ES Games: Oblivion GOTY, Skyrim.

1. Better Weather System
It really doesn't cut the cake, it barely snows in Imperial City and be Sunny in Anvil.
2. No seams in bodys
This is what really cheesed me off, they said the faces and bodys were seamless and beautiful, when everyone had a six pack and it looked like my neck had been sewn on...

What I DO want

- Combat combo system. Ability to string hits ect.
- Ability to kick people.
- Horses that actually gallop. In Oblivion the either walked or quickly cantered. Plus the controls were pretty twitchy.
- More types of horse armour. Also, it should be readily available, not DLC.
- Ability to attack on horseback. I hated getting off my horse just to kill a troublesome mountain lion then carry on.
- More fish. Other than the odd slaughterfish, water in Oblivion was mostly empty.
- More friendly/neutral wildlife. Like birds and stuff, but make them do stuff, like sit on tree trunks and stuff.
- More opportunity for role playing. Make it so the player doesn't have to be an adventurer.
- More atmospher and "hustle and bustle" in towns and cities, and taverns especially.
- Improve graphics but don't clutter textures.
- Ability to join "bad" factions like bandits, or at least become neutral to them, so they don't always attack you on sight.
- Houses to buy in the Wilderness.
- Ability to get drunk :D
- Ability to become a skooma dealer.
- Ability to make your own armour and weapons.
- Dual wielding weapons.
- Better house customisation.
- Unique named weapons like the ones in FO3.
- More varied dungeons.
- More varied weapons. Like spears, halberds, flails ect.
- Stat spacific achievements/trophies. Like the ones in Fallout for certain number of kills, places discovered ect.
- Extensive pre-release QA testing. FO:NV was completely broken, don't make the same mistakes as with NV.

What I DONT want

- Guards from different cities shouldn't magically known if you're a criminal.
- Skill and levelling system shouldn't change. It makes sence that you get better at something the more you do it, not like in Fallout where you apply points.
- All NPCs shouldn't just be different heads attached to generic bodies for each race.
- No generic named NPCs in cities, like the "Megaton Settlers" in FO3. Every character should be named and have some sort of personality.

I don't know how tricky this would be, but I'd like to see weather have an impact on npc behavior. For example, if it's raining outside, there should be less activity on the streets of towns -- program NPC's to seek shelter in adverse weather, or at least certain NPCs. Nords should probably still be wandering around outside in a blizzard.

Like other people have said here and in other threads, I'd like to see more towns, and more diverse towns. The official map has 8 major cities marked in Skyrim. That's a pretty good number, but there should definitely be more smaller and medium sized towns. Seeing little fishing villages along the coasts would be cool, as would trading outposts along major roads, larger farms, things like that. Also, I'd like to see more variety in the major towns themselves. The big cities should have more defined districts -- upper class neighborhoods, slums, markets. I'd really like to see more visible commerce. I think having a major outdoor marketplace in the big cities would be a neat touch, with vendors in stalls selling clothes, food, and other goods. The more 'elite' stores, like high end weapon and armor smiths, exotic and expensive clothing -- these should still have indoor stores.

In general, I'd like to see more little details that make the world seem that much more lived in, more alive. Frankly, I'm not really worried about it. The visual aspect of this game is unquestionably going to be better; things have come a long way graphically in the last 4 years, and I feel like these sorts of details are going to be part of the package. I'm really excited. :)

1. More customizeable menu Sort of like what morrowind is like. I can edit it more to my liking

2. Less errands in the main quest It is a mid-evil fantacy game... not a shopping mall

3. Better voice actors for human races They are kind of cheesey imo

4. The adoring fan seriousley, who doesnt love him?

4. Better face designs for all races except for khajiit and argonian Because its a bit weird when you find the ugliest face in cyrodiil (orc in two sisters inn @ skingrad)

5. New game engine pretty self explanitory

6. Stage-by-stage boss fights and mechanics I want it to be impossible to defeat a boss the first time. I want it so you have to remember what to do and when to do it.

7. Quests that give you a headache I like quests with extremely hard puzzles in them! thats why i prefer runescape over WoW, because runescape has many more logical quests.

8. Crossbows Self explanitory

9. Polearms I LOVE polearms, they are my favorite kind out of all the weapons, but oblivion doesnt have these (not that I know of) and with mods, they act more like claymores rather than actual polearms.

10. Easier to use construction set. I see alot of points in the current one that can be imporved on to make modding way easier.

11. NEW LEVELING SYSTEM The main reason why I use a lot of console codes rather than working for them is the leveling system! I hate the leveling system!

12. Dual wield Sorry UV, but you + obse make my game crash A LOT.

13. More.. Live? cities A couple people here and there does not count as a city.

14. Birthsigns that have reason I want your birthsign to effect your character in the future, I think there should be more to it than just an ability.

15. Better magic animations Because tossing some fireballs and lightningbolts gets a bit borring.... Well, I gues if they dont do this, we can count on xilver to!

16. I should be able to kill this bear in one hit! I dont want all the creatures in the game leveling with me, its completely unrealistic

17. Better speechcraft I'd like to have to choose comments and hear replys from the npc

18. M'Aiq

19. Better mounted controlls It is a bit annoying when I try to move a horse arround. When I started oblivion and got on the monk's horse, I was like "wtf, how do I do this?!?

20. SKOOMA

I want more ways to enter houses than just picking the locks and using keys.
Like if the lock is weak enough, and you have enough strength, you could kick it down.
Or if the door is week (like the one's in the waterfront district) you could use a blunt weapon to smash it in. But doors like the reinforced one's in Skingrad can't be smashed.
Though both of those ways arn't as sneaky, so you would be likly to be caught.

After just being given Chillrend at level 3 by Vallus Odiil and finding out that there are much better versions at higher levels, I would like to add that I want to see levelled lists removed. This is a great looking weapon and probably quite effective at higher levels, but because I chose to do the quest early on, I'm never going to get to use it properly. I think that all levelled creatures and items should be removed from Skyrim.

Perhaps the new engine will change that! I'd like to see less magically fading through doors and slightly more actually having to open them. It might work - I have seen dynamic antiportals that stop engines (specifically UE2) rendering things behind doors until they're opened. That would be incredible - a fully continuous world.

I'd love a cameo from him.
Or at least a mention.
A news story of how he was found at the base of a mountain, near Dive Rock, might work..

But yeah, I totally agree with all the wishes of removal of anything levelled.

Or something along the lines of asking the player if they want to play a levelled or un-levelled game à la New Vegas with its hardcore mode. If that's not possible, just ditch the damn levelling.

I think for TES 5 they have to include da followin:
1) Werewolves. you must be able to transform into a werewolf at will. Maybe bein stonger while its a full moon and only being killed by a silver blade. And since its Skyrim you're wolf transformation should be a white wolf like thing.
2) None of this bull with enemies levelling up as you do.
3) Even when you're not a werewolf you should be able to transform into a animal.
4)Guards shouldn't know that you done something shifty even if they haven't seen you do it. Its really annoying when a guard in Bruma knows what you've done in Leyawin.
5) Being a vampire should actually count for something. I hate it when i go into a cave/fort whatever with vampires and all they do is try to kill you perhaps being a vampire meant that you were part of a faction with them.
6) It would be awesome if you could have a pet and a companion that you could pick up in inns, guild halls ect.
7)Make it so that food, drink and sleep are a must

I'll keep on thinkin

I'll try and think of more ideas

Pirate Faction - I mentioned this time to time on the original discussion thread, but I want a pirate faction where you start off doing work on a boat (Simple tasks) then you arrive at islands or are attacked by soldiers/other pirates.

Vampires/Werewolves - I would like to see the return of both WITH a faction for vampires, maybe even let us have a better use for biting other peoples necks (Such as turning some people into vampires)

Bigger Battles - Battles in Oblivion were cool from time to time, but not cool enough. I would like to see some larger battles happen, maybe even small wars between factions as a random occurance.

Random events - Like in Red Dead Redemption where you occasionally came across a random event of someone being murdered, someone being attacked by Animals etc. I would like to see this appear in Skyrim.

Dangerous Weathers - When I think of Skyrim, I think of harsh snow and blizzards, why not add something like snow storms and Blizzards which make it impossible to see, lowers fatigue and lowers other skills, making you have no choice but to camp out for the night.

Hardcore Mode - Like in Fallout: New Vegas where you had hardcore mode and had to eat, drink and sleep to survive, it would be fun to see this in Skyrim. But also adding 'Warmth' to the game. To prevent freezing, you can wear warm clothing, warm up at fires, cast spells etc.

Portable Camp - If there was to be a hardcore mode, a portable camp would help ALOT, in Fallout new vegas, once I had started travelling further through the wasteland and did larger quests, finding beds became hard at some moments. A camp would help with this alot and add to roleplay.

Companions - I would like some good, worthwhile companions, but better then Fallout 3 and New vegas, I want companions I can get to know and I can talk to, maybe make them feel more important. Perhaps make them Dragon Age style, where they can play roles in the story and you can become friends with them.

Romance - I have wanted this since Oblivion, but romance and perhaps even marriage and children. You can buy your girlfriend/boyfriend gifts and take them on dates, even have them sleep in the same bed as you

Weight - I'm not talking about items, but i'm talking about PEOPLE. I want to not see everyone with six packs, I want to see people who are fat, small, skinny, tall or big and strong.

New Monsters - I want to see quite a few monsters, perhaps even yeti's or some sort of snow monsters.

Better Prisons - When I went to jail in oblivion and found myself in an actual cell, I thought it was pretty cool... but all you do is just sleep in a bed roll and end up right outside of the prison (Perhaps a month or two have passed) In major city's, I want a big prison with cell-mates, and instead of sleeping until it's over, you can go do small prison quests for guards or prisoners, talk with prisoners or even go through a whole process of prison drills. maybe even escape. (but you can still sleep for the full sentence if you don't want to do that stuff.)

Each Race Matters - Being a race only affected your attributes and how your character looked, but why not have 'racism' race factions/clans, towns for your race, tribes and other things, I want for example, being an Orc to matter. Maybe even as an orc, if you kill people, others will start to think of all orcs being brutes and savages.

Jobs - They should add a small way to make money in the game, having jobs would be fun and add to roleplaying. Become a a shopkeeper, store assistant, bodyguard, blacksmith, innkeeper. All sorts of jobs!

Roleplaying - Bethesda should add new and fun ways for roleplayers to roleplay, roleplaying is the only thing that keeps me playing Oblivion. Maybe even allow you to add your own back story (E.g your past, how you grew up, who your are etc.)

Note to all

I'm going to use my post I made at the beginning of the thread, something me and the original poster discussed

Dean wrote:

So no one liners, detailed posts only.

I bring your attention to this because only some people are listening to it. The other threads are there to discuss what you want, this is to write a 'list' of things. Not just one or a reply to someone.

This may get long (and a bit technical):

Particle simulation for weather effects: Such simulations would work with rain, snow and dirt based on wind physics. Such effects would get rain to be able to run of building, snow to build up on surfaces and dirt to billow about gleefully in the wind. It also could tangent off onto mist and clouds, having them part and swirl around objects and people.

Stronger Normal maps and Parallaxing: These give some mean bump-maps and can really save on the poly count. I've seen them used in previews of Two Worlds 2 and they're sweet!

Latest Version of SpeedTree and Havok: For those that don't know, SpeedTree is the system used to draw Oblivion beautiful trees. Though it is an older version. Look at what the newest version can do! This could tie in with weather effects such as wind and snow; having trees bend and sway, branches flying off and maybe fall down in extreme blizzards. This would go best with the latest Havok Physics engine.

Realistic Water: Simply said, have different water styles for different depths and also be affected by weather. Perhaps even have it freeze and thaw in different temperatures. What about falling through on thin ice?

Dynamic Combat: Oblivion's combat is dynamic in it's own right, but only on the sword fighting part. Having better specialisation in movements for magic and stealth players would augment the dimensions of combat. Instead of flinging a spell with the same boring animation, how about different animation for different spell types. Charge up times for the more heavy spell, AoE spells, chain spells, spell being affected by the environment (eg: frost being amplified by cold weather but negated in warm/hot weather), spells affecting the environment: Fire leaving embers of grassy areas, frost leaving slippery surfaces, shock spells conducting through metal surfaces. For stealth: a cover system for better hiding, acrobatics for more vertical navigation (and allow alternate routes), causing distraction and real time pickpocketing (not really combat but still dynamic), animated take-downs. Fighters can aim their blows for specific spots, weapons and armour can bend, snap and buckle, your helmet may obscure your vision, parries, disarms, kicks and shield bashing (headbutt maybe?) and even bring balance on uneven surfaces into the equation.

This would work for a dynamic system by allowing alternate fighting styles present on a battle field. And different functions for each style. Giving more apparent advantages and weaknesses to each style to be exploited by either side.

Dynamic Skills: Instead of your skills increasing via numbers and values, they improve depending on your usage of them. The more you swing a blade, the better you get; a progressive and gradual increase in skill. Magic users would see more effective ways to cast spells and brew potions. Stealth users might see better poisons, more instinctive lock picking and marksmanship, or more superfluous acrobatical maneuvers.

Also training would coincide with this well. Instead of a simple increase in skill, they teach specifics of their own knowledge. That special place to wack a warrior or that intricate chant to cast that special enhanced spell, or that lethal spot to jab someone. Different teachers would know that something special for you and allow you to increase your own skill-bank.

Optimised Meshes: A small personal one, saving me from going through with PyFFi and optimising them myself.

Intricate Trap Systems: The simple system in Oblivion had a lot of potential for making trap systems. The Ayleid Ruin traps where good but only got you once or twice. More hefty and unique traps could've been made with the already existing system. Traps that make you jump or really keep you on your toes.

Travel System: Instead of the immersion breaking fast travel, bring back travel systems. Horse Carts, boats and (my favourite) Mine-cart rides! (Maybe not) Maybe do what RDR did and allow you to view the whole ride, even have the random bandit attack.

Snowy Immersion: Things that make snow snow. Glare from the sun, inhibited movement, avalanches, icicles. Golden Snow? Stuff that makes you feel like you're in the frozen province of Skyrim.

Most of these are really just gameplay mechanics, dynamics or technical aspects. But I feel they would really suit the Elder Scrolls immersion motive.

Well i might as well show what i wanted earlier with a bit extra

There are a few things that i think that they should put into SKYRIM from previous games and also general things from the back of my mind:

1. Being able to join more factions such as the Imperial cult, Imperial Legion and Morag Tong
2. The inclusion of transport services e.g. boats, and equivalent creatures to Morrowinds silt striders
3. The reintroduction of claymores, wakizashi, throwing knives/darts, spears/halberds, and crossbows
4. Mark/recall spell, and possibly levitation
5. Larger world to explore to suck more hours of my social life away
6. A different beginning besides waking up in a jail/dungeon type scenario
7. Don,t have creatures that level up with you, but have a variety of tougher and smarter creatures as you progress in level
8. They should definitely include the ICE BLADE OF THE MONARCH in it, it would go extremely well with all that chilly weather we're gonna encounter
9. Better NPC creation. I'm sick of seeing people whose heads look like they've been hit with a shovel or had a sour bomb
10. More people in wilderness and in the cities. I get a bit lonely out there
12. Aedra missions as well as daedra missions
13.More than just one type of fish living on the planet. UGH slaughterfish
14. Heaps more quests

I could keep going so im gonna stop here

not wishing to get into the whole lycan/vampire twilight thing, but i think werewolves could have the clans and generally more power, and maybe vampires could be the hunted down minority group in Skyrim. It would be a different slant which might work best in this part of the world where the bloodmoon type culture exists.

or perhaps werewolves and vampires could have a relationship, maybe divide the land into territories where you don't cross over on to the other's patch without permission. Would make those secret missions quite challenging, having to hide from the quest enemies, perhaps the law of the land and the vampire/werewolf enforcers

of course the number one vampire/werewolf wishlist item for me is to have a character who is a werewolf and vampire at the same time 8)

Better water - in Oblivion you couldn't see aaaanything below surface, and it sucked.
Beards - Beards are awesome. And an entire freezing cold nation can't be all clean-shaven. That's illogical!
Capes - I love capes!
Hats - You can't walk around in a steel helmet in a snowstorm! And we need something to match regular clothes.
Spears - The game needs a little less swing and a little more THRUST!
Halberds - Yes! Hack your enemy into manageable pieces!
Overlapping clothing and armor - Mix and match!
The cold-factor - cold damage and cold resistant armor?
Moar monsters! - Many monsters, and unexpected ones!

Guild Control: I want more control over a guild if I'm the leader. It really felt like just beating the last quest in the quest line just gave you a reward and small bonus, and that's it. Also, more guilds.

More In-depth Character Creation: We haven't gotten the chance yet to change the bodies of our characters. I want the ability to change my height and weight, maybe even fitness.

Improved Lockpicking: In Oblivion, I would never choose Security as a major skill, because I knew even at level 5, I would still be able to open a very hard lock. After awhile, you get used to the game, and it becomes insanely easy. But I did enjoy it more than Morrowind, which is basically just clicking away until the locks opened. But in Morrowind, lock could be too complex. So maybe they could have some sort of combination, or maybe adapt an idea from a mod where the tumblers are covered, and then you can reveal more tumblers as a bonus for each 25 levels.

Alchemy: I actually really enjoyed Alchemy. I read someone's post on these forums and they suggested having certain ingredients for certain potions being better for certain effects. Like making a Restore Fatigue potion should have different magnitudes in power depending on whether you used bread or whatever.

Assassinations: I found it weird how you could attack someone while they were asleep, and they would live. I mean, if you were going to kill someone, and they were asleep and unarmored, and you were right on top of them, don't you think you could probably kill them easily right there no matter how weak or inefficient you were with using a dagger in battle?

More Self-Sufficiency: I want certain skills to allow me to be self-sufficient for certain things. Like if I'm a skilled armorer, don't you think I should be able to make my own weapons and armor? A theif is only as good as the amount of picks he bought. That sounds cool.

Exotic Landscape: I just started playing Morrowind, and I love how everywhere feels like a whole new world. Oblivion did look beautiful, but there was nothing making it unique, really.

One Game Mode: I've seen talks about having a hardcore mode. To me it feels like if you don't play hardcore mode, you're not playing the game properly. Obviously that's not how it's intended, but that's what it feels like to me.

No Scaling Enemies and items: No Scaling Enemies and items.

More stuff to spend my money on
You are short on cash the first few levels in Oblivion, but after you have played a while, there's just nothing to spend your money one. Houses are the only expensive thing, and even they are affordable. I think that Skyrim should contain lots and lots of really expensive stuff, so that you always have something to save up money for. This would also make the mercantile skill more usefull.

* Passive weapon enchantments. Screw soul gems!
* Farms. Let's face it, all this food has to come from *somewhere*, and the amount of food supply in Oblivion was lacking.
* Level scaling...make it not be a detriment. Parts of the world can level with you somewhat, but it shouldn't be a 1:1 deal.
* Better store-bought equipment, or perhaps even items crafted on commission.
* A way to navigate steep slopes. I'm in favor of a climb skill for stealth, complete with grappling hook and such.
* Required sleeping. It would prevent level avoidance.
* Better haircuts. I was never particularly impressed with the choices in Oblivion.
* A toggle to be able to do things that would "break" the scripts like enter doors reserved for later content, or pick locks that you should have to get the key for.
* No obnoxious mini-games. The lock pick and speechcraft stuff was ok when you first figured it out, but got old REAL quick.
* A better detection system. Enemies often know of my existence when they shouldn't, and vice versa, and then they never ever forget where I am until I leave the cell, even if there's no way they could know.
* More intelligent enemies. Ones that go and run for help. Ones that don't just stand toe to toe. Ones that won't stand at the base of a cliff and let you fill them with arrows.
* Variance in physical character builds, including NPCs. There should be taller and shorter, heavier and slimmer.

Suggestions I agree with, but wouldn't have come up with myself:
* Companions: Bethesda confirmed a new engine therefore the companion system can be redifined and improved. (A-M Matt)
* Incorporate the Speechcraft skill into actual conversations. (Dark Spark)
* Mark/recall (DaKizmasta)
* No leveled items (veck)

I could, of course, make a MUCH longer list...

Cultural continuity: I know that Skyrim is a different time and place than Oblivion and Morrowind, but I would like to see some reference to things from those eras. What are the Knights of the Nine up to, have they faded out or become a political/religious force to be reckoned with? Wouldn't it be neat to bump into someone with the last name of Dren or Cosades?

Nirnroot: Or the Nord equivalent. I'm probably the only one, but I loved just wandering around looking for Nirnroot. Led to all kinds of interesting things.

Gaining influence with a person should be the result of natural conversation, instead of a forced minigame type function.

More choices in non-armor clothing and headgear. Once my character gets a lot of money she likes to wear expensive clothes that don't look like everyone else's. Mods are not an option since I'm playing on an Xbox.

Spellcasting animations: Wouldn't it be neat if the animations changed as you leveled up and became better at spellcasting? When you first start out, your spellcasting animations are very dramatic and wild and clumsy, but as you get better they become more natural, imagine Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan Kenobi very subtly waving his hand....

All I want them to do is improve on Oblivion technologically, maybe implement more features and indepth items (morrowind style armour and weapons) and atleast 1 new race. There are loads of possible new creatures in Skyrim but please make 1 playable. Something to replace the argonians maybe? (water breathing may be a bit useless when all the water is frozen)

And they all might freeze to death because they're cold blooded.
