I think Australia has just now got around to rating the game and they just classified it wrong. If it is a remake, it will be a huge mistake, I believe.

i don't think it's a remake, i was thinking of a "re-release" on xbox 360 and PS3.
not a remake, just a port.

Much like Doom.

I'd rather they remake Daggerfall. It was better in every way.

I can't see them just re-releasing Arena as is; it's a dated game and wouldn't be appreciated by the modern generation of gamers. A remake would be a costly endeavor that I doubt Bethesda would look into at this time. Once you do one, you have to redo the others, and I can see people bickering about redoing everything up to Oblivion.

Naaah. Some things are left better just the way they are: aged delicately, like fine wines.

Still, interesting little read!

Never mind, it was all just a misunderstanding.

Quote:
Bethesda's Pete Hines has clarified that, "There is no new version of the game coming," explaining that the rumour was caused by a "clerical mix-up" on the part of the Australian Classifications Board.

"It apparently was never formally in their system because the release of Arena pre-dated [the Australian Classification Board's] existence," he explained to Joystiq.

"This is simply an error on [the classification board's] part. It should just say PC, not multiplatform. We've notified them and they're going to fix. There is no new version of the game coming. Just a clerical mix-up."

So this thread can be locked.

It is not wise to rerelease it and expect people to pay for it when you can download it within minutes from their site. Provided you have DOSbox. Can see a lot of tablets getting thrown at the wall due to Arena's infamous opening dungeon. In fact, i think it exceeds the Souls franchise in terms of diffculty.Just the first dungeon.

Arena has aged like milk.
