Uh...she's a tiny lady that exhausts easily. Back off. Not very supportive for a spouse, huh? After she punched Benor hard and brought him to his knees, he called her a friend and she's one step closer to helping the people of Hjaalmarch and becoming thane. An interesting way of doing it. Sporting a bloody nose, Felina decided she didn't even want to take a look at their new land and they took off to Whiterun instead to get a reading from Olava and deliver some stupid note to the Temple of Kynareth. Onmund will be delivering the paper since Felina doesn't like temples much.

Short version
Delia-Jessamine Maric, Breton stealth-mage and increasingly responsible citizen:
1. Continued traveling to Winterhold with Torvar
2. Cleared Cronvangr Cave of vampires to protect her friends that live nearby
3. Killed some mages at Fort Kastav and decided to rethink her mage-fighting tactics
4. Tried to not give Torvar the wrong idea - about their relationship and about what happened to some Imperial soldiers
5. Had to kill some wolves and a bear to be a good thane
6. Arrived in Winterhold feeling stressed

Long version
Spoiler:
Jess and Torvar slept at Honeyside (Torvar slept in Iona's room, sort of) and left for Winterhold before dawn. The trip to Windhelm was uneventful, except for an attack by another hapless DB assassin. Somebody really dislikes my little Breton.

In Windhelm, a guard warned them to stay away from Cronvangr Cave because it is inhabited by vampires. Checking her map, Jess saw that it is near Darkwater Crossing and Mixwater Mill, which made her worry about Annekke and the other miners, and the lonely woman who ran the sawmill. Two days before, she couldn't be bothered with vampires in Falkreath Hold - but these Eastmarch vampires concerned her. After trading with Niranye, Jess decided that she and Torvar should go immediately to Cronvangr Cave. The place was crawling with spiders, but fortunately, the vampires were not the tough Volkihars. She and Torvar cleared the lair, and went to Kynesgrove for the night.

They resumed the trip the next morning. While sneaking past Fort Kastav, a skeleton spotted Torvar, which alerted some mages and additional skeletons. Jess summoned two Dremora, but immediately thought it was a bad idea - what if the mages turn the Dremora against herself and Torvar? She decided not to give them the chance. She applied a custom poison damaging Magicka and Magicka Regeneration to her dagger, equipped her Shield of Solitude, and ran through the gate. Fighting against other mages brings out a visciousness in the petite Breton that can mask her unrefined melee skills - Jess slashed the nearest mage with the poisoned dagger, then ran after the other mage and struck her repeatedly until she was dead. Torvar soon arrived, and they killed the poisoned mage. Neither Dremora was to be found, making Jess wonder if they had been turned during the fight and expelled to Oblivion when their new masters died. She decided to rethink her tactics against mages - something she should have done already, but thinking tactically had not been a strength during her heavy drinking days.

Jess had never been inside Fort Kastav. She had always been content to slip past the fort, avoiding unnecessary combat. Now the newly responsible Jess realized that, as Thane of Winterhold, she was obligated to make the road safer for travelers. So she and Torvar entered the fort and cleared both areas.

Now it was after dark, and Winterhold was still a few hours away. However, Fort Kastav had only one bed, and Jess was uncomfortable sharing it with Torvar at this time - she was trying to be more careful about such things than she used to be, and didn't want to risk giving him the wrong idea. So the pair continued on to Winterhold.

Along the way, Jess encountered two situations that put her duties as Thane in conflict with her beliefs.

First, they encountered a group of Imperial soldiers, apparently lost deep in hostile territory - and approaching a Winterhold guard. Jess had supported the Empire when she arrived in Skyrim, but now she was neutral, influenced by several friends who seemed to support the Stormcloak cause (Annekke, Iona, and even Jordis sometimes yell "Skyrim is for the Nords!" in combat).

As Thane of Winterhold, Jess felt obligated to help the guard in the upcoming fight, but she did not want to fight Imperial soldiers. She had been in this situation before, though, and knew a way to handle it. She told Torvar to wait behind while she went ahead. When the fight began, she used Healing Hands to keep the guard alive until the Imperials were defeated. Then she returned for Torvar. As they walked past the Imperial bodies on the road, Jess told Torvar "I didn't do any of this" - but she didn't know if Torvar believed her.

Later, they encountered wolves and a bear along the road. Jess regretted that as thane, she had to kill the animals to make the road safer. She had always spared the lives of animals (except skeevers, spiders, other nasty creatures) - even dangerous animals on the roads, but she realized that she should not do that any longer. Jess decided that she would still spare dangerous animals in the backcountry and in holds where she was not a thane, but that she would have to kill some animals to make the roads safer.

They arrived in Winterhold after midnight. Jess began to feel the stress of taking her duties seriously.

Returned to Goldenglow to collect the loot I hadn't been able to carry away the first time around, ended up over-encumbered and had to call Frost to help me lug all that stuff back to town; did a lot of selling after which I think no merchant in Riften had more than a few Septims left in their drawers. Then I remembered I had gathered a lot of ingredients lately and, having got Elgrim's permission to use his lab for a while, improved my alchemy skill by two levels. I also did a shill job for Vex on none other than the nemesis of the Guild, Mjoll the Lioness herself; unfortunately fiddling with the lock on Aerin's house was not an option as one of the guards was keeping an eye on it all the time, so I ended up picking the key from Aerin's pocket while the two of them were having lunch at the Bee and Barb and brazenly walking in and out as if I owned the place. Take that, you self-righteous [&@%!]! (No offense to all Mjoll-lovers - I quite adore her myself, just not in this life.)

Delia-Jessamine Maric, responsible and stressed Breton stealth-mage:
1. Arrived in Winterhold with Torvar, got an assignment from Malur Seloth, and collected a bounty.
2. Investigated Frostflow Lighthouse and came away feeling powerless and depressed about the world.
3. Took Sleeping Tree Sap.

Long version
Spoiler:
Delia-Jessamine Maric, newly responsible and stressed Breton stealth-mage, arrived in Winterhold after midnight with Torvar and rented a room at the Frozen Hearth Inn (we'll pretend Torvar got his own room). After sleep and breakfast, Jess was feeling better and went to Birna's to trade. Then she took Torvar to the College of Winterhold. Not long after her arrival in Skyrim, Jess had attempted to be a student there but had dropped out. Now, her practical skills in magic rivaled those of the faculty, but she had little academic interest in magic. Still, she was welcome at the College because she had helped several faculty members - most notably Tolfdir at Saarthal, and Urag, who had gotten her interested in reading. She trained with Faralda and said hello to Brelyna, who had once been Jess's closest friend in Skyrim but who was now lost in her studies.

Then they returned to Winterhold and found Malur Seloth, to find out if he had any business for Jess to attend to. Indeed, Korir had placed a bounty on some bandits at the Wreck of the Winter War. The next day, they took care of the bandits and collected the bounty. Malur had no more work for them.

Jess decided that she and Torvar would go to Frostlflow Lighthouse the next morning. She had been near it before and had seen a dead horse outside - a sign of trouble? - but had not investigated. She decided that a good thane would have looked into it already, but better late than never. They left before dawn and the trip to the lighthouse was mostly uneventful, aside from helping some Stormcloaks kill a troll.

Inside the lighthouse was a bloody and horrifying scene. Investigating further, Jess knew what had happened there. They went to the cellar, where Jess told Torvar to wait* in case any survivors returned. Unfortunately, the situation became more disturbing the further Jess went into the cave. After concluding her investigation, she returned to Torvar. They went to the top of the lighthouse and granted the last wish to one of the deceased.

Jess and Torvar returned to the Frozen Hearth Inn, where she asked Torvar to let her be alone for a while. She bought three bottles of wine and sat in a lonely corner of the inn. While drinking her wine, she thought about what she had seen that day and felt sad and powerless. This was a new feeling, different from being absorbed in her own problems. She went into her room and sat in the chair. Quickly drinking the third bottle, she remembered the Sleeping Tree Sap that she had with her. She drank the sap and the world softened around her. The next thing she knew it was morning.

*Actually, I had to redo that part. Originally Torvar followed, but he became stuck far in the cave when he would not follow Jess down a jump-off point. In the second try, I had him wait in the cellar.

Continued the journey through Shroud Hearth Barrow.
I came across a door puzzle that needed the usual '4 animal symbol' combination, followed by more draugr of various forms popping out until I got to a large room with a port-cullis gate. I did not like the look of this cavernous room and I could see that there were many tombs inside. Marcurio didn't help with a comforting comment of, 'I dont like the look of this.'
Inside the room many skeletons and restless draugr continued to burst out, until a draugr scourge lord came down for the finale. Surprisingly, he wasnt too hard to kill, however he was very far away to start with, allowing me to get a good few fireballs fired at him before he got close.
After the event, a chest of loot was to be found and a word wall, with the first word of the Kyne's Peace shout, that stops animals from attacking and fleeing.

I left the Barrow and went walking around the wilds, looking for a wild animal to try the new shout on. On the way, I thought id try out the shout id learnt the other day, Animal Alliance. I shouted at some chickens to see if theyd come running over, but they just sat there. I also tried it on a fox but nothing happened either. Perhaps they are not suitable animals.
After a while of walking about using the detect life spell, I finally found a sabre cat. I used the Kyne's Peace shout as it ran towards me and it stopped in its tracks. Groovy!
I then followed a path as it got dark, hearing the roar of a dragon as I did so. I never saw it though and as I approached a waterfall, I saw a wooden vegetable cart flowing with the current in the river.
It was then completely dark and, as I looked up at one of the moons, I saw the light of a large torch that marked the entrance to Darkwater Pass...

Funny coincidence... (see below)

Marilyn killed a certain nasty old lady in Riften and thought it best to remove herself from the city until some grass had grown over the matter. She had also been given some Thieves Guild jobs in Whiterun and further westwards, so that was the direction she turned. Near Faldar's Tooth she was attacked by some bandits but managed to wipe them off on a nearby bear, and further down the road she was saved from a vampire by a group of Vigilants of Stendarr (first time ever I was actually glad to see those guys), then continued her journey without anything remarkable happening until she was approaching Ivarstead.

A short distance from the village she discovered a campfire in the wilderness and reconnoitring found none other than her old friend Gorr camping there. The reunion was an awkward one at first, but in the end Marilyn conceded that she may have overreacted a bit in her grief about Vigilance's death, and the two made peace [/RP]. Gorr told her that somebody who seemed to know him from his Arena days was spreading rumours about him, and they decided to team up and find out more.

First, however, they stopped at the Vilemyr Inn, where Wilhelm told them about the haunting of Shroud Hearth Barrow, and agreed to investigate it. This was Marilyn's first run-in with the walking dead of Skyrim, and although they defeated the draugr and escaped with their lives it was not an experience she's keen to repeat anytime soon. (Talking about Requiemified deleveled draugr who are highly resistant to normal weapons; add ELFX darkness and the creepy dungeon ambience from Sounds of Skyrim, and you've got a pretty immersive and scary dungeon crawl experience.) At the end of the catacombs they discovered a strange stone wall with an inscription in even stranger characters that looked like claw marks, but none of them could read it, and it told them nothing. (I'm playing with Skyrim Unbound, and Marilyn is not the Dragonborn this time but just a regular cutpurse/cutthroat, so no words of power, no shouts, no dragon souls.)

Zhalira has been a very busy Khajiit these past few days. Abbreviated version: joined the Thieves' Guild and Dark Brotherhood, finished tracking down the ancient assassins (mod), became a vampire, did a bit of scroll hunting.

Today specifically, Zhalira headed to the College of Winterhold to see about tracking down the last scroll required for the prophecy. On her way out of Winterhold after visiting Septimus, she and Serana bumped into a Khajiit monk named Qa'Dojo (Interesting NPCs), and he decided to tag along with them when they headed into Blackreach. They made their way through Alftand and Blackreach with little trouble and returned to Septimus with the scribed lexicon (and the actual scroll). Afterwards, Zhalira decided that she should probably sell some of the crap she was lugging around, and she also spent a bit of time making new armor and weapons for her two loyal followers (elven gilded armor for both, elven sword for Serana, elven waraxe for Qa'Dojo).
