Not heard of the Septim-line Empress in an ESO book yet then?

Not to mention Herminius Cinna and the dozen other people they threw back in time.

What I still don't get is the setting, why not use the Dragonbreak in the First Era? Would be much cleaner from a lore point of view.

The point of setting ESO back a thousand years in the 2nd era was to fill in a time that wasn't really known - prior to ESO it was pretty blank, with a lot of history forgotten.

Unlike the 1st era, which is quite well established.

Except for the thousand or so years of missing time.

The First Era is almost as mythical and primordial at the Mythic. Better for it to keep its mystery. And, more practically, there was much less standardization, especially before the Second Empire and the Akaviri Potentates. Currency, roads, banks, books, guilds etc., etc. First Era Tamriel was a dramatically different place, and I'm sure one of Zenimax's chief concerns was making their MMO "feel" like a TES game. Would've been much harder to do that in the First Era.

I have to agree. While indeed the 1st Era would of been more anticipated and have alot to work with.. or rather the more developed and charted points of that era.. it lacks the freedom and perspective the 2nd Era can offer. From a design point of view.. that's clever. Up until now, TES games have generally been in chronological order.. but to try and make a prequel breaks the trend. I'll rather go with safe than turmoil

However.. I will say that the small bits of lore, such as books, errors, and stuff that only a small portion of the fanbase keep track of is what troubles me. Conflicting information really throws alot of stuff up to the wall <_< pitting canon against "canon", in a similar scenario like Arena.. Still, I really do hope alot of it is kept to a minimum.. last thing I want is a game breaker.

So, as expected, early access day, and the majority of bugs from the betas are still there, despite Zenimax' claims to the opposite. And just as expected, the megafailu^H^H^H^Hservers are starting to bug out.
If this isn't fixed by Friday, I fear this bomb will seriously hurt the Elder Scrolls franchise :-(

The missing 1000 years could easily have been a counting error, as has already been hypothesised in-universe.

Not easily. As I was saying here, Fal Droon's theory is incomplete. He represents the skeptical folk in Tamriel. But as we all know, the more skeptical people are in Tamriel, the more they find something unbelievable, the more likely that thing is to be true.

This game is separate from the single player games that came before it. It won't hurt the franchise. The only real thing it can hurt is Zenimax Online. Even then, the positive reviews far outweigh the negative so far.

Oh, please. Reviews? They're bought and paid for. Sorry, I have no patience for advertisements masquerading as journalism.

So you're saying the people posting on the forums here are bought and paid for? I meant of the people I've talked to here, the vast majority have enjoyed their time with the game.

I seriously doubt Zenimax would pay sites to give ESO a good review. They don't seem like the types to bribe sites into giving their games a decent score and most reviews comes from users. None of the major sites(that i'm aware of) have even reviewed it yet. But aren't we getting a bit off topic?

A lot of AAA developers do it.

We have gotten off topic, and to be honest the topic had no real merit to begin with. Locked.
