wild guess, people are missing and they are missing because they were edited out of the photo after being declared enemies of the state by the USSR.

Hmm, well it's a pic of Lenin, not Stalin, and I don't know of any specific people he particularly disliked (just the nameless thousands his regime murdered).

Edit: I can't find what that particular pic had in it before, but I'm guessing Trotsky got edited out later once Stalin chased him away.

Edit #2: well that was easy, I typed "Lenin trotsky doctored" into GIS and the first result had it

Damn, I'm going to have to start thinking of harder ones. That's a "classic" in the history of photomanips and fairly famous, but still, two guesses is pretty darn good!

Deandra's turn.

Ok, I can't think of any good questions, this one will be a cinch to google but who cares!

Deandra and LunarSweets are playing a game. Doros agrees to flip a quarter until one of them wins. Deandra wins if it's Tails and then immediately Heads, and LunarSweets wins if two Heads come up in a row.

Is this game fair? Who do you think will win and why? (No, answers like, "It's Deandra's game so of course she will win" or "Doros would steal the coin" don't count)

I think it is a fair game, because the outcome of one toss will have no impact on the outcome of the next one. If you did it 100 times you have the same chance of getting 100 heads as you do 100 tails or any other combination.

But then again I haven't done maths since I was 16 and I've forgotten most of what I know.

If we're talking a U.S. quarter here, I remember reading something before that the tail end of the quarter is heavier. So depends on the method in which you land the quarter, such as catching it, in which tails has a more likely chance, or letting it fall to the ground, in which case consecutive heads would be a dang safe bet.

Or something.

No, it's not fair. The initial two-coin toss is "fair", but if you keep playing with the previous coin tosses still counting, Deandra gets the advantage.

The two initial tosses have four outcomes:

TH- D wins
TT- x
HT- x
HH- L wins

If TT is the toss, we throw again, giving us:

TTH- D wins
TTT- x

If HT was the toss, we throw again, giving us:

HTH- D wins
HTT- x

In fact, unless Lunar wins on the very first throw, D will win 100% of the time, since any subsequent H throw will have to come after a T, thus giving D the win and preventing any xHH sequence. This makes the odds 3/4 in Deandra's favor.

HOWEVER, if each two-coin toss is counted separately (I'm not totally clear on the mechanism you're positing here) then the odds are equal. Or rather, the odds WOULD be equal, except as soon as I figured out Deandra's cheeky attempt to stack the game in her favor, I'd use sleight of hand to make LunarSweets win the toss.

Doros got the right answer, I'm 3 times as likely as Lunar to win the game.

I prefer the "Heads I win, tails you lose" trick. Next question?

Good guesses, but no. I'm pretty sure that photo was from when Mr. The Pope was still a cardinal, so technically the dude in the middle is a cardinal dressed as a cardinal.

In all seriousness, it's Pope Benedict...

He always looked quite...diabolical...
Well, compared to John Paul II, at least.

Well, let's see.
If he was still cardinal, it would be...
Cardinal Ratzinger.

The man on top at first looked like Alfred Hitchcock, but it isn't.

Almost a fusion of Alred Hitchcock and Stephen Grover Cleveland...With a little Walt Disney mixed in.
Nothing like Don Imus, as Deandra said...Unless that's the answer.

I'll accept no hints.

Neither Hitchcock, nor Cleveland, nor Disney. Although Don Imus might be a bit closer than you'd expect...
