Okay, then...

Let’s pick the category of history.

The question is: Where was the pope during the “Babylonian Captivity” of the latin church?

Hopefully that isn’t too easy, or even too difficult. Good luck all. :)

Don't screw around with history questions when you've got a history buff in the forum :D . I'll continue with the history. What was the decisive battle for Egyptian dominance under Ramses the second against the assyrians?

Doe you refer to the Battle of Kadesh?

Alright next question:

What King of Naples was born in la Bastide-Fortunière in Gascony? Give the name he ruled under, please.

A history buff, eh?
This won't count as a triva question, merely a little fun to poke at you (I GUARANTEE you won't get it!)

On what day in 1492 did Bobadil, the final Moorish King of Granada, surrender his city to Ferdinand and Isabella's Spanish Army following a three-year siege?

If you look it up, of course you'll get it. Otherwise, ha!

As for your question, was it Jochim Murat? (I may or may not have spelled the name incorrectly).

Arotos, I would be fulfilled in life if I had the ability to remember every date ever. Unfortunately I do not.

You are correct. I specifically wanted Joachim, which is why I asked what name he ruled under. I though some might just answer “Murat”, and forget the king Joachim part. I’m not picky on spelling, especially as people will often spell names of the same monarch differently, depending on their first language.

The Moorish ruler in question was Boabdil, and he surrendered Granada on January 2nd, 1492. As to looking it up, the primary skill of any historian worthy of the name is to be able to do thorough research, not simply pulling random facts of the top of one’s head. One could easily ask questions of a very obscure nature, especially where dates and figures are concerned, and stump the community (killing the thread in the process). I don’t think that is really the point here, is it?

I suppose I will use another Doros-esque question for this.

It is simple, you all know the drill. The first person to name all three people pictured and state what the common-thread running through them wins the next question (In this case, there are three common threads. Two of them obvious, the third quite subtle).

Ah well, I don't want to let this thread die so I'll toss off the question to whoever wants it.
They are...
John Bonham (The drummer for Led Zeppelin)
Keith Moon (The drummer for The Who)
Oliver Reed (British Actor)

They are all British.
They all died because of alcohol (John Bonham drowned in his own vomit after drinking too much, Keith Moon overdosed on pills to help his alcoholism, and Oliver Reed simply died from alcohol poisoning).
They all are connected to The Who (Led Zeppelin got it's name from John Entwistle and Keith Moon of The Who, Keith Moon drummed for The Who, Oliver Reed was a character in Tommy, a movie starring The Who.)

That was the inspiration for the death of the drummer in the movie Spinal Tap. He choked to death on someelse’s vomit. :P
