Has anyone gotten a chance to read this book yet? I just learned about it on Amazon.

I just heard about it in this post. Is it written by just some fan of TES or is it someone that is currently or formerly involved in the game development process?

It's written by two theologians who have been active in the fan community for a few years. The focus of the book tints too heavily on Christianity for my liking, as TES religions draw from a number of major world religions, but it's okay for what it is.

So it's not even written by any of the TES staff? Not even entertaining the notion of it being lore-ish...I'm not religious so I guess I'll pass on it

You don't have to be religious to appreciate theology or comparative religion. Those were Michael Kirkbride's major areas of study in college, and he turned out to be probably the most well-known of the TES writers among fans. He likes the book, by the way, and he's friends with the guys who wrote and edited it. I've gotten to know them through FB. They're decent guys and the book is decent, too, but no it's not an official book in any way. It's kind of in the same vein as those "Gospel according to the Simpsons" type books. Like I said, it tries a little too hard to draw parallels between TES stuff and the white bread American version of Christianity, even when other religions would fit better as comparisons, but other than that weird bias it's not bad. It's not written poorly or anything. I can honestly say I'd neither recommend nor condemn it. I've read worse, but it misses the mark as far as I'm concerned.
