That in the Lore (and subsequently the TES Online), that the High King of Skyrim for that period is named Jorunn? I mostly ask that because it is a feminine Norwegian and comes from the elements jór "stallion" and unna "to love". For the most part I've seen the names stick pretty well with names, as far as if it is a real name based on the culture its from, and I just thought this was weird because I've never seen Jorunn being used as unisex in real life. I'm sure there is other examples too, but has anyone else noticed it? xD

I'm moving this to the Lore section where it is more appropriate. ;)

Ok. :) I wasn't too sure if this would fit better there, since I'm sure people could come up with other examples in the game... Jorunn was the only one I could think of right away, but I'm sure there are others too. XD

As the old saying goes, name wild, captain mild. I doubt he's any less capable with a greatsword, or in a drinking contest, or shouting match, than any other Nord.

Jor also = Wild Boar and Chief/King and Unn also = Wave, in older norse tongues.

Well, the character's masculinity wasn't in question. :P It was just something I just thought it was unusual. XD People use masculine names for feminine names, and I've heard of the reverse, though it seems to be considerably less common. (Ailbhe, pronounced like Alva, is an Irish unisex name - though Irish legend this was the name of a female warrior of the Fianna... There is also an Irish monk named Ailbhe, though I don't know if the monk predates her or not, just that he was apparently from the 6th century).

Oh, I didn't know that! That's really cool.

I didn't either until you inspired me to look up the name. I had found that it is definately most common, and seemingly always feminine in Norway, but it also looks like it could be unisex in Finland.

Still, I have noticed other names in TES that are off like that before, or at least seem to be upon first examination.
