I've been absent here for several days, a combination of getting back into another fandom (Venture Bros.) and getting kinda burnt out on Skyrim. I had to leave it and come back. Yesterday I pulled up one of my Illusion mages - this tall, dark, and handsome fellow - and rolled through a respawned Bleak Falls Barrow to test J'zargo's flame scrolls (with Fast Healing in the other hand, that devious cat). Then I brought J'zargo along on Onmund's amulet quest. Gotta have all my mage student followers at the ready.

Speaking of tall, dark, and handsome, I should make a Byron Orpheus mage character sometime.

Felina and Brelyna joined the Imperial Legion. Why would a DB assassin do such a thing? To be closer to the Emperor, of course.

A couple of firsts for me: an Atronach Forge Recipe (Storm Atronach tome :D ) and the Ansilvund quest.

Dalvus, my Good Guy, had a Daedric day yesterday. First, he, Faendal and Erandur made their way north from Markarth to track down an object for Clavicus Vile, and then, since it was nearby, decided to pay a visit to the statue of Meridia On the way, they were attacked by an ice wraith, a snow bear, and a blood dragon, all at the same time. The dragon let loose a mighty jet of fire, instantly killing the wraith and angering the bear. Dalvus and his friends were able to finish off the dragon once it had taken care of the bear. Now to find a shout to spend the soul on.

Once at the statue, they got caught up going through the temple there. It was just as they entered the temple they noticed Barbas had gone missing, even though they hadn't returned the object to Clavicus Vile yet. Possibly because of all the pathfinding they did en route. They hadn't quite finished the temple when I had to sign off.

My level 30 died, which I was playing a permanent death on...

He went to travel to the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary from Falkreath, the guards stopped me for my bounty, I declined one, he attacked me, the other kept me stalled with another pay crime option list...

Before I knew it the first guard did a winning-kill by grabbing me with his warhammer and headbutting me! So brutal.

^ Just be glad it was Enthir who sent you there, not Aela (as with me). If it were Aela she'd insist on coming with you, facing the wrong way and setting off traps.

Cramped, isn't it? And those tight spaces are especially unpleasant with high-level draugr.

Sylvaine Emrys, after speaking to the leader of the Greybeards, isn't exactly pleased at the prospect of having to return to College in order to obtain the eponymous You-Know-What, especially as she anticipates a less than friendly reception after murdering J'zargo, so she's presently stalling by looking for words of power based on hints from Arngeir and an anonymous "friend". At Ancient's Ascent she had to battle an Arctic Dragon which has a few nasty abilities, but throwing everything fiery I could muster at it - atronachs, destruction spells, flame cloak and the Eye of Melka - its frost was thawed, its soul consumed and its bones cast down the mountainside. (I had left Cosnach and Madena behind to see how Syl would fare without followers, and she's about ready to face Alduin any time now.)

I finally played through Lurking in the Shadows, after having it downloaded for a while. Fantastic mod, very Amnesia-like quest, although I went through a little below the recommended level range. It was tough. I'll have some screenshots up later.

I killed a dragon, did some minor quests around Whiterun to prepare Skyndi for joining the Companions and got angry at some really nice armor mods for not having sensible leveled lists and crafting recipes compatible with SkyRe's version of Smithing tree. :?

Sylvaine continued her search for words of power at Rannveig's Fast. Approaching the ancient Nord ruin she had steeled herself against fighting dire hordes of undead, but all she met instead was a bunch of very polite and friendly ghosts and a rather incompetent warlock who, according to his words, seemed to harbour sinister intentions against her life which, however, he was far too absent-minded to put into action. Nobody was harmed, and we let him and his ghostly friends be.

(The background to this is, of course, that Syl has been a member of the warlock faction (by console) all game long, so Sild and his Subjugated Ghosts never turned hostile, although he still uttered his scripted dialogue threatening her with a painful death; it was all rather hilarious.)

Next was Dustman's Cairn, which happened to be relatively nearby and looked promising, but the corridors leading forth from the first chamber had collapsed, blocking any progress (*glowers at Bethesda*). Frustrated, Sylvaine decided she might as well return to the College to ask for directions to the Main Quest McGuffin and be done with it. She paid her bounty for killing J'zargo and was prepared to don sackcloth and ashes if it made the mages talk to her, but unfortunately they were far too preoccupied with dealing with the byproducts of Ancano's activities for any coherent conversation. Syl was initially quite at a loss for a solution to this situation, but the more she meditated on her quandary the more she felt inexorably and inexplicably drawn northwards. Following this strange intuition across the ice-floes of the frozen sea she met a half-crazy mage in a distant outpost who turned out to be the very man she'd been looking for without knowing it; clearly the Old Gods guided her steps today  .

Went to get the books from the Caller. Died twice thanks to [&@%!] Barbas. He kept getting in my character's way, making it IMPOSSIBLE for her to sneak or even escape offensive spells. She moves around a lot when she fights, its her survival mode, so yeah that was hella annoying. I hate Barbas. As awesome a companion as he is (and its rather hilarious watching NPCs run away from him) I understand why Clavicus Vile hates him so much.

Anyway, she released him shortly after that because he was an enormous headache.

Started a new male Nord named Jyr Shadow-Blade to test out a few new mods. Of course, I changed the character's sex later on to test some earrings (which only work on females) and decided the character looked better that way.

Other than that, I didn't really do that much. I haven't had much time to play.
All I really did was go through Bleak Falls (again) and start the Main Quest. Then ran off to Windhelm to join the Stormcloaks.

My Death Knight met a vampire by the name of Serana, the Death Knight had been turned only a day before but she became a 'pure' vampire at the request of her current Lord- Lord Harkon.
She proceeded to butcher the rogue vampires in Redwater Den and is now on her way to locate a Moth Priest.

Went through Silverdrift Lair and Forsaken Cave. Onmund is going through his aggressive faze again, charging past Felina and swinging his brand new sword at everything. Boys and their toys, I tell you. Its impossible for her to capture souls when he acts like this. *shakes head*

Merla decided to infiltrate the Thalmor Embassy before her other objectives in the area, and embraced the espionage pretty well. Only being disguised from a distance wasn't good enough, so it was back to the Warchief armor. She got through the main floor of Elenwen's Solar undetected, and took out Rulindil likewise. Failed to save Malborn though (one of these playthroughs, I'll manage it...).

Then it was on to some Dwemer ruins a little uncomfortably close to Druadach Redoubt. (I originially had Alternate Start for her as a Forsworn, then decided to restart without it and roleplay the capture.) Contact was avoided, as she's not ready to return yet, preparations on the warped soul gem finished, and the final Aetherium shard acquired.

I started the Civil War with my Nord character. Got up to the Markarth mission before my Skyrim decided to crash. Which was fine, I guess. I had been playing for more than two hours before that point. It was about time it crashed.

There was one point in the questline so far where I'm fairly certain Ulfric was supposed to be talking to Galmar... Only Galmar wasn't there, so it looked like Ulfric was talking to the air. This was probably right before the Battle for Whiterun since I recall coming out of Windhelm to find Galmar trying to order me around. Strange folks. Of course, Ralof had an invisible weapon going into Korvanjund, too.

My Death Knight hunted down the Moth Priest and dealt with the puny Dawnguard protecting him.
Now she's got to foot slog to all those
Spoiler:
Elder Scrolls.
Joy.

Picked up my 61 Dark Elf Assassin again,

I had finished the DB and Imperial questlines, and only have the final quest in the TG (But I like my key...) to go, but I decided it was finally time for me to play through Dawnguard. (Yup, I have had it for months, but never started it.) I believe I saved and quit just after finishing the Vale.

Holy crap that place is big! After seeing the Soul Cairn I thought I'd never be that lost again, but I was wrong...

Anyways, after leaving trails of dead Falmer for miles, and slaughtering a few new-found Frost Giants (as well as a couple of dragons) I decided to return to Heljarchen Hall for some rest.... and to tidy up all the [&@%!] that had decided to teleport from display cases to the floor...

I forgot how incredibly epic this character is. And how many bounties I have.
I travelled to Solitude to do a bit of shopping at the fletchers, but after realising I had a 20,000+ bounty there, I decided to find other places to shop.

Main quest spoilers (Elder Knowledge/Discerning the Transmundane):

Spoiler:
Following directions from crazy Septimus, Sylvaine and her followers Cosnach and Madena explored another Dwemer ruin, much to Syl's annoyance, as she deeply abhors the Dwarves and all their works. Conflict with the Falmer inhabiting the ruins was generally avoided by sneaking and casting Harmony, except for the odd warmonger who proved too powerful for her illusion spells (but not for her destruction magic and Cosnach's mace) and had to be done away with. In the huge caverns below they came across a dragon who had apparently been trapped there by the Dwarves (no doubt to be studied and used as a model for the construction of that metallic travesty, the Mechadon); after a brief fight, the ageworn worm was overcome and yielded its soul to the Dragonborn. Shortly thereafter the three travellers reached the Tower of Mzark where, after some fiddling with the machinery of the Dwemer, they obtained the Elder Scroll they had sought for and found their way back to the surface.
