I actually fell in love with the Lore section when I arrived at the Wiki. If ever anyone wonders why I am still here, just click on the link. |

Was reading the Lore section before I even joined the forums. I would recommend learning stuff from there if you have ever had the thought of posting in the Lore forum but decided not to. You can find some interesting stuff in there, and it isn't like learning history books either because most of it is about gods, thieves, magic and epic battles. The more Lore buffs the merrier. |

The Imperial Library is also packed with Lore, some of it not available on this site. |

I find the lore of TES very interesting. My favorite thing is the Daedric Princes. My only problem though is that whenever you go into a plain of oblivion (execpt for The Realm of Madness), they all look like Dagons. |

No, only played Oblivion Well, the plot in Battlespire revolves around Jagar Tharn (the bad guy from Arena) getting Dagon to attack an Imperial-owned plane which houses a mage training facility called the Battlespire. Your character is sent in as a scout, but ends up being trapped when the teleporter gets blocked. And you have to journey through quite a few Daedric realms to save your companion from Dagon's clutches. I've never actually played the game myself, but I understand that you visit many lesser Daedric Realms, the Deadlands and some part of Nocturnal's Realm. ... Point being, not all of them are lava seas and molten islands. |

I never really played oblivion much (morrowind fanboy here) but when you entered the oblivion gates were they supposed to represent different spheres of oblivion or just different areas of mehrunes dagon's sphere. If it's the latter that, at least to me, would explain why they all looked the same. |

Different areas of Mehrunes Dagon's realm, but only when entering the gates, When doing a couple of other quests you enter into other Daedric Prince's realms (namely Peryite and Boethia), these realms are basically Dagon's realm in a different map layout, Perhaps Bethesda couldn't justify creating 2 new realms for 2 standalone quests? Considering they already had the textures etc. for Dagon's realm... Or are Boethia and Peryite's realm's described in the lore as being like Dagon's and therefore it was justified? |

Boethia is the prince ruling over deceit, Conspiracy, assination, treason, etc. so, to me, it would stand to reason his sphere would be similar to dagons (if not the same it would probably be pretty dreary none the less) Peryite is called the taskmaster. I think he controls the lowest order of oblivion (almost like a slave driver to me) some people say that his sphere is that of pestilence which also would probably be pretty hellish. I doubt any two spheres of the deadric princes would be the same, but maybe similar? One things for sure azuras sphere would be absolutely amazing Edit: and also, welcome to the forums, grasshopper Edit |

I hope but I doubt it. I personally don't think the deadra princes will play as big a part in skyrim. Of course they'll be there, but I think it willprobably just be a few quests |

I want a dragon as a mount. And I want the ability to name dragons. I'll name one Falcor the luck dragon |

I'd think it'd be kind of neat that you needed the help of the Daedric Princes to take on the dragons. Turn things around from the last game and spend a little bit of the story gaining an alliance with Daedra for the big battle with Grumpy #1. |

I mean of course there will be deadric shrine quests but I'm just saying I don't know how personal they will feel of how big a part the deadra will play in day to day life. I'm not as well versed in skyrim lore as I am on some of the other countries (morrowind, elswyr, black marsh, and high rock) but I would assume since it's mostly birds deadra worship wouldn't be as common as, say, morrowind. |

I always have to laugh, yet it makes perfect sense, when I see that the Cliff Racers drove the Dragons from Vvardenfell. Those things are annoying. I wonder though, since the cliff racers drove the dragons from Vvardenfell, and Jiub drove the Cliff Racers from Vvardenfell, could Jiub have been able to drive the the dragons from Vvardenfell. Jiub, the Dragonborn! |

My understanding is that the link was sealed when you beat the 4th game so I image they will have sufficiently less power, (kind of like in morrwind ) |

Jiub, the Dragonborn! I wouldn't mind finding out. Jiub was a nice character for the minute we knew him in Morrowind. I liked how Bethesda added him into the lore for the fans. |

Post subject: | Re: Want to know what everybody's talking about? |
This is the first Lore forum I have read there people are not fighting over their version of the lore. Impressive..... Got a story here for would be lore fans to learn from. I once made a mod called Kvatch Aftermath that did not have an area because I knew no city is ever rebuilt the same way again after its been destroyed. I live in a city that was 80% destroyed by german bombs during WW2 and the city that they rebuilt still had bomb sites in the 1990s and has only just finished being rebuilt and its nothing like the pre war city. That was my thinking behind the design. But knowing nothing about Elder Scrolls lore at the time, I feel victim to what I often call the "wishful thinking" lore fans these days, the type of users that often edit wiki lore to reflect their own tastes in lore. They said repeatedly that Kvatch has an arena and my kvatch was not lore friendly because it did not have an arena. Now a very wise guy named B over at the Imperial Library explained things to me and said "If you want to learn the game lore, read the books, do your own research and make up your own mind, but know the difference between official sources of lore and players versions". So off I went to research things for my self and I quickly found that those Arena lore fans had ignored the entire Oblivion main plot that basically said Kvatch was a burned out ruin with no working anything inside those walls in order to make that claim. So I decided it was a good idea to learn the lore my self and I tool B's advice to heart and have been using it ever since. I went back to the imperial Library to ask for some advice on a new lore mod I would later call "origin of the mages guild" and once again I hit the same problem of user lore vs real lore so I read the books, made up my own mind and made the mod based on that. I provides a doc to explain the lore sources I used for my mods that lore fans can use to check my findings. Now even ever somebody says "thats not lore", I say show me something official I can work with, and suddenly the "wishful thinking lore" melts away in to nothing, leaving only real lore and real lore fans behind. Once you do that, you can follow Bs advice and make up our own mind and know your just as right about the lore as the next guy who did the same thing and came to a completely different conclusion because nobody is wrong and nobody is right. TES lore always has 2 sides to it and providing you base your opinions of official lore, your never really wrong. |
