No correct answers so far.

I do love the variety of guesses Image, and the answer will come off as very simple in their context, since it's in another field. I'd say that the official answer speaks of Don Pedro as a very shrewd, foresighted man.
Let's tug at the riddle a little further.

Since it has Don Pedro's signet it will be hard for the thieves to sell it and easy for Don Pedro to get back?

Don Pedro was on his way to the doctor to have the ring, and his dead finger, removed, but either willingly chose to head down the path with the deperados in order to have finger and ring removed for free/ was ambushed along the way and simply went along with it?

Extremely far fetched, I know. :P

If I knew that the riddle would cheer up the thread so much, I would have guessed it long ago. But I thought that it's well-known to everyone.

Unfortunately, there are no correct answers yet. :S

And the official answer is as follows:

Don Pedro did not dare make a sound while his gold ring was being pried off and his finger was being cut off because he had
Spoiler:
a mouth full of golden teeth.

Let's all wait for the next riddle! Anyone can go to move the thread on!

I feel like I always take the handout puzzles lol. Here you go:

Spoiler:
There is a wheel with a thin black strip running along radius. Every half-second(more or less), the black strip will stain the area it is on. Let's assume that there is a background image or that another wheel occupies the same coordinates of the spinning wheel(physics whatevs). This one is stationary. The stain will appear on the stationary wheel while the other wheel will just stain the same strip over and over again so it won't change aesthetically at all. How would one go about staining the stationary wheel 18 times of perfectly equal distances in the fastest manner? I will grant full reign on how you do it, but I still need to know the concept behind it. I don't need the specific math, just the general method. And remember: perfectly distanced(for the most part).

I always obsessed over this concept as a kid. It's just pretty cool. If you guys need me to draw a representation or the like, just ask. My explanations aren't always understandable.

Is there a specific part that is confusing? Or is it all confusing?

Anyone? Not one guess?

Since its been a few months and I'm too lazy to write out the entire explanation for the former puzzle, here's a new one I got from the book. If you really want the answer from the last one I'll give it, but I get the feeling no one cares. I sure wouldn't. So here's the new puzzle:

In which numbered parking space has the car been left?

l 16 l 06 l 68 l 88 l CAR l 98 l

The vertical lines are dividers.

That'll do it. I spent almost 10 minutes trying to find a relationship between the numbers until I finally figured it out originally. You're up.

If one whale can lay 12 eggs in 13 days, two whales can lay 38 eggs in 20 days and three whales can lay 60 eggs in 26 days....
How many days would it take four whales to lay 73 eggs?
