@Aarah: Ah, I see. Is Slytherin your favourite house?

Oh, ninja'd. Yes, this is Mrs. Irie. Because Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo doesn't get enough love. And Mrs. Irie is, like, my favourite character from any TV show ever (or, up there, at least).

@Cass
Gosh, no.
I don't have a favourite. Gryffindor gets the best press, and Slytherin gets the worst, and the other two don't get much press at all.

It's weird seeing you without the usual style avatar. It's like when Kerr doesn't have Vaultboy.

Ooooooh, yes, let's do Hogwarts houses. Which one do you think I am?

If you thought one that isn't Ravenclaw you were wrong.

Mars, don't ask that right after you just told 99% of us that you like us less than others.

I'm Ravenclaw. And obviously it's the best house.

I get the same result every time I do a sorting hat quiz, guess which. I'll give you a hint, it isn't Ravenclaw.

I refer to some old posts of mine:
Aarah wrote:

Wait? From? We are losing points? Not that I mind. I'm in Ravenclaw.

Aarah wrote:

- Traditional Hufflepuff song.

When people pick their own HP house, the're seems to be an unspoken rule:

You don't pick Gryffindor cos that's Harry and Co's house and people think that that means you think you're the best.

You don't pick Slytherin cos then people think you're not a nice person.

You don't pick Hufflepuff cos that's the house that always comes last.

So...welcome to Ravenclaw?

Every house is valid, tbh. The way they're portrayed in the books and the films is 100% on J.K. Rowling, because she's an author who creates very good concepts...then proceeds to really mess them up by being bad at writing in a way that portrays the concepts she's created as one-dimensional allegories.

Kerr, you're a Hufflepuff. I think.

I really don't like when people say "Slytherins are always cold-hearted", or "Hufflepuffs always lose". Don't stereotype!

That's how the films portray the houses. If it was real life then there would be much more diversity.
(Or if the houses were shown in more depth).

You got it.

I do like the House system a lot, none of them are inherently good or evil. There would be loads of nice Slytherins, even if you never see any. Honestly they're a really useful writing tool for me. When I'm trying to figure out what sort of personality a character should have "What Hogwarts House would they be in?" is a really useful starting point for a grab bag of personality traits.

I'm interested to know what traits Mars and Kerr have that made you chose Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff?

In contrast, are Cass' and my own choice of house so obvious you don't need to ask? :lol:

But which would you associate with, Aarah? You may not have a favourite, per se, but what d'you reckon you'd be sorted into?

Ravenclaw is assoicated with air (my Avatar: The Last Airbender element) and the colour blue. I'm a smartass who loves to make jokes and I have a compulsive need to hoard knowledge.

@Baloth
I have no idea really. I'm not really sure what makes a person right for each house, nor do I know where my personality traits would fit into.

@Mars
Ah, I see. Is a joke-making hoarder a typical Ravenclaw candidate?

Ravenclaws like puzzles and knowing things. That's why I'd want to be one. Also, they have the coolest common room. And I spent one afternoon taking 20+ sorting hat quizzes and the majority came out as Ravenclaw, so there's that, too.

I didn't know that the houses corresponded to ATLA elements as well, though. Water was always my favourite. What house is that associated with? Gryffindor?

Gryffindor is definitely fire. Water is more Slytherin.

I definitely like puzzles. I'm not sure if I'm too fussed about knowing things, depends what the thing is.

Air is my favourite element too.

I assume it to be a connection MARS herself made. I haven't heard anything connecting the two, though it's not as if I'm the #1 fan of either, so I can't say with certainty.

I'd say Ravenclaw is Air (it's a bloody bird), Slytherin is Water (cunning, adaptive), Gryffindor is Fire (bold, straightforward), and Hufflepuff is earth (because badger).

Ninjerd.

Why is the animal for Hufflepuff a badger?

I recall Ravenclaw obviously a raven, Slytherin a snake because he was a parseltongue, and...actually not sure why Gryffindor is a lion either.
