With a heartbeat, the wings fell. Cassardis was being attacked! I mustered up my courage for no one else was, and stared at the dragon, I took in its’ open chest, scarred ridden, glowing, its scales red as sin, its eyes, feral and furious. The clatter of swords striking the ground and each other reached my ears, sounding much like a bell toll, mournful. I twisted towards the area the sound came from, and saw the soldiers fleeing. Cowards. The dragon roared, it sounded like a tornado, and landed upon the beach, with a heavy sound thud. I gulped down the bile rising and kept the fear down, not allowing it to spread. I ran for the swords. It was only a short distance, but my heart beats stretched it out, into an age, into eternity, I reached the swords. My hand gripped the hilt of one, close and half buried under others, my hand wrenched it from its resting place, calling it to arms. I turned and nearly got swept away by a tide of bodies, I pushed though, some dead in their arms, some dead on the ground. I shed a silent tear, and clambered over them. I soon reached the beach, it was crowned in dragonfire.
