I keep finding myself overburdened unexpectedly, so I eventually opened my cart and stored everything (except my spellbook) I had inside of it. When I checked my character page, I was surprised to find that even with a nearly empty inventory and no equipment, I had 46/90 encumbrance!

What could be causing this?

EDIT: Wait, I remember NPCs mentioning something about gold and banks... wow, I think my gold actually has weight! I'm definitely not used to this in games...

Yep, it seems 400 gold weighs 1kg! Definitely going to store my 18k(45kg!) and withdraw a Letter of Credit in its place.

Letters of credit are the best! You can even use them in stores to buy stuff; the only services that only accept cash are lodging and travel costs.
400 g/kg is the correct ratio, yup.
