I just managed to rise in the Mages Guild ranks so far that I got access to the item maker. I've already enchanted a few pieces, one of them being a bracelet of item repairing. It looks like it's working, but my "cast when held"-stuff is still perpetually in almost new or slightly used-condition. Getting them all off before traveling and re-equipping after to avoid unnecessary wear is just too much a chore (yeah, I'm a bit lazy). I read somewhere that multiple repair item- enchantments would speed the process up. Is this true and if so, how many would be needed for near-instant repairs?

Didn't you forget to enable "magicrepair" cheat?

I conducted a test and confirmed that having multiple items with the Repair Items enchantment will cause items to be repaired faster. However, the enchantment will still only repair one item at a time. I also urge caution because even with the MAGICREPAIR option set I ended up damaging or destroying some items during the test, which indicates that you can't rely on two items with Repair Items to keep each other in good condition. This would likely result in an infinite loop of repairs assuming both items kept each other in check, which is likely why MAGICREPAIR was initially removed from the game and still defaults to off.

For near-instant repairs you will probably have to have a small pile of magic swag (the items repaired very quickly when I had a full suit of enchanted armor all set to repair) but I'd like to also note that I've used Repair Objects before and for the most part didn't have any problems with items wearing out during normal gameplay; with vigilant rests to heal, the character seems to mostly end up with their items in acceptable condition normally.

I saved my test data and you can read it here if you're interested.

Nope. I didn't mention it, but I did enable that.

Thanks for the data, Crawldragon! (And sorry for the belated answer, too, have been very busy the last month.) Yeah, that does fit my much less methodical experiments. Namely, it looked like something like four or five constant Repair-enchantments kept six or seven always worn magic items plus one weapon at least in "almost new"-condition in all circumstances. So, looks like from now on some grave-robbing is in order for every new character to finance an array of Repair-items.

I was looking for more info on this on the wiki, and I found that someone had already created this topic. There is another detail I wanted to add. Based on my own testing, Repairs Objects will also stack if you enchant the same item with it multiple times. This means you can use a Daedra Lord soul (for example) on a single piece of jewelry and put Repairs Objects on it 9 times, or however many times it will let you before you run out of room. I did this to a mark, which I've kept equipped, and so far it's kept my equipment in near perfect condition, even with all the "Cast When Held" items I have to boost my attributes.
