I was playing skyrim today, and thought that a theater mode would be sweet, because the it would help people make youtube videos, and also because it would be fun to mess with the flying camera. What do you think?

I think you can already do this, but you must buy the equipment extra.

On PC it's doable via console, but at minimum a proper photomode would be really good, especially if it could go on the consoles as well...

Basicly its when you can review past gameplay and save clips of it.

I think that's a very tedious feature; I was never much into that and consider it a waste of space. There are programs that allow you to record your gameplay anyway, particularly on the PC...so it is possible.

Theater Mode is more than just recording game play and reviewing what you have recorded, it has a free roaming camera that you can move around so you can, in theory, get some amazing shots.

That's what that's called! I can't tell you how many times I've been playing and have wished for something like that. To record a certain event or to set up the view in such a way to get a certain shot that I just can't seem to set up on my own... Yes. :]

Are there mods/software to achieve this effect or something like it? I've seen stills and video that, while not quite what the OP was looking for, did allow for something extra. ... I hope that made sense. I'm not quite awake yet. :]

I think this would be a cool idea for TES VI (or any TES game). It would be nice to see how battles play out outside of first person and to catch events that you missed because they happened behind you...

The best example that I can think of for games that have theater mode is Halo 3.

Yes, but you can also pause, slo-mo, reverse and many other nice features. Too bad that only fps's have it implemented...

It's a useful feature for games like Halo, where you cab go back and watch the game from your enemy's perspective, but other than screenshot and video making I'm not sure what value this would add to the game.

It would probably be taxing on your system as well, since it would have to track the movements of hundreds of objects for hours at a time, unlike the dozen or so objects and players in Halo that it tracks for 15 minutes or less.

i spent more time in halo 3 making mini movies than anything else. it's a great feature for any game.

That would be awesome for video making. I have PC, so I can use the console to pause the action and use the free-floating camera to get the perfect shot, but that's only good for taking pictures. It would be cool to get a good battle on video and then look at it from different angles.

I may have heard this wrong but on the Rooster teeth podcast, they were talking about the new share button on the PS4 controllers, apparently, it enables you to play back the last 30 minutes (+ or -) of any game you played and upload it straight to youtube.

with that though, you dont get a free cam, it just plays back exactly how you saw it on your screen, so a Halo style theater mode would be better, just for the free cam
