Most of my anime knowledge comes from the anime review show, Anime Abandon. A lot of examples of bad anime on there.

I did watch a bit of Akira earlier(mainly because i was trying to think of what to play and put it on to see what it was like) but it will be watched properlly. Do dislike that Claymore never got a season 2. I don't know if it just didn't do well or Funmation ran out of cash for it but Claymore deserved a second series.

It is rather odd that anime seems to translate badly into games. I mean, some animes kinda scream "Make me a game!" And most tend to er... be a let down or awful when they are turned into games.

I don't mind anime that is said to be dated and it is interesting seeing what techinques were used back in the day. I do mind anime that is just lazy and uses cheap tricks. Ghost in the Shell seems like it's up my ally.

Anime Abandon? Never heard of... wait...
:
(helped voice Z-TV News) ......well [&@%!]. Small world. To my credit, while I do find that channel fairly entertaining, both by humor and personality, any further content is far from my interest.. But no matter how enjoyable Zone-Tan and her Co-host be, it'll be wise to where you watch it.. Noted hat most things on youtube are probably best not listened to at work or by family. But frankly speaking here, Z-TV may have been the only good thing to come from that scene in my opinion

*Disclaimer, mature language and massive cutes*
Spoiler:
Personally, while I don't heavily rely on reviewers for their opinion or rating, I do favor a few for their entertainment value and ability to bring my attention to previously ignored shows(Mushishi & Kino's Journey is like <3 so much yes). As of now, I primarily listen to two, and I think you may of course like them Dov

My personal go-to guy and favorite has to be Arkada from Glass Reflection. High quality and refined editing, actually dependable review, and a good mix of anime from old, classics, and new. Seriously, watch some of them. It doesnt at all hurt that is channel is fairly large by comparison
Hidden:
From within the same circle as Arkada, tho with a far less serious and varied series of videos, I do enjoy my bit of Gigguk.. even if his content is less frequent than say others. Still, pop jabs, abridged parodies, and comical reviews aside. He's worth a good look, namely because it's nice to have someone covering content others may have missed

Just one of those online review shows that uses humour.

I have seen a few Ghibli films(may have mentioned it earlier) and they are always interesting. Usually shown on TV around christmas or easter at annoying times(11am, 2am etc..) but usually worth my time.

Personally I hate the 1995 film, it's like 2001 a Space Odyssey for me. I can appreciate some of the cinematographic stuff and it's historical role but I really dislike it. Stand Alone Complex on the other hand is probably my favorite show. If you do watch Stand Alone Complex make sure you avoid The Laughing Man and Individual Eleven releases. You know how The X-Files has monster of the week episodes and conspiracy episodes, SAC is the same and The Laughing Man and Individual Eleven would be like just having the conspiracy episodes. Arise is pretty good, it's its own continuity same as the 1995 film, SAC and the Manga.

Anime Abandon? Hey, someone else watches Sage too! Well that's awesome.

I'm going to order Ki Ki's Delivery Service tomorrow. That will be another Ghibli movie off my list. Then I have.....

My Neighbor Totoro
Ponyo
Castle In The Sky
Lupin The Third
Porco Rosso
Spirited Away
And some others....

Not enough money....

Sage is awesome. :) Also brings a lot of obscure "WTFery?!" to light and gives interesting backstory about certain developers.

I don't think anybody can say the story for Ghost in the Shell film is all that worth it. Ton of philosophical bs and times of absolute nothing. If not for the action, mature themes, and ttuly interesting scifi world.. there really isnt a whole lot of meat to dig into. I can forgive the aged animation/design, but te story is just... meh. Anything the film had, the series did better x2, even the music

Fact alone SAC still can compete with many animes of the last few years if it had been just released. It may falter in some aspects, but compete in a modern setting no less. Its just that damn good, so just imagine how it stood out on release. It's earned it's mark to be one of the best and a cult classic, and namely by its own merits than cultural impact

Edit: @Dov: Seriously dude, Arkada.. watch.

Akarda? Kinda confused Beta. Unsure if it's a typo or another anime.

Arkada is an anime review, he hosts a series called Glass Reflections. Just.. click and play the Trigun video above. Gigguk is just a bonus

You know what really pains me, the fact that while I have watched the full series for Kinos Journey and yet I have not seen the short films, most notably Life Goes On since it acts as a prequel to a rather episodic show.. basically, that means it's fairly important to a character that hardly developes over time due to things not being linear (since its episodic)

But like, damn.. between Mushishi and this.. I do love these type of shows. You dont need tons of filler or large arcs to tell a great story <3

I forgot to mention that I watched Kiki's Delivery Service last week. Was pretty....Oh, and pretty good! Sorry, it's just that all Ghibli films are just gorgeous to a fault.

Best part of the movie was probably Jiji the talking cat since I'm a cat guy. Going to order Castle In The Sky and My Neighbor Totoro next.

Have you seen Howl's Moving Castle and Princess Monomoke? Personally those are some of my favorites

LOL! This has to be the best coincidence I've ever seen. Those are the EXACT two films I got that introduced me to Studio Ghibli, before that I was simply aware of them thanks to the Nostalgia Critic and my friends.

I have. Not all of Princess Monomoke but most of it. Also saw glibli's film about erm... they're not racoons but are kinda like it in terms of apperance and based on Japanese folklaw. Tis an enviroment changing Gibli flick.

Man, i need to get the boxsets or netflix of anime.

Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane!....

No, it's a Castle and a Ghibli movie I now understand the undying praise for. Why? Maybe it's the art, which is always great! Maybe it's the characters, which are memorable. Maybe it's the story, that allows the movie to explore the very inspired setting across many locations.

Maybe this movie is loved because it has Mark Hamil. Can never have too much Hamil!

All I know is I will be watching this again in the future, in the meantime....I apparently have a new neighbor. He looks weird. Yeah.

@Fiar: And speaking of Laputa and all them good vibes. Check this out. Notice any similarities?

Well....It's actually spoiled from the start from what Ryuk says about Light and the Death Note and the luck people have that use it.

My wording shave have been more vague though.

I know Cowboy Bebop is a huge anime for, oh massive spoilers. And I'm usually pretty unfortunate when it comes to stumbling across spoilers so I have no idea how I watched it for the first time in 2015 without knowing any of those spoilers. Glad I did though.

Cowboy Bebop actually has one of my favorite endings of any show, the last 10 minutes of the final episode are pretty great.

Yeah, I watched the film right after I finished the series. Cowboy Bebop was one of those great things where people say it's really good and then when I finally got around to watching it it turns out they're right, it is really good.
