Oh, and Todd Howard has given his life to witchcraft.

I can't post full links for some reason, so here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-_ank2x ... re=related
^This is the link that proposes the thread title.

It sucks that people are missing out on such a great game because of their religious beliefs. What do you think about this concept? I mean there's more of these kinds of videos than I thought there would be.

Side-topic:
I think someone should make a modded TES in-game book inserting a Imperial Necromancer named Todd Howard, employed by the Thalmor, with plots of ruling all of Nirn. I also think Todd Howard is the true evil behind the Skyrim civil war. And Alduin is also really Todd Howard in a very well done dragon cosplay.

This is my first post here, figured I should start with something strange, heh. Oh and sorry if this isn't the right section for this!

Explain a little more what I think I have an idea of what you're saying but elaborate.

I can't post the full youtube link for some reason, but the part of the link that I did post (copy/paste it at the end of http://www.youtubeDOTcom) leads to a video where someone talks in a serious manner about why Christians should not play Skyrim due to it presenting satanic ideas to the masses, and also mentions how Todd Howard must have given his life to witchcraft (his name pops up in the video a few times actually). The video is a bit more elaborate than that description though.

There's always fanatical Christians ranting about nothing in particular. Just look at the Christian controversy around Harry Potter.
I don't know any Christians actually like that, though, so I believe it's just a conservative minority.

These crop up for almost every non-religion backed entertainment, regardless of what form it's in
Fantasy based RPGs tend to be the main target because of their resemblance of real life combined with otherworldly or supernatural elements that draws from real life mystique

It is rather amazing how many people can commit defamation and libel while claiming righteousness, but don't mind me

@Adventus: new users require a wait period or confirmation from a moderator to do stuff like posting links (for spambot/fishing reasons)
In the mean time for those that are curious, but don't want to mess with urls: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-_ank2xTeo&feature=related

I'm a devoted Christian and I do not see anything "Satanic" about these games. Sure...we have Evil Dark Assassins, Vampires, Mages and Sorcerors. But that's part of lore and pretend-fantasy.

These are things we have in the real world as well. Just because villains are portrayed in a game and exist in real life, does not make a game Satanic, that is ridiculous.

By no means do you have to play your character as any of these things. But it doesn't matter. Fanaticism will always raise it's ugly head. It's just a VIDEO GAME.

It is just a video game, yes, but people get upset over lots of things for what seems to be no reason. I wouldn't get too worked up about it: just don't let them ruin the fun for you! ;)

Hahaha how ridiculous! There was a time that even Pokémon had "devilish messages within".

But I like that Todd Howard idea in-game. But make it an anagram. Something like Art Whoddod...

Even Minecraft got some

Some younger people wouldn't make the connection and just assume it as the humorous statement that it is :P

I does not get it...

oh! by the way, "satanic" means "away from god" or "unrelated". Such thing as witchcraft does exist... believe me, and well, what would you prefer? asking for healing to an invisible thing or paying some money to your neighbour?

Now, those satanic simbols DO are related to witchcraft, mostly the five-pointed star (represents the six five elements of harmony "the terrenal word", and well, the aspect of it having horns (one tip as a base) was given by some witch hunter cristians to make it look evil.

And I doesn't think witchcraft as an evil thing (you know... healing is good), but it bounds you to the earth, and atracts something else...

you do know conservatism and religious beliefs are directly tied to low IQ, right?

I'm sorry... what? What does that even mean? Where is your evidence that this is true?

Such a perfect question for this thread... :)

By the way, just in case (and not directed at you Frost Mage), I don't hold the belief that I posted in the thread title. I wasn't sure if some comments in here were directed towards me or not, so just thought I'd point that out.

I don't now why, but Todd Howard is starting to remind me of Mannimarco...

Go to 2 minutes exactly into the video, he makes a pretty good argument for why you should think about siding with the Fallen One. And also, E3 will like your game if you pledge to the aforementioned Dark Lord...that actually explains a lot, to be honest.
