Is this quest a part of TES canon?

Fri Feb 22, 2013 11:12 pm

Quest I am talking about is here.

I do not think this quest can be considered a part of canon at all do to one of the Councilors reappearing in a certain Skyrim DLC, plus I have not seen any mention of it in any in-game books in Oblivion or Skyrim. I still would like to know if this quest is(or even could be) considered a part of the TES story.Sorry if this was not the place to put this, move it if necessary.

Guess it's a LOT harder to kill a mage than we originally thought.

All quest are canon.

There would have to be a few exceptions though in order for things to make sense in the TES story though, this quest included.

No, there is always a loop hole. All quest are canon.

:| So I guess a dragon break occured or something silly along those lines?

You know that quest can also be "completed" by killing Trebonius.

I usually wound up killing him eventually. something about him not praising my deductions on the Dwemer and their not so understood existence.... I'd see red and poof! trebonius is in a similar state of existence as the Dwemer

No, there is just always a loop hole. For this quest, you can say there is a double.

I guess it's one of those instances where we thought he was killed but he survived somehow. They're all pretty powerful and old.

No telling what he's hiding under that robe. Might be a new body stitched from several bodies... or something like that.

If game events conflict with later info, we discredit it on wiki lore articles. So no, that quest obviously didn't happen in full.

Should we expect other councilors from that quest to have survived? Are there any "lifespan" issues?

There is really only the giant meteor and volcano issue.

Don't forget the whole concept of an Elder Scroll - it's the ultimate loophole. Every person who reads it can interpret it in a different way, and each reading can be with a completely different Hero following a different path. That's how we can have heroes who do such different things in so many different ways, and still have all questlines "fulfilled" in terms of lore. This one may have completed in a different way is all.

The Telvanni are known by reputation to be powerful necromancers. Their Lords are possibly Liches. A small inconvenience such as having one's physical form destroyed wouldn't stop such a sorcerer forever.

I see.
Thanks guys, that has been bugging me ever since I saw that Telvanni mage in DG.

Yeah. Neloth isn't the sort to let a silly little thing like death stop him...
