You will be just fine if you truely had any worry at all lol. RAM should be just fine, but why not pick up more? I got 16 GB for $99 dollars on newegg. You really can't go wrong buying ram for pcs. Laptops are a little pricier.

Same here, I don't really care about amazing graphics in games, but if it's meant to be played at a certain level, it feels like something's missing in the game. Nobody likes playing on low settings :D

Due to the fact that I can't PM (why?), I'll post here:

Graphic card: Radeon X1950 XTX
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @2.40 GHz 2.40 GHz
RAM: 1.00 GB (Crucial Ballistix 1GB (2 x 512MB), Model BL2KIT6464AA804)
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard

I'm sure that I should buy more RAM, what about the graphic card?

Damn, RAM for my crappy mobo is expensive (I'm aiming at going from 1 GB to like 6, 8 or so. Anyways, my motherboard can't support more than 8 GB). The last thing I have on my mind, if I have RAM with CAS 4, timing 4-4-4-12 and voltage of 2.2V, can I mix it with CAS (5), timing (5-5-5-12) and voltage (1.8V) or it won't work? I've always wondered...

What I see is that on Newegg they have Crucial Ballistix sport 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory Model BL2KIT25664AA80E for $49.99 and I wonder if it will work with my Crucial Ballistix 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model BL2KIT6464AA804, or maybe you guys have some better find (more RAM, less price)?

you never want to mix your ram. best case scenario, it works-but you are only given access to 4x512MB. But more than likely it won't even load up. You always want to get ram with the same capacity and the same timing, etc. Easiest just to go with a 4 pack. But most importantly, are you using a 64 bit or 32 bit OS? Cause if it's 32 bit, you can't utilize more than 3.8 GB of ram anyways. Also make sure your mobo takes DDR2 and not DDR3, that'd suck to find out the hard way :P

So I saw the specs...
Is an Intel Pentium 4 Processor good enough?
If all fails, I'll have to play on my dad's computer, but I really want to use my on PC.

Since we are currently on "Seventh generation of gaming" you guys should not worry too much about specs. Since Skyrim will be on Consoles it will not push PC to the limits. My guesses are that if oblivion runs fine on your PC you should be fine.

System Requirements are always so wrong aswell. I remember when i had my old PC some games were way off the scale of what my PC could do but they all ran fine.

I'm a bit surprised at the recommended specs. In a way I thought they'd he higher, though I'm glad they are not. I meet and beat the CPU/Ram/OS req....It shows my cards (Duo Radeon 5770's) will have to be switched out sooner then I'd like though.

I'll likely play this on Ultra, then tweak it so my game runs a smooth 60(If needed)...I see high as my lowest.

Edit.

@Qwackie: Is your I4 at least 2.0 GHz? And is it duo core or quad core?

I'm worried mostly about the graphics card. I know I'll be able to run Skyrim, but at what quality? I'll be a little sad if I have to run it on low.

Intel Pentium D CPU 2.80 GHz (2CPUs)
2.5 Gb RAM
GeForce 9500 GT
Could I at least run it on minimum? :(

Yeah I know, Vista and W7 read only max up to 4 GB, it's a rip off that many ppl don't even realize :D, that's why I have x64. And unfortunately my mobo takes DDR2, old grandpa .

Agreed, same here. I was afraid that they gonna set the bar really high for this one but it seems like Bethesda still remembers that not everybody can afford intel's newest Xeons or AMD's Opteron Magny-Cours :Twisted Evil:

Roftl, I'll try to run it on Radeon X1950XTX so u don't have to worry about Nvidia GeForce GT 520 M xD

Yes, but that doesn't answer my question. Like I said, I know that I can play Skyrim. I need an estimation of the quality I could run at. Low, Medium, High? Definitely not Ultra; It's a nice laptop, but it's not THAT great.

Right, right. My mistake. It won't be low for sure, I would say medium-high / high-low, so it's not bad, at least for me...

Sorry, but I have another question...

The gameplay demo (the one split into 3 parts) was done on the 360, and I was wondering, would those graphics be the equivalent to medium settings on the pc?

I don't know if I should be asking this here...

You are not going to get a sane answer to that. Especially because individual tweaks like Render Distance and Texture Detail put strain on your hardware in different ways.

I have a question, as I am not as literate with computer graphics and gaming. I'm jumping ship from the 360 to the PC, so I need some guidance here :(

Okay, so my computer (desktop) looks like this:

HPE-270f
Windows 7 (64-bit)
i7-930 Processor (1st Generation)
8GB RAM (DDR3)
1TB HD
ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card (1GB DDR5 dedicated graphics memory)

Now according to the Skyrim specs released, I should meet the "Recommended" specs to run Skyrim with my computer. According to the hierarchy chart at Tom's Hardware, my HD 5770 is the basic equivalent to the recommended ATI Radeon 4890.

Question #1: I have planned (or hoped to) play Skyrim from my PC and hook it up to a 40" LCD 1080p TV. With my current graphic card listed above, can it do this on the recommended settings? Or is the output on a 40" HD 1080p TV going to be too much for my graphics card on the recommended settings? (Since it is bigger, higher resolution?, etc. I heard this makes a difference TV vs monitor).

Question #2: We obviously don't know the specs for "Ultra" yet (or do we?), but I'm probably comfortable assuming my processor and Ram will be sufficient for "Ultra", correct? But my graphic card, on the other hand, will be severely lacking (specially on a 40" 1080p TV). What should I upgrade to that will allow my computer to play Skyrim in "Ultra" setting using a 40" LCD 1080p TV?

Thank you to anyone who can help, and please be detailed with an answer as I am new to all this. :)
