I don't recall this happening when I first started playing, but as of late, my mouse will suddenly freeze completely, and not just in-game, but in the OS as well. I haven't been playing that long yet, so it's possible I may have had the issue from the beginning.

Anyway, I'm on Win7 ultimate 64bit, I used DaggerfallSetup.exe with all the patches & quest packs.

I've tried Alt-Tab back & forth, no luck. I've even killed explorer.exe & restarted it with Task Manager, still frozen. After I close DosBox & all other programs, using Task Manager when necessary, I can see the OS mouse, but it's frozen. Actually, now that I think about it, when I first ALT-TAB to the desktop, I don't see it at all. I only see it on the desktop after I close all the windows first. I haven't found any way to regain control yet, and each time it happens I'm reduced to restarting the pc.

I've come across the various cheat codes also. One site referenced ALT-F10, another said CTL-F10 if there are problems with the mouse. Now that I have the cheat codes enabled, I'll try those the next time it happens.

Anybody else experience this?

I have no memory of having this sort of problem, except possibly way back when playing on a 486...
Sorry.

No problem, I appreciate...it just happened again, and the mouse cheat keystrokes didn't help. I even went into Task Manager and killed everything it would allow me to, I logged out even, and it was still frozen. My video drivers are up to date. Now, I've used DOSBOX with other games as well, and never had this. I even played Arena and never experienced this once. Usually, once you get to a bare-bones OS/desktop, you'd regain mouse movement, or duplicate pointers would be cleared out, but with this, nothing short of a restart has resolved for me. I just hope this doesn't become more persistent, because it would be a game killer for me. I'm playing now with the determination to complete it at least once. I think this is my 4th startup over the last couple years. But with all the miscellaneous bugs, and difficult-to-maneuver dungeon maps, and dungeons themselves, I won't have the interest to try it again, despite the really good char creation/development.

You can try one of the following:
  • play in a different build or version of DOSBox (latest SVN build, SVN Daum, Megabuild) and check if the problem persists
  • play in non-fullscreen (windowed) mode
