"Bye, mum." Quinn said as Elizabeth attatched the last bag of supplies onto Vincent's back.

"Have fun..." She said sadly. She was a bit disappointed she couldn't go to Diagon Alley, and even more depressed her only child was going away to Hogwarts. Elizabeth was a tall woman with long blonde hair and green eyes. She almost always wore her signature purple suit, what she wore on television as a news reporter.

Vincent nodded and smiled. "Be back soon, Liz." He said, grabbed Quinn's shoulder and apparatchik to Diagon Alley.

"Now, we're in luck, son, since I get a discount on most stores in Diagon Alley. Being in the Ministry of Magic will do that." Vincent was the head of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, a very high position in the Ministry. Vincent was, like his entire family, taller than average. Vincent had longish black hair tied back in a knot and had a small goatee as well. In the wizarding world he wore a black blazer with a white undershirt, a black tie, and white trousers.

"You've told me that before, dad." Quinn said. His father never missed a chance to bring up his career; he was quite proud of it.

Vincent lead Quinn through the Alley and continuously commented on everyone he saw, with comments like "Oh, I hear she got fired from the Ministry for tax evasion." Or "I heard that he was caught with a Fire Crab farm in his basement."

Vincent stopped abruptly when he saw three people standing in the street: Napoleon, Cecelia, and Hannibal.

"It's them." Vincent whispered. "French Wizards they are. 'Upper noble class' they call themselves. Bunch of up-tight snobs I call them. I've done business with Napoleon Loi, the father. Let's just say he isn't the gentleman he pretends to be."

I am here, albeit a little late.

Percy patiently waited for Alex to pick his wand. Percy was anxious, and his dad could tell.
"Don't worry Percy. You'll get your turn." His dad said quietly.

Napoleon and Cecilia led Hannibal down the busy streets. "Do not use the things we buy you to cause trouble, Hannibal." Napoleon said to his son.

Hannibal cocked an eyebrow. "What do you mean?" he asked, acting as though he did not know what he father was talking about.

"You know exactly what I mean', my son." Napoleon scolded. "Do not start trouble with these objects or creatures that we are buying you."

"Listen to your father, Hannibal." Cecilia said.

Hannibal rolled his eyes. Of all people, he just had to be born to a politician and a movie star. Sometimes, he wished he was the child of a normal, middle-class family. But the thought of not having all of the money that the Roi family possessed was too much to bear. Hannibal loved being rich. He loved every bit of it. And he bragged about it constantly. Besides, he knew that his parents were only trying to do him good by being strict.

Napoleon bumped into Vincent as they passed. "Excuse me, sir." he said irritably. "Watch where you stand."

Yodah entered Diagon Alley a little behind schedule, due to his muggle mother insisting that she drive him and his father to the Alley, instead of them just apparating there. His father waits outside Olivanders while Yodah goes in.

Yodah walks into Olivander's as most of the other first-years are clearing out.

"Now, what is your name?" asked Olivander.

"Yodah" he replies.

Olivander gives him a look of bewilderment, and proceeds to give him a wand.

He gives it a wave, and the skin of an obscure wizard turns momentarily blue.
Olivander takes back the wand, and hands Yodah the most amazing looking wand he has ever seen. It has a palm handle, with streaks of ebony moving up it, and a dark maple for the rest of the wand, and a phoenix tail feather core. The wand is 13 and a quarter inches. Yodah gives it a wave, and a dry, warm light surrounds him. His hair is blown back, and he could've sworn he even levitated a little.

Olivander gave him a nod, and Yodah, elated with his wand, left the store to get the other items on his list.

After buying a wand, Yodah stopped with his dad to get some lunch. It was his first time ever having butterbeer.

*I actually have to go eat, brb*

"My apologies, my good man." Vincent said to Napoleon. "Bite me." He mumbled as they passed. Eventually they found a wand shop.

Vincent approached the wandmaker and slapped some Galleons on the table and smiled wide. "My boy here needs a wand. He's going to Hogwarts!" He said loudly.

The wandmaker grumbled something sarcastic and grabbed a hand full of wands off the nearest shelf. "Try these." He said curtly.

"Remember what I taught you son. Just a simple light spell. Lumos!" Vincent said eagerly.

Quinn picked a random wand out of the pile, held it up and stated "Lumos." Nothing happened.
"That's okay. Pick another one, son." Vincent intructed.

Quinn chose another wand and held it in the air. "Lumos!" He said, firmly. Instead of producing light, a ball of fire erupted from the wand and hit the ceiling. The fire was quickly put out by the store's security enchantment.

Quinn tried at least ten more wands to no avail, until finally, he picked a yew wand with a unicorn hair core. "Lumos." He said, bored. Much to his surprise, the wand shined with a great yellow-green light.

"I think that's it, son! We're taking this one." Vincent said and lead Quinn out of the store.

Okay guys, be right back." Percy said. He approached Olivander, and asked him for a wand. Olivander pulled out an Ebony wand with Unicorn hair core, and handed it to Percy. Percy waved it, and it made him fall over.
"Nah." Olivander handed Percy a Cherry wood with Unicorn Hair core. Percy waved it, and he felt warmth, and he immediately liked it.
"i'll take it." He said to Olivander. He slowly walked back to his dad and the others.

"A rather filthy man, that one." Napoleon muttered as Vincent and Quinn exited the wand shop. "Do not worry, Hannibal. Your wand is most likely far better than that boy's."

Hannibal shrugged. "I hope so."

"Napoleon," Cecilia said. "Do not form enemies for our son before he even enters the school grounds!"

Napoleon chuckled. "Ne pas s'inquiéter, my wife." he reasurred Cecilia. "Hannibal shall be far better than that rancid son of Vincent, because Hannibal has a functioning brain."

Cecilia rolled her eyes. "Let us move on, Napoleon. We must reach the train station soon."

"Yes," Napoleon said with a nod. "And that babysitter of ours back home does not seem to be treating our daughter as well as I had hoped."

Hannibal smiled at his father's comments. He did not seem to be afraid of having "enemies" or "rivals" at school.

The Roi family entered one of the nearby owl shops on the street.

Vincent then lead Quinn into the old pet store. There was a deafening sound of owls, cats, rats and toads in the shop, but it didn't seem to bother Vincent. "This way. The cat I reserved is over here." Vincent instructed and lead Quinn to a backroom of the shop where a few pets lived. The black tabby with emerald green eyes, the one Vincent reserved, was in an arch-shaped portable metal cage. Vincent picked it up and tossed a few Galleons to the Witch monitoring the room.

"The name's Vincent Silas Mafreshak. I believe that this little beauty has been reserved by me." The Witch nodded and said "It's all yours now. Good luck in Hogwarts, kid."

Quinn took the cage and peered into it's depths. The small tabby was hiding in the corner.

"Does he have a name?" Quinn asked.
"Not yet." Vincent answered.

"Then I'll name him... Latch. Like that, Latch? You're going to Hogwarts with me."

The Tabby purred.

Percy looked up at his dad.
"How about we name the cat Pippin?" Percy asked. His dad looked back at him.
"Well, it's your cat, so if you want Pippin, then thats fine with me."

Yodah was quietly admiring his wand as him and his father walked to the nearest pet store in Diagon Alley. They entered the store, and Yodah started to browse. He saw a medium sized cat in a corner of the store. The cat was mostly black, with his underside being white and a small white dab on his face. Yodah picked up the cage and brought it to his father. They paid, and Yodah called the cat Alex.

Walking out of the store, Yodah immediately took alex out of his cage and held him in his arms. He looked peaceful enough, but would soon prove to be a very mischievous cat.

The owl shop was large and contained more owls than Hannibal had thought existed in the world. The birds made various loud noises - from hooting to the scratching of their cages. Hannibal stood in awe.

"I remember choosing my first companion." Napoleon said to Cecilia.

"As do I." Cecilia replied.

Napoleon turned to Hannibal. "Well, my son, it is time for you to choose. You can pick any one of them; whichever creature you deem worthy of sharing your time at Hogwarts with you."

A smile spread across Hannibal's face. Any owl in this shop could be his. He carefully observed each of the marvelous specimens in the shop. He passed one small owl that seemed to follow him with his eyes. But when Hannibal got closer to the cage, the bird screamed loudly, causing a ringing in the boy's ear. "That's not the right one." Hannibal stated.

Cecilia grinned. "Keep looking, my dear."

Hannibal continued searching until he set his eyes on one specific owl. The owl itself was pitch black and had long talons that each looked to be as sharp was swords. It was massive - perhaps almost three feet in height. Its wingspan must've been huge. Hannibal smiled and slowly approached the cage. The owl stared into the boy's eyes. The bird's eyes were fearful and deathly. It did not make a sound as Hannibal approached its cage.

Hannibal nodded. "I want this one."

Napoleon smiled. "I agree." he said. "It represents power. He is yours, my son."

After perchasing the owl (which turned out to be incredibly expensive), the Roi family exited the shop. Hannibal carried the cage and stared into his new pet's eyes. "I'll call him Handel." the boy said.

And yes, I actually do own that wand....

I actually got the wood it is made out of wrong, but hey, it doesn't really matter.
