From the Today thread:
BetaB17 wrote:
Tomorrow morning I'm gonna be checking out places to rent for the first time ever ^-^; oh.. fun

That brings back fond memories of my very first apartment! Ahh, what a place. Didn't get it the first time because I wanted to read through the actual agreement, and only got it because the woman who put in the bid before me kept changing her mind and made the realtor mad. Such a steal...

I miss that little apartment, sometimes.

I wish you luck Beta, hope you find a comfy and affordable one!

Well, we can always make an exception for sweetrolls~

Good luck, Beta. The trick is to not threaten people when they misread your advert or harvest their soul when they do misread the advert. But joking aside, hope it goes well.

S'wit. No. You offended me, thus no Sweetroll cooking shall occur. You can blame yourself for this! Shaaaaaaaaaaaame on you! *whispers* shame.

That said, One day, I'll try to make a sweetroll. Granted, it may not be a TES sweetroll, just may be me trolling with a literal roll filled with jelly babies. We call candy sweets over here. Literally a sweetroll. But making a TES sweetroll would be interesting. UntilsomenicksitwhenIturnmybackforonesecond.

No.

Avron has a history of nicking them. Thus, UESP has a no Sweetroll when Avron is near policy.

Sweetroll theft? :wat: Now listen, I've a long list of grievances against the s'wit, and I don't remember this one.

Though, to be fair:

Avron the S'wit has a long history of stealing Sweetrolls. Just like Beta has with cakes. It's why I can't hold UESP weekly tea mornings because he kept nicking all of the freaking cakes! You can't have tea without cakes. I mean, you can but that ain't a proper tea morning. Goshdarnit, I am being torn ahpaaaaart! *does a touchdown gesture*

Anyway, I saw a cake that had a ton of candy on yesterday. That's really unhealthy and doesn't seem appealing. I mean, a sweet filled cake? I rather just get a tub of sweets, have a cake and cruelly get another cake, take a picture of me slowly destroying it. I am, the Cake Destroyer. Destroyer of cakes, crumbler of muffins. Squasher of Jaffas, all cakes shall know and fear me.

Now you are making me hungry for cake - coffee cake, in particular!

Sounds like Beta and I are all ready for a tea party, actually. ;)

I don't know if any of you users are forum-old enough to remember sweet Leilah, but she was always a wonderful cook, as I recall. A few years back she sent me a beautiful postcard and a delicious recipe for this wonderful dish. I can't remember what it was called, but I am certain it had cheese and do remember it was to die for. I look forward to finishing my move so I can dig it up again, and then perhaps I can share the love.

I also have a delightful cheesecake recipe - sweet and not for the faint of heart (or health)! It used to be secret, but after my grandmother's passing I thought about how much joy it gave people and decided it was too good to keep hidden away in the family. In fact, I think I've only ever given it to two people before...my sister-in-law and Musicman, if I recall correctly. Odd in that it was easy to give it to MM but very hard to give it to my sister-in-law...

I myself am a terrible cook. Baking though? Oh yes.

I remember ;-; as I recall, our first encounter was in fact me getting a warning to stay on topic. Oh the good old, nooby days

Incidently, even tho I make cakes n what not, I'm actually mediocre at baking. Far better at cooking than baking.. it's so much harder to make from scratch and is sooo dependent on exact measurements. Adding too much beef to a stir fry wont ruin it, adding too much apple sauce to muffins will

Its more of a science than an art(not to say you cant also make it look it either. Edible =/= good looking)

Chaos slightly resents this, I'm old enough I've forgotten people...

Joking aside, she unknowingly introduced me to my love of chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting...
...still haven't found anyone who made a homemade cake of that kind that didn't look like a kid made a mud pie from playdough after they mixed all the colors
Her's notwithstanding, though I don't think I'm quiet on board with crushed peanut brittle still...

We've had lots of good people come through here. Leilah was one of 'em. Hope she is well, wherever life has taken her now!

I love any filled pastry, had a lovely boston creme donut last week
But it's always about execution; I had an aunt who once made 2 kinds of filled confections
a wonderful blueberry muffin with just enough blueberry jam filling to make it moist and then a chocolate cupcake with a strawberry jam and vanilla frosting, but forgot to tell anyone that she had also mixed in some other preserves and jams, some of which had a ridiculous amount of seeds in them.. and some of which were older than me...

I love marmalade probably more than most and like chocolate with citris, but biting into a cupcake should never feel and taste like an owl pellet soaked in OJ

I've lost enough teenage volunteers who didn't know not use the O word over the years to know it's a landmine
Got kind of hard when you start getting head-injured in their 50s and can't help themselves from saying it...

Some 80 year olds know it doesn't matter what age you are, getting clocked in the head with a vase will always hurt

Sounds like a (culinary) match made in heaven to me...

Perhaps these two could cater our next UESP forum party. :P

Party! Yes!

I don't know about "ever." I've only met a couple of UESP folks in person before, and I've certainly been/am good friends with plenty of folks I met here. A group meet up is the one thing I haven't done yet. (Disclaimer: Of course, don't run about meeting random strangers from the internet unless you meet in a public place and aren't alone, and all that jazz. None of us could even be real. Safety first, youngins.)

Parties on the internet, however, we've had plenty of those. We had a hilarious voice chat party when Skyrim came out, I recall. A couple of us with the midnight release played through it and ranted about it. I died by a mudcrab and all of UESPF got to witness it... It was terrible. :wat:
