There is no way Bethesda won't release a new mainstream TES game, especially with the online version getting such polarized reviews. Plus, the amount of potential profit they'd miss would be ridiculous. As for a direct sequel with you being the Dragonborn or something. No way.

Your always a prisoner in TES games and I doubt the Dragonborn would get caught again seeing as he is probably canonically level 80+ in full Deadric with every shout and a has a horde of followers as well as being in charge of every major faction in Skyrim as well as having either the stormcloaks or imperials backing him/her. Then you add in the amount of dragons he/she has slain and it would take nothing short of a god to bring him down.

There was a fun little rumour (99% certain there was zero truth to it) that Bethesda was going to have another Studio work on an Adventures style spin-off to fill the time between Skyrim/ESO and TESVI. Because TESVI seems to be so far off, particularly if we assume it wont come before (or even close after) Fallout 4 (amounting to a far longer time between games than any other TES game), this idea, however unlikely, would seem to be the best hope for a new TES game in the near future.

Debates about the likelihood of such an occurrence aside, what kind of spin-off title would y'all like to see if such a thing were to eventuate? A more traditional open world sandbox RPG, a more linear TES-themed action/adventure game (the opportunity to expand on TES lore and tell a more focused story), or something different?

Personally, I wouldn't mind a more defined, linear title, with plenty of periods of pre-existing lore available for such a game that the main series would never be able to touch (The War of the First Council, for example). A more open sandbox game set in a land other than Tamriel could also be interesting, although I do feel that Akavir, for example, would lose some of its appeal if it had to be fleshed out so that it could be turned into a game.
