My vote personally goes to The Poison Song. One of the first ones I bothered to read all the way through, and I love the way it's got that Greek Tragedy feel to it, especially where the ending is concerned.

Runners up would be The Real Barenziah, 2920 and Fool's Ebony for the lulz.

Honourable mention goes to Immortal Blood for having the best twist.

Fool's Ebony definitely has the most lulz
Then we've got The Real Barenziah, The Firsthold Revolt, A tale of Kieran...
Coming back with more as soon as I've refreshed my memory.

I suppose there's the 36 Lessons of Vivec, but they're so weird I could never really get into them. Great writing by Kirkbride though. And there's some amusing fourth wall breaking stuff in them if you read closely enough.

The Lusty Argonian Maid is good for any use, such as a favorite book.

Actually, my favorite is the Border Watch Black Horse Courier newspaper.

I love several books, but "A Game at Dinner" always manages to be my absolute favorite at the end of the day. It's dark, cunning, and clever, and the way the characters are written just tickles my fancy.

I think those are great as well, if only because I can see my Outlander character reading the books, going, "What on Nirn?" and dumping them into the Ashlands...which is probably what I'd do, too.

Edit: This probably belongs in TES General. Move it, move it!

I rather enjoyed the "A Dance in Fire" series, but there are so many good short stories that couldn't possibly choose just one

Ancient Tales of the Dwemer.
They may be bogus but they're fun to read. ^_^

"A game at dinner" is good.

If you think that's dirty, read the uncensored edition of The Real Barenziah. It's practically pr0n.

My favorite book in Oblivion was the Argonian Account series. I still am trying to hunt down the last book.

One of my favourites, too. I would remember word-for-word many of my favourite books, and recount them to my (very young) siblings. They enjoyed all the stories immensely. I think "The Armourer's Challenge," "Chance's Folly" and "The Locked Room" inspired the most retellings.

I can't remember the name anymore, but it was the book about Mankar Cameron's father, Cameron Usurper and Mankar's own birth.
