Post subject: | adding custom sprites to Daggerfall |
I was wondering if there are any modding tools that I could use to add new sprites to Daggerfall and add new monsters. Say for example I have a sprite pack of Imps, Demons, etc. from Doom and Doom 64 and I wanted to add those monsters to the game as new Daedra enemies without replacing (too m)any existing assets. What program should I use? |

http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Files#Game_Utilities Dfmonsters.zip should help. Its within the utilities section on this page. |

Mind you though, you got to make sure all of the files are the appropriate file type and they're not bigger than any of the Sprites that you are replacing, as the engine has a lot of limits. It won't work with every file type nor with every file size. |

Did you mean DF-Monst.zip under "Editors and Viewers"? I tried that, and it just seems to edit their leveling system. If you meant something else, I can't find it. |

Dagpic/Andypic are great for editing the image files, although nowadays the recommended method is to use the programs to convert the image files into a format that Photoshop or GIMP can work with and then doing the edits there. In your case, since you already have the image files, you should just convert them into one of those formats directly and then use Andypic to convert to Daggerfall sprite format. It will take some fiddling, but modding old computer games usually does. |
