I'm running a prebuild HP with a few updates:
CPU: AMD FX 8150 (Upgrading to Steamroller when it's released)
Motherboard: Gigabyte 2AC8
Memory: 8GB DDR3 (Speccy says the speed is 664mhz but I doubt that)
Storage: Hitachi HDS723020BLA642 (2TB, 7200 RPM)
Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 7950
Case: HP prebuilt case.. I probably should update this
PSU: Seasonic M12II Bronze 620W

BOOT: OCZ Vertex 3 MI
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Dedicated Gaming: Corsair Force GT
GPU Cooling: Accelero Arctic Xtreme (3x 120mm fans)
CPU Cooling: Corsair H100 Closed-Circuit Liquid Cooling

Proof I need to actually get my own rig and not use my family's old computers! My CPU is only 1 core 2.5 ghz. LOL!

Building your own PC is both affordable and relatively easy. I'm sure that many on this forum, myself included, would be willing to help guide you through the process. :)

Might as well post my current dying PC.
It was some prebuilt thing purchased years ago as a gift, so... It's pretty [&@%!].

Motherboard: Asus P5G41T-M
CPU: Intel Pentium E6500 @2.93GHz
RAM: 4GB of whatever came with the PC.
GPU: GTX 580 3GB. Not original, but it works a hell of a lot better than anything else I've had. The original ATI 4300/4500 died after a year, the GT 220 was too weak to run Skyrim, and the GTX 285 was an overheating mess... The 580 has had no issue so far.
HDD: a 465GB thing that came with the PC.
PSU: No idea, honestly. It's not original. It can power everything without an issue, though.

The speakers are some Creative things, the mouse is a Logitech M525, and the keyboard is a Logitech G105. The monitor is an Asus one with multiple patches of dead pixels.

That's really all I can say about it. It has lasted five years, but this will be its last. I'm already eying a nice prebuilt one that's far superior to this. 4.0GHz Intel i7 level of superior... Shame it's out of stock. With the sale, it would cost around $1800.

Have you considered building a computer yourself? It's not the easiest task if you don't know much about the process, but it would shrink the price tag down a good bit.

I built my first gaming computer earlier this year. This is somewhat of an outdated list, since I'm now using a 1080p monitor and a G502 mouse. Everything else is up to date, however.

Yeah... About that... I'm the clumsiest person imaginable. My hands are unsteady and I have a horrible habit of accidentally throwing things. I've snapped a metal mop in half just trying to clean the floors here (it wasn't solid, but... Still. Snapped it clean in half. Ruined the only good mop we had). Me trying to put together a PC would most definitely result in me breaking something. I don't want to take that risk. Especially since I really don't have much money.

Either way, it doesn't really matter at the moment. This one is still going. It hasn't quite given up yet. If it does kick the bucket before I can replace it, I'll probably wind up taking my father's former gaming PC. I doubt its specs are much different, but I don't think it has any major issues (aside from the fact that it's a Vista).

Current setup. 760->970 upgrade done mainly for Witcher3 (otherwise I would wait for nv Pascal with hbm2 ;) ).

i5-4670K (usual 4,2GHz, 4,7 max stable).
Z87X-D3H

GTX970 (Asus Black, goes nicely to 1550/7600MHz @1,2V)
16GB 2133MHz CL11 (Vengeance Pro, would work at ~2400)
Plextor M5P 128GB
HDDs: WD10EZEX, WD10EARS
PSU: OCZ ZT650 (outlived its company  )
Xonar Phoebus Solo
Corsair 500R, white one.

And on the outside
Dell U2414H
Gb M8000X and SS Apex Raw.

I will probably buy Seasonic 650KM3 and Enthoo Evolv ATX next year, but I don't know yet.

The new girl is due to arrive soon. So here is her specs.

Windows 8.1
Intel® Celeron™ N2840 processor
4Gb RAM
500Gb hard drive
15.6 inch HD LED display (1366 x 768)
DVD recordable drive, WIFI
Connectivity: Bluetooth™ 4.0, 802.11 b/g/n
Ports: 1 x USB 3.0, 2 x USB 2.0, HDMI-out
2-in-1 (SD / MMC) card reader
Dimensions: 38.4 x 26.5 x 2.5 cm
Weight: 2.5 kg

Copied and pasted from Very.co.uk because i'm lazy.

I doubt it can play Skyrim without trying to throttle me in my sleep but it should play Fallout 1,2 and Tatics along with mid 00s games. If not, then so long for KOTR in the future. :( This Lenovo G555 has had it. Ok, it hasn't but after the profile corrupted and me, getting lucky with fixing it. I dare not take any more risks. I'm rather surprised as i always thought it would succumb to it's power issues instead of a potential wipe out.

I don't intend on using it for Skyrim but will most likely use it for mid 00s-late 90s games such as Half Life, both KOTR games, Fallout 1-Tatics etc.. It is very fast and Windows 8 ain't that bad. It does remind me of tablets every time I use it though but thankfully, I can ignore the layout and keep the desktop up.

Since I noticed this thread again, I suppose it's fair to update my computer status, especially now that I understand hardware:

Processor: 4th Gen Intel i7-4700MQ (which runs about 2.4GHz IIRC)
Memory: Corsair 16GB DDR3 (excessive RAM not intended for games, but it sure helps)
Hard Drive: 1TB 5400RPM
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 755M
Speakers/Headphones: I have some Bose Earbuds that are the best I've ever had, and JBL speakers built in that are pretty great.
Mouse: A Mazer E-Blue(?), lasted my brother about 5 years so I figured I'd give the mouse a try. Hasn't failed me yet.
Mouse Surface: Everything around me.
Operating System: Windows 8.1, for some reason I'm not being offered Windows 10 by Microsoft.

I'll probably end up upgrading my old desktop to something really, really powerful. I need it for other stuff not related to games, but I figure it can be dual-purpose.

Well, I finally have a new PC.

Motherboard: ASUS H81M-C/CSM When the elusive female motherboard and male motherboard meet, this is the result. The [&@%!] thing is a baby.
CPU: Intel i7 4790 @3.6GHz
RAM: 12GB
Storage: 2TB Seagate drive... The [&@%!] am I supposed to use 2TB for?
GPU: GTX 960 2GB
PSU: A 500W... Thing.
OS: Windows 10
Keyboard: Logitech G105
Mouse: Logitech M525
Speakers: Creative thingies...
Headset: Aging Plantronics Wireless things that don't last very long, as my one experience with TS indicated.

This thing is freakishly quiet... I'm used to the small jet engine that was my previous PC (which is going to become my mother's PC, since her old IBM thing is nearly fried). At the moment, I'm trying to get this thing set up so I can actually use it for games. ESO is first, just to get the massive download out of the way.

Wait until ya'll get a load of this beast!

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 @2.53GHz
RAM: 4 GB
Storage: 284 GB HDD, 219 GB HDD (there's more but some is reserved for Linux), 465 GB HDD (external)
GPU: 128 MB GeForce 8300 GS (aka The Bottleneck)
OS: Windows 7 (plus backup Mint install)
Keyboard: Yes.
Mouse: A whole five buttons!
Controller: Wired X360 controller + chatpad
Displays: 1440x900@75Hz, 1360x768@60Hz (also does 1920x1080@60Hz with my Xbox One I have at the desk as well)

With this, I can run Morrowind at playable framerates in OpenMW (at 1280x800). I can also run KOTOR with some fanciness and even many games (from before 2005) at my native resolution. Daggerfall runs excellently; this is modern gaming defined.
