I've installed many renditions of Daggerfall. By cd, free-version (bethesda), and even the windows Daggerfall setup executables (official and unofficial)

I'll just get straight to the point, how do I fix the annoying slowdown indoors! :x

I have a fast enough computer to run Dosbox, I tried all the normal tweaks suggested by mainstream Dosbox users (cycles to max; dynamic core; output mode; sound; ect.) You name it I've tried it, all within the past two days under all my free time. I even bought VMware workstation only to figure out that the game speed, in 9x, was slow outdoors but normally fast indoors. GRRRRRR!

So I have this problem where I get 70fps outdoors, towns, dungeons; but in taverns and larger houses 10-20 fps. Look, i realize someone is going to explain that dosbox needs a lot of ram, processor blah blah blah I ran the game in visualization it was fine in 98 SE, 2000, and XP (indoors).

This should not be happening! :S

I'm not demanding anything from anybody but can somebody who is a whiz at Dos please give some input. I've invested too much free time and money just to let this problem slide by.

Input is valuable. I intend to fix this problem! DaggerXL is at least two years away and I want a smooth game. This is a ridiculous issue that is fixable because it doesn't make any sense.

I too used to get some slowdown when indoors, but ive found that if you look at your dosbox options and find this section at the beginning:

Spoiler:
fullscreen=false
fulldouble=false
fullresolution=1400x900
windowresolution=original
output=surface
autolock=true
sensitivity=100
waitonerror=true
priority=highest,normal
mapperfile=mapper-0.74.map
usescancodes=true

change "output=surface" to one of the other options overlay, opengl, openglnb, ddraw. I use ddraw and noticed a bit of a difference.

Hopefully that will help
