I'm finally getting back to watching anime after forever of letting kpop take up all my time. I've picked up Gankutsuou where I left off (the other anime I had left off was Clannad but that just wasn't doing it for me), and aaaaa it's so good. It's a bit confusing by times, but wew so much suspense and intrigue and mystery, and that one character really cutely crushing on the other. It's wonderful.

Have you?

I went and looked it up, and the description starts with “Dandy is a fashionable space explorer”, so I’m already a fan.

Space Dandy is about a dandy guy... in space.

It's by the same folks who made Cowboy Bebop. It's a super raunchy, silly show and I love it. It's also visually stunning.

And it has a character named Meow.

Wow, I just googled this and that's a cat wearing crocs. Maybe I should check this show out.

Space Dandy is pretty good for a comedy like show. It's not the same field as Cowboy Bebop(where shows like Michiko to Hatchin or Samurai Champloo are alot closer in vibes) but it's still got the same good writing

Also, surprise.surprise, Beta's here to recommend a show I never thought I would. The new SAO season, it's.. it's pretty good ;>.> but I think that has to do with the fact that SAO's creator/author has nothing to do with it thus it's free from alot of the same plot holes, cliche trope trappings. Also, the protagonist is a god damn tiny girl with hot pink everything, including the gun*! *which speaking of, is possibly one of my favorite IRL gun model, simply because the P90 is so recognizable.

Huh, I'm actually enjoying this new underdog anime, kind of just like I did for Drifters when that came out.

Idk if this is uo your alley tho kerr, and I'm not saying that bc lol cybernetics. No, just bc its from an older age like Bebop, GiTS and Trigun

HOLY [&@%!] THIS ANIME IS TOO PRECIOUS FOR THIS WORLD

Seriously, Violet Evergarden, strong candender for anime of the year, without a doubt. Damn good animation, sometimes at film quality. And the moments n feels, GOSH THE FEELS! Oh, this anime.. oh how it's so good.

End of episode 5 damn near broke my feels, BROKEN THEM I SAY

Why couldnt this have been on crunchyroll and not Netflix ;-;

Edit: And holy [&@%!] is episode 6 is mending all those feels and leaving a big [&@%!] smile on my face! [&@%!]!

For people who aren't Beta Three Episode Test is where you watch at least three episodes of a show before deciding if you're going to keep watching it. And I just did that with Knights of Sidonia and tapped out halfway into episode four.

The show was pitched to me as being like Battlestar Galactica with aliens instead of robots. And well, it kinda is. Like there's one big spaceship and that's all that remains of humanity against the bad alien monster things. And a lot of that world buildings is stuff I saw I really liked, so how humans are genetically modified now, they can do photosynthesis, they produce clones, neat gender stuff. The whole show is CGI, which could be fine, but all the character models of humans just look really unappealing to me. But the biggest problem is it's just incredibly dull. Like, the show really had nothing going for me in terms of characters, plot or anything really. Maybe other people like it more, but I can't really see myself continuing.

Ya, the three episode rule is a good basis, since it tells ya if it has any redeeming qualities. It's not a defacto rule, and three episodes is just an artificial limit. Like some shows just have really slow starts or the big dynamic shift happens literally just one episode away.. buut, when your crunching on time, or have a lot on your plate, you need some sort of filter.. especially for new stuff. Relying on feedback and personal recommendations never hurt

Thats the only way I got into Hero Academia. I wasnt ready to commit to just another shonen, especially while AoT was my focus. Then turn around to Black Clover.. which I picked up only bc things were sparce.. and I dropped it like a brick once I wasnt getting anything out of it aside from feeling like it was a commitment chore(hence my usual experience with shonen)

I take offence. :x I too knew what the three episode rule was.

Many, many things.

In other news, I just finished reading Until the Full Moon which is honestly pretty trash, and it was only made worse by the fact that the version I was reading was translated really awkwardly. I don’t even know why I read all the way through. Every time I think of it, it just seems worse. 0/10 would not recommend.

FLCL Progressive(i.e season 2) finally aired, and damn, it's hitting that nostalgia and that niche style

Watched One-Punch Man recently. First time an anime series actually made me laugh! Can't wait for season 2 to come out, hopefully it'll be on Netflix.

After seeing the DMC5 reveal, I am watching DMC:The animated series. It's average and the biggest issues I have with it are: Fights are literally over in seconds and Dante is a bit odd. There's parts of his personality there from the games but other times, seems rather generic. Would love for tehre to be a proper DMC anime with all characters true to their videogame selves. That and battles that are actually more then a few seconds.

Most anime/game tie ins tend to be sub par. Either they try to hard to capture what the games are and fall terribly short or they try to expand where the games lacked but end up only [&@%!] off the fans while never edging into the anime base.

One weird exception I found was the Castlevania anime since it's actually really good quality, has more than enough leeway to be more than *just* some game adaptation, and pump it full of so much personality that it really just makes you love em

I just binged an anime in a day, which I haven't done in months.

Sweetness & Lightning is actually the cutest. ^-^ The characters are so good? They feel like a little family and I already miss them. ;-; Also the food they make? Looks so delicious? I'm so hungry. I need to get me some miso and make up a delicious Japanese feast.

YES I DID

She is really cute; I wasn't sure if I was gonna like her or not at first (little kids in shows can be ehhh), but I really love her! She was done really well. Like, she gets upset about kid things and throws tantrums but isn't so much of a problem child/annoyance that you don't like her. Super adorable. ^-^
