As for 150x150 being too big, I'm open to reducing it. I'm running 1920x1200, so 150 pixels doesn't make much of a difference for me. I won't be extending it any further though. I don't want this to be one of those forums where half the screen is avys.

It does make for easier choosing without filtering out all of the too small, less faffy editing and that, but again i dont think any bigger is needed

I'd vouch for 115x115. That way it'd be the same length as the coins.

Well, I must admit it annoys me a bit when people, *cough*Kestral*cough*, uses avatars so wide that it pushes their post a bit to the right.
Nothing I can't live with, though. It's fine either way.

Your screen pains in your petty SubSilver knock-off make me laugh.

I'm worried that if we did that it would detract from the actual writing. I really think we should have a maximum limit of 115x115 so the forum looks more organised and neat.

After all, the profile can't get smaller then it is, but it can get bigger. As others have proven.

What I mean is that massive avatars are distracting, I can't read into the post as much when there is a gigantic picture caught in my peripherals. Plus this will be an nightmare for anyone with even a slight form of OCD, nothing lines up.

Presentation can play a big part in people joining up to a forum, most of us would not join a site where there are massive flashing images and everything is skew-wif/un-organised.

I don't see any flashing pictures and I've seen the pictures on the uesp default style. It doesn't detract from anything and you can just ban .gifs because they're a bother anyway.

Well, actually I believe it does, otherwise I wouldn't of said it. :? and we may not have huge flashing pictures yet, but we have had this new rule like a day or two.

Good idea on maybe getting rid of .gifs though....

That's why I don't know about that rule at all. His isn't actually annoying, I was more talking about the ones with flashing lights and all that. The ones that make you feel like your going to have an epileptic fit are the ones that get on my nerves. :?

Anyway, this whole avatar thing isn't up to me entirely. Just my opinion on it.

Well, it could be a case by case basis sort of thing, just put it in the rules that no excessively flashy .gifs are allowed as avatars, and take action when (I predict rarely) necessary. And I think the avvy size limit should be 138x138, to avoid profile stretching, and perhaps even scale up the coins to match? O.O

I like your thinking of the .gif situation, I'll talk to the others about adding it into the updated rules. Which we shall be releasing any day now I do believe.

I'll have to ask Ratwar if it's possible to scale up the coins or not to that size, it's a good compromise between the two. :P

Due to popular demand (those with the pitchforks ;)) I've downsized it back to 135x135. This doesn't effect existing avatars, so if some of y'all would please downsize your avatars, I'll get you a metaphorical cookie.

Well, it's not really a problem for me if you ban .gifs. I can always change mine. Doesn't really matter to me.

Sweet!

(I was wondering why everyone's icons looked bigger...I mean, honestly, I've only spent a whole day away from the forums. Gracious.)

Guess I had to make a new one AGAIN :3

I agree to banning flashy .gifs, yours if fine Kalle.
Other sites I go to have this rule and I enjoy it. It's pretty much described as "no seizure inducing animations"

I'd like to be able to add my avatar to my profile, yet it states that the avatar functionality has been disabled. Anybody have an idea why?
