I ended up donating 10,000g to my temple that I am a part of and the man mentioned that it was a gracious offer and the temple will accept it anyway and it lowered my reputation with them, I know this because 2 of the temples members refused to talk to me because of my reputation after that.

so I did a quest, and brought the rep back up, and they now talked to me.

after that I donated 5,000 gold and the guy mentioned that donating doesn't absolve one of his misgivings and he refused to talk to me after that point.

Is this a Glitch or an intended part of this game?

and what amounts of gold can I donate without causing this issue?

Never heard of this one... and 10k isn't some ridiculous amount; I routinely give a few thousand at a time and do just fine. I mean, I suppose it is possible that it's one of those "the value got too big so it flipped over to really negative" which can happen in other areas of the game (disease weakness for instance) but I've never had trouble here.

Perhaps it is coincidence? Do you have a disease that it putting them off?
