You can cool it with the "study first, anime second" propaganda. I'm really not the type to skip out on schoolwork to watch shows, whatever I may sound like online. :) Besides, I want to watch it when I'm not busy trying to remember the irregular verbs in 9 different tenses.

My my, Beta. The truth is out.

But really, I need to study. I've got a 92 in the class right now, and I'm sure that I've totally forgotten at least half of the stuff on the exam. At least it will be over soon, and I'll spend Friday in bed with Psycho Pass.

Is this in response to the possible double entendre in my post (thus making you no better than a 14 year-old) or the shameful fact that after my exam, my mark is most likely going to fall into the 80s?

You know, after I posted I thought to myself, "Will that be a problem? No, this here is a community of respectable, mature anime watchers." You have proven me wrong.

Beta:
non-hypocritical
kind of funny, sometimes
respectable
mature
good taste in tea
a never-ending fount of smugness
gives a reasonable number of anime recommendations

Everything I thought I knew about you is turning out to be lies.

Me for the last 40 minutes:

Never has a season finale left me so conflicted. Do I smile? Do I cry? Do I sit in a stunned silence? I'm going to be dead inside for the next 24 hours.

I know that this is a double post, but I think it's worthy.

Hehe, good wasn't it? Well worth the wait? How about that EP21? :P

PS: It's not a double post if at least a day has passed since the last post

Oh, really? I don't know why I never realized that before.

As for episode 21:
You ask me about episode 21 with a smile? That episode was stress and heartbreak through and through (not that I didn't love it). The part with Makishima, Masadoka, and Ginoza was very stressful, in particular. Like, COD zombies levels of stress. And then Masadoka had to go and die. I loved Masadoka very much(though I must admit, Makishima's death brought me closer to tears). Why him? Kinda wish that Yayoi had died instead (no offence to Yayoi fans). Also, it angers me that Ginoza managed to get out from under the debris only after Masadoka has been blown up. Seriously, Ginoza? Seriously? It's only worth breaking your arm once he's already gone? And it was Ginoza who got them into that predicament in the first place. And then there's the super sad father-son stuff. Ugh. The one positive part of that episode was Akane's quality detective skills.

I hope this kind of made sense. You really shouldn't ask me questions when I'm still dead inside.

And yes, I'm glad that I waited to watch them all together.

Spoiler:
Just to clarify first, Ginoza's arm was already broken and crushed. Fact alone, he readily accepted his death >_> but his father's? You saw(and heard!) how desperate he was to get his arm freed >_> he didn't just break it an further.. No, it tore till it was only hanging on a few strands of tissue. But look on the bright side at least, he finally got to reconcile with his father
In more ways than one:
Image
But ya, that scene was very much brutal to the feels.. Taking out arguably one of the best characters in the show

And speaking of characters, old and new, I wonder if you caught that little tid bit at the end of the finale, during the reprieve mirroring the first episode? Except with another rookie in Akane's place. Tell me, did she look familiar? I'll give you a hint

Spoiler:
Well, yeah. When I said breaking his arm I guess that I more just meant ripping it. But totally, I get what you're saying. It makes sense and everything as to why he did what he did. That isn't going to stop me from being upset about it... They could have both lived. But they didn't. And never in a million years am I going to blame Masadoka for anything. He's too sweet for that. So Ginoza gets the blame (Technically it's all Makishima's fault, but whatever. Let my confused mind suffer in peace.).

That picture has brought the empty void back into my soul. You have my sincerest thanks.

Oh, gosh. I didn't notice that. That's beautiful; absolutely beautiful.

While not trying to spoil the 2nd(3rd?) season of the series, I genuinely do like them reusing a previous side-character from one of the past episodes as the new rookie inspector >_> especially given the context and everything. It really gives the series a sweet end to an otherwise rough finale

That's because Makishima was right, kinda. I mean Sibyl needs to go and his plan with the food supply was an ingenious way of doing it. By killing him they've allowed Sibyl to continue unopposed. "Oh, I'll tell people the truth eventually. If they want me to stop I will." Yeah, Lenin said that too. Ain't gonna happen. Sibyl is going to keep running the country out of a sick Utilitarianism. Really Kagari had the right idea, stop Sibyl and kill Makishima.

I really love the ending *cough* of Series 1 *cough* because of that. They have solved an individual problem they haven't solved the systemic one. It actually reminds me a lot of the ending of Robocop which does something similar, our titular robot cop kills an evil corporate executive but the company itself, their plan to take control city governance and gentrify Detroit is going to continue on unopposed. It makes the ending really chilling. And then what happens with the various characters, Kōgami going on to oppose Sibyl in his own way, Ginoza ending up just like his father after his tragic death and Mika becoming the new Akane, as naive about the true nature of the police force and Sibyl as Akane once was. Good stuff.

Have you seen the film yet Kerr? Because honestly the context would add to your statement <_<

Yes, I have. I liked the film, I thought it had a good ending too. I like it more than Series 2 which is without a doubt a weakest part of the whole franchise, Series 1 being far and way the strongest. I honestly feel a lot of the problems with Series 2 relate to it being made at the same time as the film

Some Series 2 Spoilers:
Spoiler:
I didn't hate Series 2 as much as some people do but it infuriates me to no end how little long term consequences there is as a result of anything. By the nature of the film being made at the same time nothing can have consequences, everything has to wrap up and more or less put us back where we were at the start. So Mika becoming Sibyl's lapdog and Sibyl possibly replacing the more troublesome Akane with her, the new enforcer trying to corrupt Akane, Akane becoming distrustful of Sibyl, none of it can go anywhere because of The Movie. Akane can't become less loyal to Sibyl because if she did, she wouldn't be where she needs to be for The Movie. Sibyl can't be fundamentally changed in anyway because of it did, it wouldn't be where it needs to be for the movie. Sibyl judges itself, just instantly gets rid of some of the brains (because that's how collectives work) and consequently doesn't change in any way, whatsoever. I know why that is. Because like the other characters, Sibyl needs to be exactly the same for the film. But it's complete [&@%!] and robs the ending of anything interesting that led up to it.

Series 1 ends with serious changes in the dynamics of basically all our characters. Series 2 ends with none.

The Movie Spoilers:
Spoiler:
I understand the ideal Akane's striving for with the election and can sympathize, but even if you could trust Sibyl not to tamper with the election (which you can't) voters are not making an informed decision. If you don't know the true nature of Sibyl (which very few do) you can't make an informed decision. But yeah, the outcome of said election isn't that surprising. People have limited choices (submit to Sibyl and get the perks people in that cool floating island have or don't remain in the current [&@%!] turmoil indefinitely. No third option) and knowledge of what their vote will mean.

But again it makes for a really good ending. Sibyl's control over the world is expanding, Akane knows it doesn't give a [&@%!] about what people think or popular consent, it's move beyond just messing with internal affairs and now is going to do it with international ones, it tries to use honey instead of vinegar and Kougami keeps being a cool rebel person.

Season 2
Spoiler:
Honestly, I felt the entirety of that part of the series unnecessary. The plot, unnecessary. The antagonist, unnecessary. Mika's attitude & Mr Badman's involvement, unnecessary. And possibly the worst offender to this all? Alot of the build up and rules cemented by the first season were either disregarded or forgotten. It actively felt like someone who didn't understand the OC tried shoehorning an arc that made no sense, as if it was one of those 'anime only' endings or filler.. Which just so happen to be.. UNNECESSARY.

Honestly, the whole thing was handled so poorly, on top of trying to balance two projects >__< hell, if they wanted to be smart about it, use the season to help build up anticipation for the new film? Certainly helps with promoting and advertising it

One of the things that kept nagging me thru those episodes was the this, if season 1 left off with Akane having gained/kept some manner of trust from the Sibyl system, and even proved that the system itself is willing to bend it's rules for an arguably larger agenda(that being either the capture of the primary antagonist or ensuring self preservation. Then please, do tell me, why couldn't they do so again? With an antagonist so boring and out of place? Better yet? He(they) ended up using Sibyl against itself. Question? Couldn't Sibyl just, I don't know, stop shooting itself in the foot? I mean they even asked so in the season?! None of it makes sense

Also [&@%!] Mika.. She kept [&@%!] me off with her [&@%!]..
I'll get back to ya about the implications of Sibyl itself when I have more time

I've started Season 2 of Psycho-Pass, and what's with these new themes? Out of Control was my jam.

Also, I was re-watching a few episodes of Fruits Basket the other day, and gosh, I forgot just how great it is.
How did I forget about this?:

You've never watched Fruits Basket? That show is a masterpiece, if I've ever seen one. Maybe not quite on par with Psycho-Pass content wise, but pretty darn entertaining.

If you're ever searching for a quality shojo, look no further than Fruits Basket (I promise that it's not just about the Prince Yuki Fan Club, wonderful as that would be).

Hot damn.. Am I loving season 2 of Konosuba.. I mean.. [&@%!].. You know a comedy must be good when it constantly sends you to the verge of tears, right?. So [&@%!] glad they continued the series. Hopefully this time the season isn't as short as the last :wat:

Well, if we're going off hair length, I guess the picture I put wouldn't really be accurate.

The hair-length restriction is self-imposed on me. Still can't think of a character.

This seems to be the closest I can find, length-wise. But I don't have bangs (honestly, the number of anime characters with bangs is staggering).
