I take quite a few pictures of cars. As a lot of you who know me know (as I never shut up about it) I get to go to a lot of Supercar meets in the UK.

Here's a few of the more recent uploads of mine;

Occasional I have a clean sense of humor. It is usually that of a grade schooler, but hey, bathroom humor elicits a chuckle out of every man.
In any event, whilst on a trip, we had to stop in by a BBQ for directions, and there was a porta-potty with the text on the left posted on the door. The idea you see as the image below came to me the second I read it, so I snap a {poor} picture of it. Behold the efforts of my lower quality image editing expertise.

The bandit of bad humor strikes again! Only this time perhaps with a fleck of heresy. but hey, dancing close to the fire is soooo much more fun! :Twisted Evil:

As most of these attempts at humor through image modification, I do not claim ownership of the image, just the defacing of it. I do not intend to infringe upon any copyright of any sort, nor do I intend to reproduce this image for gain of profit through any medium. All content posted is with the accepted standards of "family friendly".

And yes, this is a double post/bump. Some one comment!

Fan art I drew today. I must say, since I haven't drawn in ages, I'm quite happy with the result.

This code comes from the Order of Templar, a fictional race of Men from a story of mine. who have been blessed by their God thereby granting them emotional temperament, a higher capacity for knowledge, and a general Understanding of Nature (i.e.: magic). These Templar believe that they can learn more of their Creator by understanding the minute on-goins of the world in which they were put, and for this reason the pursuit of knowledge is their fundamental basis for existing.

I have not mastered calligraphy yet, though I do think I am fairly competent. I need more practice with upper-case letters though. I don't do those very often. But I'd say that having received ink only less than a week ago, and with no more than 10 hours practice, I'm doing pretty good so far.

:) Thanks. But to be honest, that is only middling quality. As the one who produced the product, I see my many errors and recognize how I could have done A LOT better. But then again, the artist is always the hardest critique. You appreciation is appreciated. I will post more when I scrap some more together. Be looking forward to the Lord of the Rings poem done in this same font/style, as well as the Halo Writ of Union, both of which i have already produced practice drafts of.

Ah, calligraphy.
So easy to forget to add a letter...

But seriously, excellent job. The only real calligraphy I can do is more Aniron-style letters. And that's usually only for maps.

*as much as I detest the acronym...* LOL I hate when I do that! It has happened so many times to me, and usually right in the middle of one of my best pieces. it's so frustratingly easy to make typos. I guess this is due to the fact that my brain thinks faster than my hand writes on a normal day to day basis, so the painfully slow pace that calligraphy requires is only to be expected when it comes to grammatical errors. I found I have to address each word one at a time, and even then break that word down into each character, not thinking about the next letter until I have fully written out the preceding one. it is kind of monotonous, but it works.

I just cheat: Find a lovely font, do the typesetting nicely on the computer, print it out, and use a light box :Twisted Evil:

Hehe, that works too. ;) Actually I use a typeset font as a guideline for my own Old English style. I sort of go between a similar font I downloaded, and the font provided in a booklet that came with a Schaeffer calligraphy set I received some years ago.
I typically use typesets to get an idea of what the product will look like, and also for final page drafting of one of my stories, which uses said calligraphic font.

Case and point:
Caution: LArge image (I really should do some resizing. I am surprised the mods haven't bark at me yet for it  )
Spoiler:
Image

P.S.: this is sort of a bad example because I had to print the page off, and as it was the page border would have been chopped slightly by the printer. So I real quick bumped it in by 9 points. Tis had the unfortunate consequence of cutting into the letters. I used to know how to fix it, as I had to do it before, but I forgot and dont feel like figuring it out again. it is only meant as an example of what I use typeset fonts for in relation to my calligraphic work.
Also, my printer seems to be low on green ink...

So here' s what I did today. or rather spent part of the day doing.

Spoiler:
Image
Image

The orb is made out of the core of Eastern Red Cedar wood (which isn't actually cedar at all, but rather a variant of juniper, it's just a common misconception). I started out with an oblong cylinder about 2 1/2' long, chopped it down to about a 2 1/2" segment (I repeated this step about six times trying to find a decent piece to work with [a worm seems to have had its way with the wood before I did]) and after realizing it wasn't worth doing the whole thing with just a carving knife, moved to a rasp instead. It took about an hour or two to complete, but I basically roughed out the shape by eye-balling it and feel, then sanded it down to a more finished look with a sanding head fitted into the drill press chuck. P.S.: Don't use 60 grit sandpaper on a soft wood like eastern red cedar. It eats the wood REALLY fast. I nearly irreparably damaged the orb about half way through. Anyway, after I got it rough sanded with some 120 grit paper I did a size test on the walking stick that it will be capping. It was too large so I had to do some rework on it, which was good given there were two flat spots on the orb which I needed to take out anyway. The final dimension is something like 2.229299.... inches. Short and sweet just barely under 2 1/4 in. in circumference. It is perfect palm-of-your-hand size, which is very good considering it will be going on a walking stick/staff.

I'll post pics of the staff itself when it is farther along (or complete). All I have now on it is the rough drawing as to where the Celtic knot work will be carved out.

I do believe I shall be starting a novelization of Fallout: New Vegas pretty soon through the eyes of my character. Just for fun really. Not sure where I'm going to post it though. I don't want to start a whole topic for it.
