This is a follow up post to my last one about the game being down. I'm sad to say that as of yet, I have NOT been able to find a definitive cause, nor fix.

As far a I can tell, the most likely option is the database is just simply too big and, admittedly, duct-taped together from two years of updates that it just failed. I've discussed it in the dev chats and I personally am of the opinion that if it CAN be saved, I just simply don't have the skills or knowhow to figure it out. To this end, my recommendation is that the database, as it is, is simply scrapped. It's just not practical to salvage it, and I'm sorry for that. However, we've come up with a few options on what to do next.

The first thing I'm doing is trashing the server and rebuilding it from scratch, a process that will take a couple of hours (forums will be uninterrupted). After that, we can do one of the following:

a) Do nothing, and simply wait for version 2 to be released.
b) Upload the game back onto here and restore a blank copy of the database, and let people play for the time being
c) Do option b, with the addition of rewards.php, turning the game into a complete sandbox mode

Please note that, as of now, any chance of porting characters/items is gone. Please don't contact us asking for them on v2. The items table in the database is very much intact and everything currently in the game will be in v2 as well. With rewards.php you'll be able to max out every aspect of your character and just have fun until v2 is out.

We wanted to put this to a community vote just to see what people think.

Again, I'm sincerely sorry for failing to recover the game, but I hope one of these compromises is acceptable.

We need to make this fanventure happen.
