18 degrees. So cold, I'm almost Frozen, now someone here should start singing.

Bonus Fact:
J.R.R Tolkien died in 1973!

So what's so strange about that? Well, reverse the number and you have 3791.

“Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men, doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.”

In other news, I don't believe 82% in Half-Yearly Exams are very bad. Actually it's closer to 81.4%.

Tis just cold, wet, cold and wet over here. Nothing to worry about over here, folks. Well, apparently, we're meant to be having 5c to -5c this weekend. Seems that hot chocolate is on the list. It's back on the menu!

It's funny, 18C would be a nice warm day over here. Your nice warm days would be scorchers for us. :)

Did they tell you that 82% was bad? I'd say that was a very good score.

And your pleasant days perhaps would freeze me (unless of course global warming), we are used to a lot of heat, my bleak milky white skin seems to be sensitive to cold.

I have the highest IQ in my class and presumably the entire school. I don't recall anyone ever telling me their IQ scores over 188. I should be on the top. 82% is bad because I would dub it so.

IQ is a bogus measurement though. Not to say that you aren't smart, but an IQ value is by no means absolute, and intelligence is a faulty concept, and not something that can be measured.

Perhaps you're right but I would need a higher IQ.

I feel that IQ is rather irrelevant in terms of every day and experience is often key with getting a job. Qualifications may get one through the door but experience is often key to getting interviews.

One could be the smartest person in the world but if they lack the practical skills that some jobs require, it will often go to those with said practical skills.

Now, if you excuse me, I've got a helmet to find and swear angrily into due to state of no interviews.

Like Mars and Dovah said, IQ isn't an all-defining concept.
Look at Einstein; he could fathom relativity but he still wore mismatched socks!
There's so much more to a person's understanding of things than their IQ.
Someone can be really smart by IQ standards, but does that mean that they can interpret the meaning behind a story, or understand the emotion of a musical score?

My attitude is not very normal either. Ummm, often I do the same mistakes that Einstein used to, I don't know if any of you believe in reincarnation. Quoting my mom: "You are an idiot, unsmart and foolish."

Intelligence is a very important thing to have. It's the only thing that our species has over all of the other species on the planet. In any case, IQ is not a measure of intelligence, only in the efficiency at which individuals' brains operate. It can fluctuate over time; it can even be exercised or atrophied. In any case, it's not the brain; it's how you choose to use it.

I didn't say "intelligence don't real and doesn't have an effect", I said "grading people by measuring their capabilities at certain tasks is bad".

Measuring peoples' capabilities are how we ensure that they live happy, productive lives. Colleges have placement tests so we know what a student is most likely to excel at. This is a boon that we give to people so they know what they are most likely to be successful at. In the same way, having a measure for your capabilities is an important deciding factor in what you want to do to help yourself and others around you. Either way, it is important that we always encourage people to overcome their limitations and achieve greater potential.

Since TLD brought the job markets and without getting too deep,

IQ has historically been used as a proxy for unobserved cognitive ability (generally) in linear wage regressions*. Since the 1990s there has been increase wage sorting along such lines - with increasing returns apparent. So, from the perspective of everyday life - where people work - it isn't irrelevant and is, in fact, growing increasingly relevant as we move towards a more cognitively-intensive economy.

The signalling effect of educational milestones is also more important than any experience of tenure effect. Rather importantly it tends to mediate early-career experience, where one sees the most wage growth.

---

* You could throw in other measures - quantitative reasoning scores, verbal reasoning scores, etc. - to mediate the effects of IQ but you'd probably end up with absurd amounts of multicollinearity affecting your predictions, so it tends to be used as the single measure.

To cut things short:

The concept of intelligence is a big "[&@%!] you I don't care about you" towards disabled people. I can't really see a scenario in which this isn't the case.

Equating the concept of intelligence to ableism is rather shallow-minded and bigoted. Merely acknowledging intelligence says absolutely nothing about one's opinion on mental disabilities or disabilities of any other kind. I can't see any ways in which it does.

I guess to measure one's capabilities is why people take tests. No ability is useful unless used in the right field. Many beggars have IQ over 150 and many millionaires have IQ less than 50.

I don't really know what to do with my number because (not sure though and I'm bragging too much) I am one of the people with the highest IQ in the entire world.

Something which sucks about disability and illness (mental and otherwise) is if you put a lot of effort into getting to the same baseline as non-disabled/ill people so you appear functional people can just assume you don't need any support or accommodation. You could be barely holding it together but people may just assume everything is fine and you don't need support. Just because you outwardly appear to be functional doesn't mean you don't have bunch of problems you're compensating for.

Like so much of my primary school experience involved me being derided for not being able to write in cursive and having poor handwriting in general. Which is because I'm dyspraxic, that's the reason my handwritting is bad. So getting actually support (in the manner of being able to use a computer and extra time) for exams in college/my last year of secondary school was a god send but really it was the kind of accommodation I should have had all along.

Be a software engineer and with my friends create a game or two of our own. Or perhaps join a company like Microsoft or Bethesda if I am unable to do it all myself.

As a second job become a template designer and promote my father's self made company and endorse my mom's business.

As a third job, publish my book sometime in the future and keep on increasing the Alcairan universe. Then create RPG games and perhaps a show or a film about the stories.
