To get this started again, what do you get when you multiply 34 and 56? Think about it.

We get their product - 1904. For instance, it may be year 1904.

Hmmm. The answer is a bit vague, so I'll give a clue. Notice how I worded it. Don't over think it.

12 and 30??? :|
Or does it have something to do with the numbers being sequential?

Maybe 3456? Or 360?

(Hope we're not just allowed one answer! Lol)

Those are creative guesses, but the answer is still much simpler. In fact, the answer should end in a question mark.

Think of the vocabulary. What is it I literally said? Anything catch your eye? Be picky. There is no secret message or anything. Read it as it is.

Now that I think of it, it looks like you don't multiply them by each other, but multiply each of them by something else separately. Maybe multiply each number by itself? :S

Spoiler:
1156 and 3136

"What do you get when you multiply 34 and 56?"
Spoiler:
It depends on what you multiply them by.
"What do you get when you multiply 34 and 56?" - The word "and" does not imply that the answer is the product of the two numbers. Instead, it implies that the answer is 34 * X "and" 56 * Y
"What do you get when you multiply 34 by 56?" - This implies 34 * 56.

Moeboid had the answer I was looking for. I would have also accepted a simple "by?" Your turn, Moeboid.

A technician has laid an data cable containing 120 individual wires underground. Once the work is complete, he notices that the individual wires, which are usually identified by a unique number printed on the insulation every few inches, are not marked at all. With no way of identifying each wire visually, he is faced with either digging up the old cable and running a new one, or coming up with a way to identify them some other way. At his disposal is a single battery and a single light bulb. The ends are two kilometres apart and he must walk between them. After pondering the problem for a while, he comes up with a method in which he can identify them all without walking too far. What is the minimum walking distance, and how does he achieve it?

Do all the wires have different purposes? If so,

Spoiler:
then he could cut all the wires a few inches in, connect the battery and bulb somehow (if he has to, battery on one side and bulb on other), and test all the wires. He'll end up being able to tell the difference between bulb wires and non-bulb wires. Well, I don't know much about anything concerning wires and connecting stuff, so this is kind of a total guess.

I'm not sure how he could specify beyond that.

Basically, if one side of the light bulb is connected to the + on the battery, and the other side to the -, whether directly, or via one/some wires, the bulb will light up. It will not light up under any other circumstances. The technician can use this information to label the wires. I'm looking for the minimum distance that he has to walk in order to label all the wires correctly, and how he achieves this.

Spoiler:
Wouldn't all the wires light up the bulb regardless of their destination? If all the light bulbs are receiving energy, then I guess he could make a control that lights ups when it receiving x amount energy. Then he could test all the wires and see how the electricity flows through each. Depending on how much more or less the light bulb lights up compared to the control, he could label the wires according to their resistance (if that's a thing irl)

The wires don't light up the bulb, the battery does. The wires only transport the energy from the battery to the light bulb. Simply connecting wires to the light bulb will do nothing unless there is a battery involved - that is, the wires connect one end of the light bulb to the + and the other end to the - of the battery.
