Wait...The last one is a poet...
Ezar Pond or something of the sort...

Are they all authors?

Ezar Pond?

The Pope isn't an author!

Heh...Sorry.
I goggle Ezar Pond and got Ezra Pound, with the same picture.
The Pope has written numerous books and has even served as a professor at German universites.

Doesn't make him an author; theologians and academics are expected to write books and essays, it's part of the job description. And even if it wasn't, unless writing constitutes a major part of an individuals professional career, you don't count as "an author" just by writing a few books. Madonna and William Shatner wrote a number of books; I'd hardly call them authors. Although professor at German universities might be a good place to start...

P.S. The Force is strongest in our mystery man, and very weak in the Emperor. The Emperor might not have even known the Force were it not for a spot of bad luck!

Ah...Did they all attend the same university?
Or teach at the same university?

Ff...
Well, let's see what you mean by Force.
It isn't a religion of any kind.

Does it have to do with WWII or I?

No, the Force is just the common thread, and a sly allusion to the Pope's movie career. Although I must admit, there WAS a lot of force being used in WWII.

P.S. 03cantosmorelikeCANTohsamiright was a cunning clue for Ezar Pond; he's best known for writing tons and tons and tons of cantos. Only they're more like CAN'Tohs, hahaha.

Mystery Guy is probably best known for boozing, begging, and spending time under the table.

Right, so you've got Immanuel Kant's drinking partner, Pond, Pope Benny, and they're all...

No. Ezar was from America.

Although he didn't stay there, for a few reasons...
