Anime is dumb. The end. I would never watch that stuff in a million years. Nope. Never. Who watches anime? Losers that's who. Which I'm not one of.

Anime is awfully woeful even when something objectively was meant for elation.

I haven't watched much anime, but when I was younger I really liked Cardcaptors. Anyone seen that?

( Is anime considered uncool? Im guessing it must be from the previous posts. )

I was big into Anime as a teen. My all-time favourite would have to be Slayers.

Joke posts are jokes.

Anyways, the only one i ever seriously kept up with was Captain Majid. (Or ''Captain Tsubasa'' in the original japanese)
But other than that, I'm not a big fan of Anime.

Look at the bolded letters in Br3ad's message, and all will become clear.

Anyway, I finished Code Geass a couple days ago, damn good show.

Yeh, I saw the hidden message and knew they both liked it. It was the general air of shame that came off them that puzzled me! :D

Im not keen on the ones with the big giant weird animals and sinister men with long wavy arms. They're just too freaky!

That brings back memories.

One of my favorite animes though is DRRR. It's slow starting out, but once it does, it's amazing.

Post subject:  Re: Anime General Thread

Could make this an anime *and* manga thread. ;)

I think Death Note is my favorite of both, or else Fullmetal Alchemist (manga at least, havn't watched enough of the anime to judge that) or Fruits Basket.

My lists:
Animes I've seen:
Series:
Fruits Basket (finished)
Death Note (finished)
Wolf's Rain (finished)
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (finished)
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's (finished)
Angelic Layer (finished)
Princess Jellyfish (finished)
Gankutsuou (finished)
Spice and Wolf (season 1 finished)
Naruto (got to about ep. 16)
Sgt. Frog (seen about 6 or so random episodes)
Fullmetal Alchemist (watched first four episodes of the original series)
Pokemon (used to watch when I was little... stopped watching during the 3rd season, Johto. Started rewatching and got to about ep 30)
Cardcaptors (used to watch when I was little)
And several misc first episodes from "sampler nights" at the school's anime club
And then I don't know if you count RWBY, as it's in an animesque art style but is totally US-made

Movies:
Pokemon 1-3
My Neighbor Totoro
Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke

Mangas I've read:
Fullmetal Alchemist (finished)
Death Note (finished... also read the two light novels "Another Note" and "L Change the WorLd")
Fruits Basket (finished)
Naruto (up to vol 23)
Ginga Nagareboshi Gin (read up to chap. 28 - that's all the scanlations OneManga had)
Angelic Layer (finished, I think?)
Imadoki! Nowadays (finished)
Yurara (finished)
Cardcaptor Sakura (up to vol 6 or so)
Girl Got Game (up to vol 3)
And lots of misc single volumes of things

I know I cud google it...but wats the difference between manga and anime? Some of them seem to reference both.

I've read Death Note, that one was cool.

A few other titles I've enjoyed lately:
Soul Eater
Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro
Saiyuki
[&@%!]

Aarah: "Manga" are japanese comics. "Anime" are japanese cartoons. It's common for manga to be turned into Anime, similar to the way that bestselling books here often get made into movies.

Manga is the comic books, Anime is the TV shows. -Ninja'd

I've seen Naruto up to the beginning of Shipuden, all of DBZ multiple times, most of GT and a bit of Dragon Ball. A lot of Yu-Yu-Hakusho and Tenchi Muyo, but that was back when I was little and can now hardly remember them. Along side those, the standard old Toonami fare of Yugioh, Pokemon, One Piece, Zatch Bell, etc. I haven't watched much since Toonami ended a few years back. (I know it's back, but a little late at night for me to remember to tune in to.)

Thanks.
That explains why cardcaptors was referenced as a manga, then an anime now.

Post subject:  Re: Anime General Thread

Asking if you like Anime is a bit like asking if you like films. People are bound to like some things and dislike others.

I'm watching Code Geass at the moment. Just started the second series. I'm liking it so far.

Anyway Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is my favourite Anime bar none. I love that show. Could be considered strange seeing as I'm not fond of the 1995 film. That film sacrifices far too much substance for style. But SAC is set in a totally different continuity and usually doesn't have the same problem. I think I prefer the second series to the first. Also there is a film set after the 2 series with a very long title. Ghost in The Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society.

Death Note and Ergo Proxy are both good and worth watching. Although once something (if you've seen it you know what I'm talking about) happens about halfway through Death Note it does get worse. Personally I was rooting for L in it, not Kira.

I agree, albeit, I'd say that in a more polite way. In any case, I do enjoy manga, even if I dislike anime.

The only anime I ever enjoyed was Dragon Ball Z.

Last anime I watched was Higurashi When They Cry seasons 1 and 2. Might get around to watching the other seasons some day, it was pretty good. Also need to watch Attack on Titan.

The series is actually up on hulu, but sort of ended :wat: I say sort of because it's following season just chose to rename the whole show into Magi 2. All in all it started good.. then really started to lose focus on the original idea

Plots, sadly, can mak and break a show... not every show needs a really complex plot going on...

Post subject:  Re: Anime General Thread

indeed some series just need to keep it simple, although I like plots a lot adds a element of unsuspected action I like that in a serie.

I watch on: lovemyanime.net
They post news every month on new series, episodes, evrything.
I missed that on a lot of other sites
