I know most people don't have the attention span to read all the books they pass in their travels. but for those of you who do whats your favorite? personally i have a soft spot for the real berenziah, it could almost be a real book on its own.

I know this is going to be said somewhere in the threas for kicks but 'The lusty Argonian maid' Is really one of my favourites, always makes me smile.

The books that explore the history and lore of the TES world are quite interesting, like the book describing the seige of Sance Tor.

"The Horrors of Castle Xyr" was a very good (if short) read. I have it on display in my house because it was so good.

This is going to sound weird, but every so often I just sit down with the game and read some of its books.

My current fave is is a short read and one of the less-common books in the game: The Posting of the Hunt. Upon reading it, I get the unmistakeable feeling that this book was intended to be quest-related, perhaps for a quest which didn't make it to production and the book just got left behind. It also seems reasonable that this book might have been intended to be linked with the Caught in the Hunt quest. In both the book and the quest, the quarry of the hunt may obtain its freedom and avoid death by obtaining keys from the hunters.

I like many, many books.

But one of my favorites is the one called "The Armorer's Challenge".

I generally like in-game books; the fact that the game lore is actually so profound always makes me want to give the Bethesda team a big hug (not really, but still; the fact that they take the pain of developing their lore with such care makes me rejoice). All of them are truly inspiring for writing my own fan fiction and creating my own fan art.
If I had to choose a favourite book, I'd go for 'Real Barenziah', because it is written in a manner similar to a good historical novel; and 'Immortal Blood', because I love the way the climax is created through one sentence, and the information on vampires is also valuable, of course; I just love the fact that there are so many kinds of them, each more sinister than the next. 'The Argonian Account' and other books that provide geographical, ethnographical and otherwise scientific information on Tamriel are also good reads.
Annnd... 'The Lusty Argonian Maid'... well, it's 'The Lusty Argonian Maid'. Every household should have it! (joooking :P )

The Lusty Argonian maid reminds me everytime of old Curio and Morrowind. Maybe we can see in Skyrim another act ;-). Or we could see his other book.

This is a huuuge Necropost (which is generally frowned upon). However, I'll wait and see if this reignites the conversation, as it doesn't really seem one to die off too quickly if it gets going again..

Interesting topic, you're right, it seems a waste to let it die.

I haven't read many of the books yet. I think my favorites so far, though, are The Real Barenziah, and The Mirror. (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:The_Mirror)

The Horror of Castle Xyr or The Real Barenziah, Immortal Blood had a pretty good twist near the end too, oh and Dwemer History and Culture is nice if you like speculative books.

I actually have a habit of Collecting every book in every series and will have a notepad near me to mark them off one by one as I find them.

I really liked the Immortal Blood book. I may have to take a look around the library and read some others.

A dance in Fire is my favourite series of books :)

it was a great adventure and the main character, for once, wasnt some kind of super warrior or soldier or something,he just sat behind a desk, and thats what made it great

Ruminations on the Elder Scrolls is fun to read. Really frees your imagination while making you use your thinking box.

My favourite book was three thieves, closely followed by the Argonian account and The dance in Fire series, which both had the same character so I'll count them as one.

For me, I'd have to say the entire 2029 series. Great books. All 12 of them.

Immortal Blood is a geat read, and it's cool how you meet Morvath in Skyrim.

One of my favourites is the Locked Room, Incident in Nercrom is pretty good as well.

How Orsinium Came to the Orcs (I think thats the correct title) is one of my favorites. Also the Black Arrow, Myths of Sheogorath, and that one where a guy gets his wood elf slave to teach his son to use a bow, I forget the name.
