Sure feels like winter in Denmark.

BTW, it would be totally epic if snow started falling this friday, it wouldn't be the first time since something like that happened.

Google translate tells me "stamfar" means ancestor in Norwegian. Can I get a verification? An alternative? I'm thinking I'm going to make my Nord an extension of my Oblivion char, who's slept (or something) for the past 200 years so as to fulfill his destiny in Skyrim(he didn't become the Champion). Sooo... ancestor, because he's old.

I think Magnus Stamfar sounds pretty good, but help would be appreciated.

Well, it does mean ancestor in danish, specificly an ancestor who is a male.

I'm trying to find a name for my Nord warrior, something related to the norse mythology.
I liked something related to Niflheim, wich is the lower of the nine worlds in said mythology, the icy-coldy one.

So I thought of something like "Niflhur", "Niflhem" but they don't convince me.

Any suggestions?

How about a name that could be similar to Matthew or Wayne?

Not very Nordic, or even Elder-scrollsey, but I'm probably going to go with Robb Stark.

You could pick a name from the lists given, but I always choose names from books I like to read. Mostly from fantasy books like Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings. It's just my of doing things.

I usually use this website http://www.behindthename.com/random/ for its random generator and it has a Norse option which could be helpful.

Ive got several characters on Oblivion who are Norse, and Ive called them;

Fenrir
Odiin
Hrothgard
Loki
Freyjord

These seem quite Nord-Like...in my opinion anyway.

Odin, Loke, Tor, Harald, Olav, Håkon, Sigurd and Bjørn is a few old Norwegian names on the top on my head. Some of the names are from Norse gods and Kings.

I was trying to figure a Nord name in case I created one, but all I could think of with was Aevar Stone-Singer. Yes I play a lot of Oblivion, but it is a cool name.

Okay I figure I will use,
Matteus Warin.
Its Nordish and close to my real name.

You could try 'Thokk' on its own, or dress it up with something like 'Shardthokk' or something as equally contrived as it is butch.

Who/What is Thokk? The disguise of an old woman which Loki used to keep Baldur stuck in the cold underworld. I'd find it a nifty name for a Nordic character who is committed to fighting the undead, all because of the phrase Thokk used to condemn Baldur to his fate:

"Let Hel keep what she has."

Someone dedicated to keep the dead in their proper place would have those words engraved into their zombie-hacking axe.

Im naming my nord warrior "Dovakhiin", no not to be cheesy but because

Minor or maybe major spoiler, though you most likely know since Todd said it...

Spoiler:
At one point the graybeards yell "DOVAAAKHHHHHIIIIIIIIN" from their mountain, and it may be said other times as well

I do things similar to that. Like in oblivion I named my guy sheogorath and he was pure SI. It added realism when npc were saying your characters name.

And for skyrim, my nord will be named after hero or something
