Perhaps an expert amourer could modify the size. I just didnt like the fact I could grab any armour I found and wear it. Doesnt make sense.

For me this is one of the bits that where TES needs to be a game and not 100% real! Yes armour would really need to be made for you especially hard metals. But in a game this is just annoying and adds very little.

I have to say I agree. I kind of already assumed that when you bought a chestpiece or something, the blacksmith had one in your size. Anyway, there's not really a varying amount of sizes for most armor I assume. Clothing is different, it's smaller and tighter fitting - with armor the point is to be safe, so if it's bulky or too tight it's not as much of a problem. I assume it's generally a one-size-fits-all type of thing. ;)

Hey everyone,
been reading this forum occasionally for a few years already and now i've decided to login and share some thoughts about the upcoming TES game.
I'm not too familiar to the TES lore and played only Oblivion, so if i get some things wrong, just tell me.

Here's some points for now:

Festivals and special days I don't know for sure, but at least i never seen that any day would be really special in Oblivion. I mean, there could be some religious festivals, astronomical days (the longest night?), commemoration of some historical event, execution day, etc. I imagine it like that closer to some special day You would hear NPCs discussing the upcoming festival and once You'd arrive to some settlement on the Eve of the fest You'd see a huge pile of wood ready for a fire. And on the next night while wandering in the hills You could see fireplaces spread across many villages in the landscape. You could hear distant sounds of music and celebrating people.

Tacking In some occasions You would have to chase some NPC or creature and maybe it would be interesting to track it by footmarks, bloodtrails, etc. Maybe even using smell as a Khajit?

I agree there should have been like a ceremony for joining the Blades and then you are given your own akaviri katana and another for becoming the champion of cyrodiil

I wouldn't be so sure about that - mostly armors were just pieces of metal that formed a torso when put together. I mean, we have a breastplate, a pauldron, a backpiece, gauntlets, armpiece, sidepiece etc, all with adjustable leather straps. So one armor would actually fit most people unless you're a dwarf or something. Except for chainmails and that stuff of course :P Anyway, the realistic way you're talking about would just make it more tedious. Mostly, realistic is good. But sometimes, we have to prioritize gameplay. But I do agree there should be female and male armors, they shouldn't just morph.

As a kid I remember seeing a set of armour being applied once at a museum re-inactment. It was in pieces as SwedishDerzerker said and as they put it on they were using some sort of lacing to pull the pieces into form fitting placement. I don't know if all armour was applied in the same way but it did solve the problem with the general troops getting armour "off the rack" or "off the anvil" I should say. I do know that richer and/or higer ranked personages usually had armour made to their specifications so they could have emblems and things to signify who they were and their station. The only thing I did not like about the armour in the games so far is that the women's armour did not look female enough when on women. But I just waited a while and someone made a mod for that! I LOVE modders!! :P

However, I'm a collector and love to collect specialty items, pretty things, one of a kind items... So I would like ...

1. I would love MORE clothing options. I hated only having a few clothing options. Again I LOVE modders!!! This too they worked on with many wonderful results.

2. I love, love, love Morrowind Narcissism mod by Fliggerty. The mannequines that look like whatever character I am playing. So I can put all the special armour and unsual clothing on display. Pretty gowns, magical robes, lingerie,... ugh, excuse me. Mannequines, I'd like some mannequines.

How about some good looking people. I mean look at Oblivion, if you can ignore how the characters look it's bearable, but it doesn't make them look better. I would like to have a nice looking character, not like actor looking but, good looking enough to not be Frankenstein.

I know that there are modders for this type of thing, but still why can't console players have nice characters. Maybe a program where you can edit your character on the pc and transfer to 360 or ps3. That would make a world of difference.

I would just like to point out that this is Frankenstein, or at least one incarnation. This is his monster. I know off-topic, but I've never liked it when people refer to the monster as "Frankenstein."

Also, have you seen the screenshots from Gameinformer? There's a picture of a woman in a tavern or something and I think she looks really good, especially when compared to previous games. I believe she was the only person clearly shown in the magazine, however.

Having a working calendar with some "festivals and special days" would be awesome. It'd go a long way to making the game world feel more realistic, even if these were mostly aesthetic and didn't impact the gameplay or quests in any way. And i don't think it'd be too hard to do, considering Radiant AI is getting big improvements.

As for tracking, i think it'd be too hard to actually execute in a sandbox open world. I'd love something like this but imagine your prey walking into the woods...there'd be several dozen tracks leading everywhere!

Not really, they can always have a time limit of, say, ten real-time minutes?

Actual seasons would be pretty nice. Just having some months is good but seasons would be better. But taking lore into account I think there actually aren't any seasons present. Because Nirn is not a planet circulating a sun through a universe but a stationary...something. The sun and stars are just either opening into aetherius or fragments of the aedra. So seasons are unlikely no? :/

I think footprints would be cool. Seeing as the snow stacks dynamically on objects, I'm sure it would be possible. Depending on how they implemented it, it could be anything from letting you know that a pack of wolves is nearby to just a nice cosmetic thing which has no effect on gameplay.

Actually, if you look at the months' names in TES's calendar, it's pretty clear there are seasons. "Sun's Height", "Frost Fall", "Rains Hand", "Sun's Dusk", etc...

Yeah you're right. I'm dumb =.= but still in all previous games there were no seasons so it would be nice if they were in Skyrim

Yeah, i agree. It'd add a deeper sense of immersion to have a time of the year when there's lots of rains, or storms, or nicer weather. And NPCs could act accordingly, like going out to the fields in the correct time of the year to seed the soil, etc... and then harvesting the crops and hauling it back to mills and all that
And maybe we'll get rid of those damn bears during their winter hibernation!

I didn't feel like starting a new thread, though perhaps it deserves one. Has anyone posted any questions in the Ask Todd thing over on Gameinformer?

Good point, Bethesda has truly thought it all over to minimize complexity ;)

such as if i have healh potions on my hotkey the vials will be visable.

This triggered a thought... (Congrads Dudeman for helping me initiate a thought! )

I've read there will be specific races we can play. I am assuming that there will be the basic nine races: Nords, Redgards, Orcs, Imperials (Cyrodil), Wood Elves (Bosmer), Dark Elves (Dunmer), High Elves (Altmer), Khajiit, and Argonian. Will there be any others specific to Syrim? I can't find where I read the number of races we can choose from, but I know I have not read what they will be.

Just curious....

Oh, and I love those socially awkward Nords, as well. We are encouraged to follow laws/social norms of anti-sexual harrassment. They have witches... I think the witches work better!
