Thanks Dean. I think I'll do that. Nice to meetcha! :)

I'd also like to make the statement that too much blinking and flashing is not required. The topics are about replies and comments, not neon lights.

I agree with that. Animated GIF's become annoying after a while. I'm tired of seeing that "Disco Dancing Master Chief" from Halo, for example. It was funny the first couple of times, but now it's just an annoying distraction. It's like watching a fly repeatedly landing on your screen, but you can't swat it for fear of damaging the LCD display!

Edit: 1000th post! YAY! <runs out of house and looks in direction of Canada, where UESP is based> No orbital fireworks? Shame. <slouches back into house, disappointed, with pet lip trailing on ground>

That's redundant.
Basically you're saying "Liquid Crystal Display Display"

(sorry, it's a pet peeve)

"ICU Unit" means "Intensive Care Unit Unit".

And, judging by my avatar, my self-repairing/regenerative abilities means that even an "ICU" is redundant repetitively. (repetitive redundantly? hmmm...)

Staying on-topic, animated GIFs designed to be distracting, the ones intended to pull one's eyes away from the text, can weaken the impact of that text. Remember, people will remember you by how much you creep them out the intellectual impact you bring, not by some flashy avatar that you'll change eventually in a bid to garner more attention (should I go back to my original, the one of Nicole Kidman in the steampunk biker leather?).

*Cough* I can't think of any member who EVER used anything like that for a signature or avatar. *Cough* :P

I am not the biggest fan of GIFs either, but you guys should be consistent.

It's just a Spambot prevention method. I have added you to the confirmed user list so you should be able to add an avatar and post links.

I have asked to be added to a group, but have heard nothing back yet. I have also noticed it's not counting my posts? It still says 0 posts even though I've posted many times.
Any help please?

Posts made in only the actual elder scrolls games are counted. Posts made in the general section are not counted.

Oh... I've been mostly posting in the Skyrim area... So because thats not an actual game yet, they don't count?

That's right. Skyrim and General topics don't count. And lostlast, when you quote another reply, please use the "quote" button in the reply you want to quote, to start with - that way you get the frame you can see on other members' posts. If you only want to quote a part, you can delete text between the starting and ending brackets.

And, if you want to add another quote from another post, you can do it: press enter twice in order to move the cursor down, go to the post you want to quote, click on "quote"... and there you go. Please use the "preview" to check it looks like you want it to look.

Cheers, and welcome to the Forum. :D

Lostlast, I really second what Andere said, yesterday I even accidentally reported you, thinking you were spamming when 90% of your post was copypasta from 2 posts above  so remember, just click QUOTE when you want to reply to a thread and quote that post.

Yes please :D

Before I say it's time to get back on topic, a bit about post count since it seems to concern many: there's a poll at viewtopic.php?f=14&t=20174&start=0&view=viewpoll, and discussion about it at viewtopic.php?f=14&t=19450. Let's take post count there while here...

... we get back on topic: Avatar updates. :D

You need to be a confirmed user. Don't worry, a mod will add you to the list when they see this post.

10 posts and 7 days...

...or, if you introduce yourself, then the moderators know you are new (and not an adbot), and will add you to the confirmed users list. Link to Welcomes topic: http://forums.uesp.net/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=8595&start=4965

Thanks for the info, Jeff!
I've only joined a few days ago and went straight for the Skyrim section. I probably have somewhere near 30 posts there but it seems they don't count

Posts in the Skyrim and General forums, as well as replying to announcements like this, don't increase your post count.

Why not exactly?

Re: Avatar Updates

PerPenger wrote:Why not exactly?

Post count is based on whether a post is deemed helpful. So anything in the Morrowind, Oblivion, Lore, and UESP sections are considered helpful.

The Skyrim section is currently speculation, therefore recognition of speculation posts would be unneccesary and posts in there aren't counted.

Re: Avatar Updates

JJSmart and PerPenger: I added you to the Confirmed Users group.

To everyone: we no longer add new members in Confirmed Users automatically when they announce themselves in Welcomes and Goodbyes. That policy is out.

Finally, anyone here who heard about the word TOPIC? Hip, hip, hooray, back to it. Otherwise I have to get serious?
