I know my first character is going to be an axe-wielding nord badayuzee, but what should I do..dual wield axes? use 1 sword 1 axe? use a 2h axe? use a shield and axe? He will use heavy armor and maybe some magic...not sure if I will use magic or not, I will have to see how effective it is since magic requires a weapon slot now

Dual wielding sounds fun. But as the game isn't out yet, I can't give you any specific reasons why one setup is better than another. I'd say the two-handed Battle Axe will be slow with high damage, the dual wielded axes will be quick with moderate-high damage and the axe and shield combination will obviously contribute to your Armour Rating.

@Frogmander - You are creating a bunch of topics about your first character. Can't you ask in some of the previous threads, use the search function or something?

OT: Dual-wielding sounds pretty barbaric to me - try out what you like in-game, and go from there.

I don't mean whats best, I just meant what do people think will be funner.

I don't think anyone can help you with this, for two reasons:
1. Nobody has played the game, so nobody knows which is 'funner'.
2. Nobody but you is you, so nobody will know what you like to play.

You see, for me, I wouldn't play as an axe-wielder, I'd dual wield Swords or go for a Sword/Magic or Sword/Shield combo.

Since he's asking for our opinion (Duru) on what we think will be the funnest/most effective, I'd say Two handed Battleaxe. Mostly because...
Spoiler:
of the Sweep perk in two handed weapons that hits multiple targets that one handed weapon perks lack

Gather up a group of attackers, sweep and watch as they fall; the ones that don't will die to the bleed damage

Greatswords would be my choice though, critical damage on already critical damage from power attacks? yes please

If i were you choose based off the perk info we got.
Me in the axe category is going to be my red orc with a two-handed battle axe, but on topic best choice is to check out the perks.

Hell yeah! That was my weapon of choice in Oblivion, too. Enchanted a silver claymore with frost and named it ICE. WINTERFELL FTW!

Sword. Always. Sword in the left hand, spell/second sword in the right. Then there will be the occasional times when I'll be using two spells, a dagger in the left and a spell (possibly invisibility) in the right and a bow. And I'll be doing the Companions using a two-handed sword (I'll also be original... Ice) to raise the skill (after One-handed is already at 100).

Oh, I get it. Ok, then I say you should do like me: I know I'll mainly be using a sword in the left, but there will be cases when I will change, as I said in the previous post. So you should do the same, and adapt to the situation. That means no 2H, just 1H and invest your perks in that skill. Here's the reason: 1H axe can be dual wielded, used with a spell or a shield; 2H only goes with itself. More combinations with the 1H, so go with that. And then the 2H to raise the skill and level up more.

Im thinking of being a nord too. I think I'm going to stick with a nice nordic longsword and a magic hand dedicated to a flamethrower spell.
though, nords aren't great at magic so i dunno....

Meh, who cares about +5 to some skill? Later on it will be 100 no matter what race you pick...I am just choosing Nords because I wuv demz <3 and axes because I wuv axes. I will probably go with a 1h+1h at first (though I am a bit confused, it seems identical to using one 1h as you will just alternate between left and right?), axe+shield during tough bosses, and 1h+magic when I feel like doing some magixz. I really am confused though if what the point of dual wielding would be..

I find no fault with my post, I clearly stated Battleaxe and gave my reason as to why
Quote:

Chaos infers that to mean "what do you think will be the funnest/most effective of the choices"
*Disappoint has been stacked twice*

Well, I still say, that our opinion means squat to his gameplay. I probably would only really consider dual wielding, because I dislike two-handed weapons, but that's my own personal preference, so I don't see it helping anyone else.
