~~Of course the game isn't out yet, so this is mostly speculation~~

I was just thinking about it: which audience do they try to adhere to with this game? I've put a list together with the elements of the game they already disclosed, and to which audience they appeal to the most:

Elder Scrolls fans:
1. TES lore (very important)
2. Takes place in all of Tamriel

MMO fans:
1. 3rd person view
2. "MMO art style" (not entirely ofcourse, but many MMOs got this art style)
3. The standard-MMO different factions battling each other (personally I would rather have seen a more traditional Elder Scrolls faction divide between guilds, houses and more obscure and secret societies, with Imperial guards trying to keep a close eye on your every move, it would have been far, far more interesting. I've got a sense of been there, done that with this system)
4. The WoW standard: each faction has is own, pre-set races (no freedom of choice in the race-faction department) and also their own lands, meaning you can't go anywhere you like and there's no real PvP in your own lands.

I feel like they are trying to drag MMO-fans in more than they are trying to drag TES fans in (I'd say the balance is something like 70%/30%. But again, this is only a discussion of the things they already disclosed. Maybe they are purposely disclosing things that draw MMO/mainstream players in because they've got some TES fan afrodisiac up their sleeve or (gods help us) they think TES fans are already definitely going to play the game.

Well, these are my lists and conclusion. If you wanna add something please do, or if you disagree please explain. I'm all ears!

I just assumed it would be in first person. :/ But I agree completely with you that the balance is way off.

I would just like the clarify there isnt anything that says you cant go to the other factions lands, just that each group has their own leveling content.

Lets also not forget stuff like
-Mundus stones
-The compass
-Dungeons that have quests that you aren't pointed to and just find

That are very TES like.

I don't know much about it, but I feel that elder scroll fans may be disappointed, not because it might be bad, but because people will still want it to be like the other TES games. People may like it as a game, but wish that it wasn't TES, if that makes sense.

I think as well, that you will have gotten used to the whole "You are a legendary hero" concept, which will assuming be lacking in this MMO; or if not, will not fit into existing lore too well, and will be cheapened by the fact that you're running round with thousands of other 'legendary heroes'.

Therefore, I think they may aim towards the MMO fans rather than TES fans

I think this MMO just looks like all the other MMOs out there , i dont think it should be made , from all i've read i havent noticed anything tremendously different from other MMOs , or anything that this particular one offers thats good ... i simply cant understand why anyone would play it .... i think people will try it for a while , and then just go back to all the other MMOs , like WoW and stuff like that

but i personally dislike MMOs , and havent played one for about 3 years , so maybe my information is wrong , and maybe i dont know what MMO fans want

I don't know if this is true. For me, it isn't. I actually don't like the idea of being the super mega legendary dragon-born hero guy. When I'm fully immersed, I see myself more as a common adventurer, who happens to make it kinda far in the world. I mean, I am rather a known celebrity in Tamriel because of my actual deeds in the game, either good or bad, or choose to stay in the shadows. Also, they have already said that they are gonna respect the lore 100%. These are not really the problems for me personally.

Yeah I think this is the single thing that bothers me the most. I don't know why, because gameplay-wise it shouldn't be that much of a deal. Maybe I'm just nagging, but still it bothers me. I hope you can toggle first person view, but even if you can, you are at a disadvantage to other who play in 3rd person (with a larger field of vision).

I thought I saw an interview with someone from Zenimax saying you need to make other characters in other factions to see everything. But we'll see.

Yeah compass and stuff that's kinda cool.

I saw a few short in-game footage vids just now, and I thought to myself, this looks exactly like WoW. Am I crazy or is it exactly the same? EDIT: I'm talking about the art style here.

The game looks like it plays more like Guild Wars 2, rather then WoW, to me.

-Limited skill bar
-Weapon determines your first 2 skills
-Reserved slot for a "ultimate" attack
-Stamina bar that you can use to break certain spell effects, sprint, and block
-Cross class skill combos like a rouge's oil slick and mages fireball = firewall
-Less reliance on the Tank/healer/DPs trinity

Hmn... I wonder if the characters will have delay when Attacking/Recieving. Have you played Rakion? (At the start it was AWESOME!, then they added fancy) Each character had a defined amout of attacks (only stats gain trough leveling) that you were able to use in real-time combat, so, you do fight! even better than on Skyrim! I know such thing would be a terrible hit for engine-procces, but in an instance as such as PvP (Like... an Arena!) it would be very pleasent.

Example: Griefing all the day? You have a purporse now!

If characters had too much of a delay it would make the manually controlled blocking pointless.
