Was that Falmer in the beginning?
Tue Nov 01, 2011 3:58 pm
It looked more like a draugr.
Actually, it's just a skeleton really.
Tue Nov 01, 2011 3:59 pm
I don't think so. It's possible but man those things look like ghouls to be honest plus I didn't see the "spider face" that the Falmer are suppose to have.
Tue Nov 01, 2011 4:00 pm
Not all of them have spider faces. Tom saw a screen on one when he got to play it and it was spider faceless.

I usually get collectors editions for all games...but come on...150$? Thats the normal price for three games, or even two collectors editions of games. Def not going to buy it in collectors edition

At what time did you see it? Besides scenery, a dragon, and a skeleton, I can't imagine what you're referring to.
Tue Nov 01, 2011 4:04 pm
Right after the skeleton. The creepy thing attacking the player.
Tue Nov 01, 2011 4:06 pm
AKB right after the skeleton a creature shoots a fireball at the player and some sort of ghoul looking thing next to it slashes at the player.

How did I miss that... Yeah, either a goblin or a Falmer I would guess.

It's worth it based on the contents. Game alone is $60. Along with that you're getting the making of DVD, a hardcover artbook (stuff like that usually retails for $50) and the dragon statue (which is easily another $50 - seriously, go to any comic shop and check out the prices of oversized figures.. they ain't cheap).

Thief's bow and armor at 1:24 looks wicked ... looks like another cloak armor to

Well, this was an exciting video! Much like the concept art video it sheds some light on the development process, which is good to do in my opinion. About the video: did you see the magic effect when Todd says "the ultimate mage game"? That was big, I wonder if it was a really powerful spell by the player, an NPC or perhaps a creature. Or something else?

Damn, nice lunchroom Bethesda! Now I want a corned beef sandwich with fries!

I am glad that I'm not the only one who thought this. Seriously, it's like a restaurant's kitchen they have in there office. Do all Bethesda employees eat at work?

Yeah I know me too haha

The fact that this isn't addressed worries me. At least we now know that Bethesda doesn't keep a psychiatrist on staff.

That's either a vampire or a witch. Falmer look more animal-like. They have skin over their eyes, long angular heads with pointed ears and are sort of crouched in a hunchback position. That's too human looking. For Falmer, think 'pink humanoid bat'.

they mentioned its the largest game they've ever made pretty much in the video... my question for anyone who knows about the size of the modified xbox 360 disc size and how this stuff works... with all the hi-res textures, how do you think that they fit everything onto one disc?

I'm not sure what the situation is right now, but this effect was quite noticeable on the first generation of the mobile phone network;
When someone was talking on the other side you could hear them just fine. Any music that was playing in the background got horribly distorted however.
This is because a compression method was used that works really well on one particular type of sound (human voice).
I believe it was mentioned that in Oblivion it were the voices that took up most disc space. I guess in Skyrim they are using specific compression for voices (that evolved form the mobile network) and not a general one (like mp3).
Also there are many things that can be packed WAY tighter then is common now. The problem is that it would take your console also WAY more time to decompress it and you don't want that. Waiting half an hour for a level to load unacceptable.
However, as computers get faster and people think of better compression tricks you can cram more stuff in less space.
