Here you go.

It may just be another 3-5 years but I appreciate they are taking their time.

Alarra EDIT: Thread was originally titled "Todd Howard confirms development of TES VI". Todd Howard had said in the original video that they were working on it but that it was a long way off, but from Pete Hines' later comments it sounds like they have not actually started on it yet.

Nice to finally hear some official word about it. I'd been quietly hoping that it'd be out in the next year or two, but I'm fine with it taking longer than that; a top quality ES game is what matters.

(Plus, my plan was always to build myself a gaming PC in time for VI, but recently I realized it probably won't make sense to build one until I graduate in <4 years, due to the hectic, frequently-traveling nature of my program. Now that it looks like VI won't be coming out until then anyway, I probably won't have to worry at all!)

Thought this was already confirmed? I wonder if it has anything to do with the "Project Greenshade" leak.

Todd's comments are worrying. The fact that they "don't even have the technology" makes me think it will be some sort of revolutionary attempt to push boundaries. Best case scenario, it's just a new engine. I kinda don't want to wait until 2022 for another VR Minecraft sim or whatever they have in mind.

Looks less like "confirmed" and more like "We wrote a bunch of potential titles on a whiteboard. Once we settle on one we'll begin thinking about setting, story, art and gameplay."

That may very well be true. Still, it's nice to know TESVI is on their current project list.

I really, really hope it doesn't require VR or some similar gimmicky BS. If that's a feature, it should be optional. That stuff is not ever going to win over the majority of old school AAA game title fans. It's like the Wii-mote of the 2010's.

I wouldn't say it's confirmed more of a "Yeah, it's happening at some point. We're kinda busy atm." thing. But if there is one thing that Bethesda needs to take time with and replace is the engine. It still contains Gamebyro and Creation is said to have reached it's peak with Fallout 4 along with being dated. Personally, i think it looks fine.

Probably get an offical announcement when they have most of it done. They did it with Skyrim. Announced at E3, released the following year. I think.

I hope it's not going to have some gimmicky crap as a main feature. E.g. throwing in VR at the cost of well, the game's quality. Or it being Scrollcraft VI: The Duty unleashed.

But i think, they do tend to take 2-5 years on average for TES titles. That said, i could see Zenimax getting the usual TES team to pour resources into Online once they got bored of making content.

Pete has said clarified that we won't be seeing TES6 for "many years", since the two projects in between are so large.

Guess ESO is endgame.

Well great, I probably won't even care about Elder Scrolls anymore by the time ESVI comes out.

Made this an announcement and tweaked the title slightly so that people don't get their hopes up, lol.

I'm glad they finally said something, and I don't mind waiting. We've got more than enough work to do on the wiki for ESO and Legends.

Well, in that case, maybe they'll have Skywind and Skyblivion done by then. Maybe.

Apparently, they have two massive open world projects in development. Either they are both Fallout and TES related or we are getting two massive open world new IPs from them. One will probably be sci-fi,the other modern or steampunk. Can't see them doing two massive fantasy franchises at once and well, doing a fantasy game will get it compared to TES.

OpenMW is nearing-ish completion. Somebody has even tried their hand at importing some Oblivion assets here.

Okay...well about their fans who don't play ESO? I appreciate taking their time to give us a sweet ass game but ugh...given that TES fans started with single player games I believe that should be their focus (although yea yea it's technically Zenimax for ESO).

Anyway, I still have plenty of Fallout to play and Skyrim won't get old for much longer with long breaks in between. Guess I'll survive another 3-5 years of waiting. I'm glad they finally at least put it on our radars.

I've been thinking about this as well. What are the games?? It's exciting. :)

You gotta come to the dark side eventually. In the short term, ESO is the future of the series, so it's your go-to fix if you want to visit Tamriel. Plus 90% of the content can be played solo - they were unsure at launch, but ZOS is now heavily targeting the singleplayer RPG crowd. It's basically an MMO lite.

No. I do not like MMOs.

I seriously doubt that, but if it were to ever happen that's the day I stop playing TES forever.

I mean ESO is no substitute for a Bethesda RPG if that's what you're looking for, but as far as TES is concerned it's very good.

As someone who doesn't like MMOs...I love ESO. It might not be the same as a SP game, but it's truly a fantastic game with a lot of great lore and I think you would be missing out on a lot not getting it. Just IMO

This may sound crazy but not Fallout or TES. Unless it's Skyout:NewWind of Steel. What? it could happen. they may do that. Skyrim and Fallout together as one mutated abomination that strikes fear into the hearts of both fanbases with Todd Howard laughing at their misery as he kills off the most popular characters.

That reminds me of a certain writer.

:P

It has to be Sci-fi. I can't see Bethesda not wanting to do that. Not Star Wars though as EA has the rights to that. Better not be fantasy. I have faith in Bethesda but two fantasy franchises? Kinda want something brand new from them in another genre. Or it's FALLOUT! IN SPAAAAAAAAAAAAACEEE!

Oh right, that happened.

Dovah is sad now.

Do really hope it's a brand new IP that doesn't resemble either TES or Fallout. That said, if it's two massive open world games that is padded out with fetch quests, someone is getting a beard in their bed.

I'm pretty sure they've already said the projects are new IPs, and they literally confirmed neither was TES.

Probably won't care for TES 6 if it comes out. Really just tired of the series barring some Morrowind and I do not trust Beth to make a quality, non buggy, non feature removed, etc, game. I've moved on.

If this is any indication, Tamriel Rebuilt will probably be 'finished' before we get TESVI. And I have to say, it's looking awesome already.

My guess based on this news would be that we won't see TESVI until 2020/2021.
