Hi - i completed a quest to kill a bear for the fighters' guild and got paid. Then i clicked Talk instead of Get quest on the head of the fighters' guild and he asked me to get a white rose from a merchant in a shop for his sister and bring it back to him. I did it well within the time limit. Now nothing happens when i click 'new quest' and when i click 'talk' he says "You are hopeless. You couldn;t even kill giant bats." I notice i still have the white rose quest in my logbook and it has 'in return for BLANK gold coins' in it.

Is this a bug? Is there any way to fix it except reloading from before it?

It doesn't seem to contain bugs, as the unofficial quest fix does not include it. Perhaps you had a pending Fighters Guild quest while accepting this one? The tricky part is that when you talk to quest givers in any guild, they essentially act as merchants or innkeepers and can give you appropriate quests. It is generally not advised to take two or more quests at the same time.

Juts note that if a random quest is bugged or fails for some reason, you can, well, ignore it. When the quest time runs out it will be removed from your logbook. A failed quest does not diminish reputation by a lot, so you can then take another quest or two and fix that.

But it's still advisable to make sure you have patched the game to the latest version and have all relevant non-official fixes installed as well (e.g. the quest fix).

Hmm...felt like a bug to me. I had the same problem with this quest, but mine was the Daggerfall City's Thieves Guild quest-master.

I don't have a save from before I accepted the quest, but I had one from before I completed it and I ran it several times with the same result. Completed it, the quest-giver gave me the dialog and the gold. Then the quest got stuck in my journal with the word BLANK instead of the numeric number for the gold. I also get nothing but the Talk dialog from him now. So do you think that after a month, he'll start giving me quests again?

Have you tried using FIXSAVE on your saved game file?
