No problem, no offence taken. It's just an observation, not a judgement, as I was predicting this sort of development. It's very modern and seamless, which is good and bad. Yes the gameplay also feels more action packed in the intro, but the entire game wont be like that, and it's good where appropriate.

When I watched it it reminded me of Fallout 3/NV wit the way of the mission style/objectives and such.

Well, I have played a ton of COD and I didn't get that impression at all. I could see MAYBE an Uncharted comparison, ignoring the third person obviously, but even that would be stretching it. Besides, you act as if those things are bad elements. They are perfectly fine for either genre. It's not like Dovahkiin is going to whip out an AK and start noob tubing his enemies..........

I never said they were bad elements, only that this is something I predicted, and which others didn't quite believe. Sure the seamless popups and sleek black finish are nice, but I do like the more 'fantasy/Medieval feel of the menus and so on of the previous two games. Honestly, I don't think the minimalist approach is necessarily better than the way Oblivion displayed the HUD, butI don't think that the movement/combat similarities are bad things, just similarities.

The HUD and menus have been pretty much universally praised over the mess that was Oblivions. ;)

Again, I'm not criticising them per se (although I haven't seen much of this universal praise), but I still maintain that the light brown of the past (and these forums) belongs more to the fantasy genre than the black of Skyrim (and CoD too in a way). I'm sure the interface is great, functional and what have you, but I am entitled to my own opinion on the feel of them, even if others, or even the majority, do not feel the same way about how they fit into Tamriel. I'm not right, of course, but then, nobody's opinion is right hen it comes to preference.

I agree with you, with a fantasy rpg game I would prefer the interface to be in tune with the game/lore. I loved how it looked in Oblivion and it fitted well within the game. I think with the colour interface and theme with Skyrim is make it feel more modern and will appeal more to the masses. With what I've seen so far, it looks more clean and simple but sometimes that's not a good thing.

Out of curiosity I took a look at the opening on youtube (Search "Skyrim leak" under most recent videos, durr). I didn't actually watch it, I literally just quickly skimmed through it because from what I've heard the graphics look terrible. I didn't see a problem with it, so it reinforced my anticipation for Skyrim.

The graphics aren't so much as bad as this was done on the 360 and the video quality isn't that great. It'll look much better once you have it yourself.

Honestly, even if the graphics are a clone of Dragon Age Origins, it'll still be a massive improvement over Oblivion.

Yes, because there's never room for change. Let's keep everything the same and never try anything different or more functional and intuitive. Your criticisms may be "your opinion" but they come off as rather ludicrous. Certain colours "belong" to certain genres? Nonsensical. To me, at least.

The universal praise I was talking about is all over the previews that have been written over the past several months. It's been one of the main talking points about improvements with the games interface.

Well games AREN'T only tailored to people like you Nocturnal. I don't get it like some fans think a game should be made for them. It's a company with a name and a product so yeah they wanna make money and sell their product to the masses while providing veteran players with a less clunky streamlined menu......oh wait it's not parchment paper...this can't be in this type of game.

Offtopic: I started a thread concerning the "leaked" maual a week or so ago and it got locked even though there was no links. Just a dicussion.
How is this thread any different? Is it because River is an honored veteran and I'm just a newb?
Mars: Maybe you can add some insight? Thanks

Ontopic: I am refusing to look at this with all my available strength. Though the conversation seems quite rousing!

I don't get it, either Spike. It's one thing to host the material, but posting a link or discussing it should be fine.

It's also perfectly legal. Well, at least up here it is... http://www.michaelgeist.ca/content/view/6069/125/

Watched the video and nothing was spoiled. The tutorial is kind of long, and could be a chore when you start your other characters, but for a beginning it is good. I like that it is more like a cinematic, it tells the story better. Also, there has been some negative feedback on the graphics and animations.. but they look good so far. The quality isn't the best, and sure the animations could be better, but the game looked very good. Can't wait for it to be released now after watching this!

Thanks, Argononza for the PM! I'm not authorized to reply yet. I'm glad there's no favoritism here.
I dont want to show links to leaked material nor directions (intentional or not)

I'm to scared to watch the game beginning just incase my whole damn head explodes due to the untamed epicness that would be instantly released into my retinas!

Wait until you have the game and play it on a console, I really hope you don't have a widescreen with a HDMI cable. If so, RIP your entire ZIP code.

I was thinking about this too. It seemed to me like you could run through a lot of that if you knew what to do and didn't care to take the time to poke your nose in a lot of containers.

There was more scripted stuff than Oblivion's, but you had to wait for the guards to mozy on through the catacombs in Oblivion, and it didn't appear that that was the case this time.

Yeah, this is what he said:
Quote:
FangMaGuoLai Li Song @DCDeacon Will you be able to tweak your race/name/appearance at the end of the intro to Skyrim like in Oblivion and FO:3? Please respond.

@DCDeacon Pete Hines @FangMaGuoLai No. Make sure you do it right the first time.

It looks like we already know what the most annoying part of the game is. Starting it.
